5 Min Mod! Turn A Cupholder To End Table! Quick and Easy DIY

- Little things in the camper can make a big difference! We saw this mod online (big thank you to whoever came up with this!) and knew we wanted to do it. Many of the couches in current RV's have these little side tables that fit into the cupholders which are so convenient but ours unfortunately did not. Well a trip to our local hardward store took care of that!
5 items later and a top we ordered online, and we had the parts required for these super easy 5 minute mod that only needs a drill or screwdriver!
We also talk about why we couldn't make it swivel and show you another option we found online that allows us to sit a coffee cup in the cupholders without spilling.

Neat idea! I have the same camper. I'll be making one entirely of wood, as I have a lathe and too much time on my hands.
Hi! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes - our original thought was to make one of oak to match the other pieces we have done. But ordered the bamboo one to show people how easy the mod could be done. But then liked it so much we decided to use it lol. Let us know how your top turns out!

Sorry it took us a while to respond! Have been traveling :). True - many jackknife sofas don’t come with cup holders which is a requirement on this mod. Appreciate the watch - hope you have a Happy 4th!
Do you have a video on how to remove the dirt and stuff on the underside awning? And, should I use a waterproofing solution for the top of the awning?
Hi! We are actually washing the camper tomorrow and we were going to film it as it is very dirty at the moment haha.
For the awning - we haven’t done a video but we did tackle trying to get it back to clean last fall. We had unfortunately rolled up wet and as we store at a storage unit, never got it rolled back out.
We started with soap and water, vinegar and then moved to a Camco cleaner, Mr. Clean sponge….
Soap and water and a scrub brush worked as well as anything but nothing got rid of the set in stains. We are almost ready to try a diluted bleach solution but as a last resort as can break down the material.
For waterproofing - we have recently switched to a 303 Protectant on the vinyl/awning.

We have a Geo pro 19FD and have really enjoyed your RV mods and many of them we have done ourself. We would really like to add recliners to our RV in place of the jacknife sofa. But we do not want to loose the storage under the sofa. Have you considered this mod and do you have any suggestions ?

You can save much of the cost by just using a flat PVC endcap instead of the metal pieces used for this version.

Hello, we are interested in doing this, would we replace both the steel nipple and floor flange with the PVC Endcap you mention? Will it work the same and swivel? Thanks so much for your time and response.
Very sturdy when put together. But when put in my cupholder it isn't steady. Moves back and forth due to the hole in the couch that the holder sits in not being tight. Any ideas? I love the finished product but can't set a drink on it because it moves back and forth.
Hmm. Ours is pretty tight so we didn’t have to but if you leave it in there most of the time, you could wrap electrical tape around the base. That should help keep it snug.

So how would you have done a swivel tray? That's what we want.
I don’t think we could have. There is about an inch from where the cup holder is to the wall of the slide so no enough room to swivel.
@@WinesPinesandCanines but if you had the room, how would you have made the swivel? I'm just wondering what you would have used to make it swivel?
Gotcha! It actually moves inside the cupholder so if it had the room we could just turn it and swivel

Agree there are better options that don’t strip out as easily. Tried to use ones here that most are familiar with and can easily get for a simple DIY. Thanks for watching - appreciate!
