    I’m watching this on 12-19-23 & it’s funny, just as you mentioned your accent, I was noticing it;) I’m originally from NY, born in Brooklyn, so I’ve got an accent & now I live in PR & learning Spanish & my accent here is a whole new ballgame;)
    I thank you for your video, I’m learning to pool while knitting, but I watch almost every video on pooling, to learn & until my specific yarn for pooling arrives!
    Your accent is very sweet, blessings to you & your family, peace on Mother Earth & may we each be kind to one another😘

    Well I have watched a dozen of these already and you're the first one who showed us how to do the moth stitch up close. I did not understand that you have to chain one and Skip 1 and then I couldn't figure out how in the world to do the next draw thank you so much

    So if you would’ve went all the way to the end of your chain would you you’ve had 3 blue at the end if you did 8 and Change that’s what I got

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you go all the way to the end of your chain you generally won’t be at the same place in your repeat. And there’s a strong chance that the argyle pattern won’t be right. I would have to see your project to know for sure how yours is coming out

  • @rebeccalee911
    @rebeccalee911 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How many would you chain for a crib size baby blanket?

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It completely depends on how long one color sequence is, then have to decide how many sequences it would take to make it the width you want it to be. For Icelandic I would guess around 3 sequences.. maybe 4.

    hello what size crochet hook you use and also can you recommend other red heart super saver ,or any varigated yarns you use that turn out sucessful. I am having a hard time getting it to work for me I have purchased different yarns from a list of suggested yarns and so far none of them pan out. I am going to try the yarn you are using in video maybe it will work . Thanks

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angela Lewis sorry you're having a hard time with it. It can be frustrating for sure. I use the hook size that it suggests on the label itself. Most of them seem to be an I hook or a 5.5mm. RHSS Bright Mix, Earth & Sky, Lemon Drop, any of the ones that have 3-4 color changes seem to be the easiest for most. With Zebra, a lot of people work it as two colors instead of 4 and seems to work a lot easier that way. I hope it helps!

      Angela Lewis sorry you're having a difficult time with this. It can be frustrating. I use the hook size that is suggested on the label. Most times I've found it to be an I or a 5.5mm. RHSS has some great ones that pool easily. Bright Mix. Earth & Sky. Lemon Drop. Mostly the ones that have 3-4 color changes have been easiest for people to pool. Zebra has 4 colors but some have worked it as 2 colors and that seems to be easier for a lot of people. Hope this helps! Ty for inquiring. Bright Mix was my first TH-cam vid and I go into a lot of detail with that one.

    Sorry I'm starting this with the same yarn, but how do you keep your edges straight do I count the stitches?

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends which technique you’re doing. Keeping edges straighter you would need to do the alternate method. Changing one sequence within the pattern. When you do it that way, your turning chain does not count as a stitch on either side. This is the best way to do it to keep your sides nice and even. I have a few examples of it in different vids. I hope this helps.

  • @abbiewhitton5560

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the moss stitch is every other stitch

  • @autumntoy7728
    @autumntoy7728 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It didn't say how many stitches to start with? How many do I need to do?

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So sorry for the delay! For some reason my alerts aren’t working! Everyone’s stitches are different. You chain thru a full color sequence. Then as you moss stitch thru your first row, you might have 4 of each color. Not everyone has the exact same, and others do have the exact same. Dye lots are different and so is everyone’s tension. Whatever the number you have on your first row is what you need to keep consistent (watching the turns tho).

    • @autumntoy7728
      @autumntoy7728 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Donna McElvany thank you, can I make it wider with making it two sequence? Or Will that mess it up? Sorry for the questions and thank you for the response.

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t mind questions at all! You can make it as wide as you like with 2, 3, even 5 or 6 sequences. How ever wide you want it you can do it. It works up the exact same. I don’t mind questions at all! Ty!

    Your videos are great. Just one thing in all of the videos that I have seen and the instructions that I've read you never count the loop on the hook; yet in your videos that is exactly what you do. Why?

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy Wallace hmmmm. Not sure I'm following exactly what you're saying. I haven't read directions for PP and I've watched Marly Bird's vids. In mine I emphasize the turns and making sure the stitches line up correctly and how the turns play into effect. The long tail side, the turning chain counts as a stitch. On the non tail side, all the legs need to land. The chain stitch between the sc all counts as one stitch. Four PP stitches is the stitch plus the chain. 4 legs land and there's a chain in between each one. So maybe when I counted my stitch, I counted it after I did the sc?

    • @timothywallace2823
      @timothywallace2823 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know in planed pooling you can't say chain 55 or whatever you need to chain for what you want to make. I've also watched Marly Bird's vids. She goes in the 4th chain from the hook, that means the loop that is on the hook is not counted. You counted before you did your first single crochet.

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy Wallace it still comes out correct. I guess mine is the third from the hook then.

    • @timothywallace2823
      @timothywallace2823 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just wondering; because it looked like you were having a hard time when you got to the end of a row. Also, I guess everybody crochet differently. Keep up the great videos. :)

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy Wallace oh I gotcha. Actually the end of each row is gonna be different depending on how your stitches need to land on the next row. Sometimes they're tight and sometimes they're loose and you have to get creative in each instance to make sure the legs land right. Thanks for your comments and questions and thanks for watching! :)

    • @DonnaMcElvany
      @DonnaMcElvany  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eva Johnson it's not a matter of how many chains, but how many full sequences. With Icelandic I believe it takes around 4 full sequences. Maybe 3 with a big border. Depends. Practice with it to see how many you want, how wide you want to make it
