Turn on the subtitles for more information. I tried to make a lighter, "reusable match" type with copper and brass parts. It didn't work as well as I would like.
Two suggestions; first, is use a different type of "wick" material for the "match head", there are plenty around that will hold the fluid without burning out the wick when used. Some examples of this are sold through ecigarette ans eliquid stores online, there are also "fire wicks" you can get that are made out of kevlar and the like. Second; affix a piece of an old needle file to the side of your reservoir and when striking, hold the "match" firmly against the rough surface and strike in one single action rather than loads of little strikes. It should work first time and won't wear out like your abbrasive paper did. Other than that; fantastic job!
Maybe a copper tube cut in half and soldered to the side, could have the sandpaper fixed to the inner side. This way you have a channel to rub the matchhead without having to make a precise motion, and also prevent the sandpaper to rub against other objects in your pocket
It's a cool concept, if inferior to a lighter by a good bit. One thing you might want to do is put something on the grip so the metal won't heat up and burn you with extended use.
Brodi me encantan tus videos. Pero tenes que mejorar la iluminación. Te recomiendo que uses 2 softbox. Son muy faciles de hacer y muy económicas si te das maña. Si le metes pila a eso te vas a la Luna. Exitos!

Pretty good proof-of-concept, would love to see a second version!

You should check out the Ronsons touch tip lighter from the early twentieth century. I think you’ll get a kick out of it.
