    Hello everyone, In today's tutorial, I will show you how to make this mesh aura effect. This effect happens on the mesh itself and we are not using a shell mesh around our original mesh to get this effect. The main component of this tutorial is the Fresnel node.With it we will get a normal glow around the edges of the mesh, A grid coming down the mesh and also an Electric or Energy Effect using a grid with UV distortions, This can also be used for a flame/fire or ice effect by replacing our textures and adjusting the parameters , I hope all of you like it.

    Awesome and well done video, curious though, when ive made this MAT and it looks great on a sphere but i have a sword i want to place it on but its not working very well, instead of being the outlining, its in random parts of the blade im placing it on.
    does this material depend on the shape of the model?

    Is it possible you could show how to make a more advanced teleportation particle for when you actually teleport? So if you look in call of duty zombies when you teleport it teleports the player character into a black box with a teleport looking particle infront of the player so it looks like they are teleporting when they aint then it teleports them out the box to the location seamlessly to make it look like you are just going from one place to another.

      You should upgrade and use this shader from the start. Add normals and diffision input etc and increase fresnel power when you need highlighting.

      @@UnrealCG What if you want to light up the whole body,but still maintain the original texture? I'm trying to set it up like an on/off switch. Think of the way Goku powers up in Dragon Ball Z,you can see the yellow Aura,but you can still see his original colors under it all that.

    @UnrealCG is there a way to just turn this material On/Off? The issue I have with shaders like this is that there seems to be no way to stop it from overriding the original Material. I was thinking that there might be a way using the Original UV color,but I'm not sure.

    • @UnrealCG
      @UnrealCG  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can just multiply the node that goes into the emissive color with scalar parameter or collection parameter and when it is zero it will turn off and when it is one. I will show this effct.

    • @TGA19
      @TGA19 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UnrealCG I did it using the base colors,textures and implementing it into the shader itself that seems to work.The only thing is that , I would have to switch between 2 materials.Your way sounds better though.I'll look into it. Another question I have is regarding particles,like how do you stop them from looking so flat?

    • @UnrealCG
      @UnrealCG  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, With the method I suggested you can do that all in one material, just create a scalar parameter to control the emissive Color or do you get any other problem when you use the method I suggested?

I must make this black or white (same as in your vid) transparent material (ideally with smoke particles coming around to form aura (if there is a cheap way to do this 4 PC) it will look mental... white for users, black for supervisors in my MMO. Your older 40 min video got someting on extending emition outside the body.. but if I use all 3 techniques, it will be a little too hot..
