I didn't know what to expect when coming to Taipei, Taiwan as I have never really heard much about it, so I was curious to see what the people would be like and also the city of Taipei itself.
I was glad to be met with welcoming smiles and amazing food everywhere I went and this is an adventure that just keeps getting better and better. So join me for my first time in Taipei, Taiwan as I check out this beautiful country!

Hi everyone! Thank you for watching and for all the great comments (except one person who was rude) I just wanted to apologise if my lack of knowledge about Taiwan in terms of a country offended anyone. I am still learning more about this beautiful place and thank you for your helpful feedback. I am really enjoying talking to locals, trying lots of amazing food and exploring so thank you all!

For many experts Taiwan is considered the cradleland of Austronesian people who spread across the pacific and Indian Ocean from Taiwan to Maori in New Zealand, from the Easter to Madagascar.
Before the Dutch People came to Formosa 400 years ago the whole island nation had been inhabited by Austronesian indigenous people. With the western part of Taiwan was reclaimed and developed gradually some Austronesian indigenous people retreated to the east part. In fact most of eastern part of Taiwan remained tribal societies until 1895 when Japanese landed on this island nation. Today there are about 0.6 million residents here were officially recognized as indigenous but most Taiwanese have Austronesian indigenous blood. For instance the current president and leader of congress both have one indigenous grandparent even though they aren't classified as indigenous people.

Thank you so much for this information it really is something I will look into further as I find it really interesting. Indigenous culture is close to my heart being Māori and learning more about other indigenous cultures around the world is something I need to learn more about so thank you 😃🙏

The food looks really nice. Some people think Maori have roots back to Taiwan.

You need to supplement your country knowledge with Taipei, as it is not a country.

Wrong. Uneducated. It’s never been part of China. The indigenous people are still here and own it. Get clued up .

Hey, Taiwan hasn't been governed by current Chinese government.
Different government. Different currency. Different history. Different legislation. Different election system.

100% they do use 2 different systems for sure but they are not their own country yet. as much as it feels like they are.
