I agree with Shelly and Venita. I'm 58 y/o from the Philippines & it was my 19 y/o daughter who introduced me to BTS just last year. I was amazed by their beautiful lyrics that espouse loving & accepting yourself and not give up when you fall down. Like Shelly, I've become a bigger Army than my daughter and BTS has become a source of our close bond. Thank you Steve for checking the band's background & I hope you enjoy the journey into their music as much as we do.

My husband and daughter supports me because they were safe haven during my cancer treatment. I saw them in 2019 in Chicago. There are many seniors who enjoy BTS. Enjoy yourself because BTS brings joy to your heart and soul. Army is the most diverse fandom. I have received so much love from Army. So once again enjoy learning and loving their music.

Try to listen to one of their live concerts...
Also they donated $1 million to Black Lives Matter in the US and within 24 hours army matched it with another $1 million. 24 hours that is the positive message that BTS sends out to their fandom.

...and some of us are in our 60's. lol Just sayin'. I'm a "baby Army" having just found BTS earlier this year. However, I have mass respect for these 7 young men and love their music and performances. I've never been big on rap, but I do enjoy it when they mix it in with the vocals. There are a lot of other videos by xCeleste as well as Ida S, and even Asian Theory that have articles on how they came to be, the background of the 7 members, the hardships, etc.

For a really good documentary on each member and their history on joining BTS with BTS history: The Most Beautiful Life Goes On By Asian Theory. BTW, XCeleste has a number of excellent documentaries on BTS. This is the first time I have felt truly welcome in a fandom. I know the difference. I bought my first record with my own money in 1956: Elvis’s Heartbreak Hotel. I have followed various performers most of my life. KPOP and especially BTS understand there is and has to be a real symbiosis between the group and their fans. Incredible concept.

I hope you conytinue and discover more. As a 49 year old ARMY from UK I can admit that BTS discussions brought me and my 2 daughters, who also love them, closer together. I hope you have the same experience with your daughter. I totally hear you about Michael Jackson people young and old loved/love his music as with BTS, I know plenty of people over 50 that love BTS too. I get the same feelings watching BTS that I did when I would watch Michael Jackson, just pure awe and excitement. Technically BTS is a boy band, but we don't want BTS to be defined as only a boy band or even just as a kpop group and all the stereotypes that come with it like their fans are only teenage girls who like them for their looks and not their music, they don't write/produce their own music, their songs are only about love, or they do only do surface level pop music. I've been a fan of so many boy bands over the years and they don't come close to what BTS do. They actually still all live together, but they have their own apartments too. Yes I think BTS constant interaction and communication with their fans is one of the reasons why we love them so much. I used to love looking at the billboard charts but now so many artists try to manipulate the charts (I think billboard has actually stopped counting bundles since this video was made). Ever since streaming came into play it's just harder to measure in my opinion. The UN speech in the video was from 2018 and only RM spoke at that time. But they spoke remotely last year and was there in New York in person this year and all the members spoke and they performed their song Permission To Dance while there. Beyonce and Shakira have also performed at the UN before. xCeleste is such a great channel for BTS content, I love her videos so much.

Hi Steve.. I love coming across a new reactor to BTS and I think XCeleste makes the best documentaries about them. Her documentaries and reactors to BTS is how I learned about them. I am a 65 year old woman and have been a fan for four years. I grew up listening to only country music, even during the 70s I did not care for the Beatles or any other groups that my daughter listen to, especially rap. Surprisingly, I love BTS’s music and even their rap, which is clean rap, not degrading women or foul language. Surprisingly, I love BTS’s music and even their rap, which is clean rap, not degrading women or foul language. Yes, some of their rap in the beginning does have a few foul language. I came across BTS watching a rerun of an award show and they performed Fire and I was hooked. They have so much content, not only do they have dance practice videos, music videos, they also have their variety show called Run BTS and Bon Voyage, which is videos of their vacations. When I watch the Run BTS and Bob Voyage, you learn their personalities, their sense of humor and their love for ARMY. One thing you will come to find as many of us have, this is Sincerity of BTS. If you have any questions, please put it out there, an ARMY will be glad to help you. I so appreciate your kind words about BTS and your willingness to learn more about them. I absolutely adore BTS and I would love to see your reaction to On, Kinetic Manifesto by BTS, don’t forget to put your captions on, Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance, all in English. I’ve just discovered you. I’m happy you’ve taken the time to inform yourself about this amazing group. I am a 54 year old grown ass woman, and yes, I am ARMY. BTS have given me sooo much when I’ve needed it the most. Their music is inspiring. Their singing, and dancing will make you feel things. Their personalities will amuse you. They are young men in their 20’s ( they started very young ) that are doing what they love best, making music. Yes, they started from nothing , with only that fire inside their bodies. They wanted to "make it", and god knows they’ve succeeded. They have worked so hard to get where they are today. They were babies when they left their families to start their BTS journey. They have stated that there were many tears along the way, missing their families, their friends, etc… The members became each other’s support system, and Bang P.D. guided them along their way. A lot of people in my entourage don’t understand why I’m such a fan of these young men, and honestly speaking, I get judged negatively for liking them and their music. For those that judge , they haven’t really listened to BTS , nor given them a try, cause if they had, they would fall for them, and admire them just like I’ve done for the past years. My advice to you, is to check out The Most Beautiful Life Goes On : A Story Of BTS ( the 2021 updated version ). It’s very informative. You get to see how they were chosen for the group, and it’s all narrated so you don’t have to read through it. Songs to check out: there are soooo many, but usually people start with Mic Drop, Black Swan, On Kinetic Manifesto, Fake Love, Idol, Dope. No More Dream ( their début song), I Need You….and the list goes on. If you decide to continue with your BTS journey, ARMY will definitely support you, cause we love, love watching baby ARMIES in the making. Much respect !

It’s interesting because when the western media interviews them, the media always bring up their numbers/milestones in the beginning and then wait for a reaction out of them just for mentioning it. It’s because the western media are incredulous about it and think BTS should act like super duper excited on camera. They are of course grateful, but why can’t Americans or Westerners believe they have these numbers because of their artistry and talent, and the fact they’ve been grinding for years to build up to this point? It’s because the media don’t do their research and they have lower view/expectations of them as artists. They just see them as fad who are money machines who have a lot of little girl fans that will fade after a year. The guys are really humble and normal, and naturally funny. When BTS go live online to interact with fans or whatever, they’re just genuine and normal. Like, they don’t pretend they get things perfect and that they don’t have flaws. They don’t have an air that they think themselves as the best or whatever, even though we think they are. They struggle with imposter syndrome, RM had indicated it more than once. But their love and appreciation for us is what keeps them going, so they work hard for the music and for performances. I think you’ll understand why when you watch the Hardships 2013-2021 video by XCeleste. Here’s the link to it: th-cam.com/video/EdY6wnLsetQ/w-d-xo.html

ARMY also supports those who support BTS through charities. For example, when Megan Thee Stallion did the recent Butter collab, ARMY collected over $100K and donated it in Megan's name to her favorite charities- Houston Food Bank, WAW Human Rights and BW4WLA. ARMY did the same after collabs with Halsey and other stars that support BTS as a "thank you" for supporting the members. BTS's culture of giving/support transcends to it's fans. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all paid it forward?

Some of the best ways to let people know why we love and respect bts so much…. Is bc of things like the million dollar donation to blm that inspired army to match that in one day…. This idea of charity has absolutely spread in this fandom… there are so many army who organize projects and donations to celebrate the boys birthdays … and it’s heartwarming to see the good that has come from being a fan of this group. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen or been a part of.. and I’m beyond proud to support these young men and their messages…. They’re once in a lifetime

BTS is very diverse with their music, any genres you want they have it. If you like rap they have 3 rappers in the group. Soft and easy, jazzy or emotional by the vocalists, All their songs are great, we are going through a ‘poppy English’ time just now but with a new album coming out ,chances are they will be back to their older performances where the roof comes off the stadium in concert.
To get to know BTS ARMY XCeleste has another video about ARMY called This is BTS ARMY which is all about the fandom and what we do for and with BTS. It is well worth watching to get the inside story.

Their Love Yourself tour encourages everyone to love themselves first. Then they will be able to love others. Suicide is the fourth largest cause of death in South Korea. Other Asian countries also have a startling rate of suicides. They are trying to encourage youth to find their own worth. It's a beautiful thing.

Bang Si-Hyuk (aka Bang PD) actually appears in the group of dancers at the very end of the Permission To Dance MV. If my memory is in tact, he is just behind and to the right of J-hope. (He is somewhat shorter than the BTS members so he is easy to spot.)

As you probably already know, BTS has 7 members.... they are a very close "family" and totally genuine.
The group has 3 rappers (RM, J-hope, & SUGA {aka Agust D} and 4 vocalists (Jungkook, Jin, V, & Jimin). The best way to get absorb each member's style is to dive into their solos, as well as the Rapline & Vocal line performances. Here are some suggestions. While some have MV'S, some are even better live (be sure to find ones that have subtitles cc's)
RM : Change ft. WALE mv ; Joke ; Seoul
    J-HOPE : Airplane mv ; Outro:Ego mv ; Chicken Noodle Soup mv
    Suga : Agust D self-titled mv ; Daechwita mv ; Interlude:Shadow mv
RAPLINE : Outro:Tear live at Wembley ; Ddaeng live w/ eng sub ; DDaeng live w/ end sub
Jungkook : Euphoria live ; My Time live D2 on BTS LIVE 2; Begin live
Jin : Epiphany live ; AWAKE live ; Moon live
V : Singularity mv ; Stigma live ; Inner Child live
Jimin : Serendipity live stage mix ; LIE live stage mix ; FILTER live
Vocal Line: The Truth Unknown live ; House of Cards live ; Lost Live stage mix ; Dimple live stage mix
Just for fun check out their "Ma City" live when they all just broke loose and also have the band GHOST backing them up onstage. One of my personal favorite live performances.

This group is extremely special bc the foundation for them has always been their art, growth as people and teamwork…. They were absolute underdogs who started with nothing… the struggles and perseverance together helped them evolve together as well. They’re sincere , gifted , compassionate and humble men who have since day 1 been the same…. They’re really once in a million and once in a lifetime bc of how many things had to happen perfectly to bring them together and to the world overall… once you understand why we think that… I’m sure you’ll feel the same way 💜

  • @taptaphello123

You are correct about the bigger companies in Korea trying to keep them down when they saw BTS rise and they weren't part of it. The same thing is happening to them in the West. BTS only has a distribution deal with a Western label and that's it. Everyone is now starting to start stuff up. Imagine how scared they are that this then-about to be bankrupt company has now gone public and bought the management company of today's biggest pop starts (Bieber, Ariana, Demi, JBalvin etc). BTS and BigHit are family. I can't imagine them signing with anyone else. They've built each other up. You're correct about calling them family. This includes their CEO, song producers and BTS ARMY. I enjoyed your insight. I hope you react to more BTS. They are great performers but I think you will also enjoy the lyrics to their music.

This is just a bit if an overview of what genuine and wholesome hard working guys they are. They feel responsible to create meaningful art/music and by connecting to fans via more content then I’ve ever seen keep fans connected and engaged. Army is a diverse but passionate group because we are deeply invested and believe in their message. Enjoy the rabbit hole. Great music ahead. Amusing the US label for distribution treated them badly so they just lost BTS, a band who is a significant portion of the Korean economy for example. Talk about dropping the ball.

BTS core values is the reason I am Army. when i think about the concept of influencers, well BTS is in my humble view are top notch for this. I have never come across a musical act that can influence their fandom to give back to the world. And they really love Army. The bond between Army and BTS is quite special. Thank you for reacting to this video. Most of ARMY have already seen it, but we love watching reactors learn to appreciate them beyond their performances. They are good, humble people and the hardest workers on the planet. They struggled for quite some time to get where they are and have faced lots of adversity. As a fandom, we become very protective of them because we see their value beyond music. I am a 62 year old ARMY from Canada and I couldn't be prouder of these guys and their message. They (and the fandom) give me so much hope for world betterment and future generations. You asked in a previous video if there is a lead singer. Yes there are various "lead" roles such as lead singer, lead rapper, dance leader, but in truth they are 7 superstars that could have each shone brightly on their own, but shine brightest together. I think the reason the fandom is so loyal is because of their dedication and love for their fans. I have been a fan of and been to concerts for a lot of great artists through the years (Beatles, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Prince, Queen etc) but I have never seen a fanbase like this.BTS put out a ton of content that lets us get to know them as people and in their most vulnerable state. If you want to take a very deep dive, there is a TH-cam series called "The Rise of Bangtan" which is the best informational content I have seen about them. The series is created by some ARMY and takes a deep dive into their journey. It is an ongoing series with 18 chapters so far (+plus bonus content and deleted scenes for each chapter which is equally as important). I think you would love it and ARMY loves watching it over and over with reactors. I'm excited for you that you and your daughter can both love BTS and have that special bond. Thanks for your honest reaction.

[34:20] They re-singned one year early with their own company probably exactly to not to have to go through that.. They probably did not get the offers. Also the Big companies Know these boys already, they know how Bang-nim and his boys are more like family, rather than CEO&producer and artists in his company.. (In Korean culture there is tight honorifics system and BTS calls Bang-nim like a family - not Like CEO, not like their boss.) Also the Big companies might have already known then (renewing their contract was publicized 10/17/2018), that the boys are there to do things differently, and destroy their toxic, old fashioned system with a positive artist environment. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

The only thing I have wondered about with this video is the statistics for fan’s ages. I don’t necessarily doubt the numbers, but the video doesn’t specify how the ages were recorded. Was it simply the buyer? Or were buyers asked if the purchase was for a child, their self, another adult, etc?
