      So I had one listing (couple's tees) priced right, had ton of views and favorites in 2 weeks but zero sales. Etsy is charging me for the clicks so I am at negative $10. 4 people had it in their cart (but now, all the add to carts disappeared today ugh). I just don't understand why nobody bought this one. Not even one person. I am so frustrated. Do you know why this is happening. What kind of training do you provide with the link above? Please help. TIA

    I like the way you think Mae. I've been a seller on Etsy since 2006 and it seems there are so many people complaining about fees and leaving Etsy now but there is going to be fees no matter what platform you use and not putting all your eggs in one basket is always a good idea. Thank you for your reasonable and smart business sense.

    Sell on Walmart, too! There aren’t; a million guru courses teaching people how to sell on Walmart - but there should be! i realized they’ve developed a model allowing small businesses to sell there just like Amazon. the system will differ, but the traffic they get at Walmart is still huge, too! It won;t take much to add them on once you’ve established yourself on your Shopify site then on Etsy then Amazon, so do Walmart too then. Good luck!

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Walmart isn't necessarily going to have an audience for handmade goods, though. They are a discount retailer, which is the opposite of handmade typically.

    I love the part about engagement ... I know so many sellers that the first thing they do is just share the link to their own profile telling people to check out their store... Most of which of friends. Now if that product isn't something their friends would buy- that act of bringing people in 1 day - hurts the CTR on Etsy and eventually prevents ranking higher.
    And if I haven't commented this before- love your videos!
    A lot of the info is things I kinda know, but having you "in the background" while working on designs, especially for my upcoming Shopify, really helps keep me focused!
    You're awesome, keep making videos, and stay safe

    Sorry, but this is a very weak video for a title that says “How I made $200K in four months.” This should be called tips for beginners on Etsy. 200K is a big big number to be a superficial video. You should’ve gone way deeper.

    Up and coming small business owner here. I started at Etsy in October and kept my prices low and slowly built my listings and i’ve made 600 by today. That’s not a lot but I have almost 50 sales now. The goal for me was to build a customer base. I also used Etsy ads and only used a dollar a day for 17 days and made almost 200 with that alone! I really appreciate the advice.

    A question I have is how selling on one’s own site BEFORE selling somewhere else that assists in promotion and search-finds (like Etsy, etc.) is how is this wise? If you don’t already have a substantial following that’s invested in visiting your personal site, I think you’d be less likely to do business there, vs a largely populated site like Etsy for example, where lots of people are able to search for your wares. Do you still recommend starting on your own site if you don’t have a pre-established and invested following?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, I think Etsy is fine as a starting platform but the earlier you can launch your own site the better so that you can immediately start building your own email list and connections. Keeping Etsy as an additional income stream makes sense if you can handle both. I just don't advise having it as your only option. :)

      Etsy Ads are not working as intended at the moment - you should go to the forums and check that out. You are throwing away money if you are using their ads. Offsite ads have a much better ROAS - you won't be able to opt-out of those once you make over 20K/yr.

      For me Etsy ads helped me to sell 4 things but most of the time people just click to see colorful pictures. The cost of ads was 2-3 times higher than the things that I sold. So it is not a business. It is anty-business for me. I have no idea how people make profit on Etsy. After 5 years I still don't know. I implemented all SEO rules and it didn't help at all.

    I’m sorry, but your advice about starting a website first doesn’t work for most people who are starting out on Etsy because they need extra money. It’s not so easy to get customers on a website, whereas with Etsy you can start selling almost immediately. I don’t have the funds to start a Shopify store and pay for ads to get sales. Etsy is a much better way to start, and then you can transition to your own website with the funds you earn.

      @@joedalton5 Yes, the competition is fierce for jewelry, and Etsy ads do not allow for much control, so it is like you are shooting in the dark. I feel a jewelry seller needs a fair sized budget to run the course with ads, and the ads need to stay there for about 2 weeks to a month to give the allorhythmia time to understand the time of day/evening to show your ads. Ads are very good for brand exposure though. It is also important to be careful what you put in your title and keywords. If I had "silver bar necklace", Etsy might show customers "silver necklace" which is way too broad and too many people click on it out of curiosity. I learned that the hard way.

    So I’m a minor and I was thinking of starting an online business but don’t know where to start. When I have a website, how do I wire it to a bank account (possibly a parents account or maybe I could make one if I legally can) and how does the customers money get to my bank account. And how do I get the printing labels from their order. Also if they pay for shipping am I just charging extra or will that shipping fee actually directly pay for shipping so I won’t have to pay at the postal office? Sry for all my questions I’m just really curious ☺️

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you have a website, you will connect the payment methods to a bank account, which will then deposit your funds into the bank account or PayPal account. The payment processor does the work of taking the customer's money and getting it to you. Labels can be printed through your website or Etsy or PayPal. You need to input the size of the package. Your customer will be paying for the shipping through a separate shipping charge that you will set up. Whether you buy postage online through a label or take the package to the post office and pay for postage there is up to you but you will have the money to cover it either way.

    Getting your own website up is not the best place to start in my opinion Unless you've already created a following. Where these days TH-cam is possibly the better one. You need immediate traffic. If you don't have any following yet use the platforms she's talking about that will create sales and a following, then create your own website.

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respectfully disagree. If you have your website in advance, you can direct any customers you get from Etsy and other platforms to your website with included marketing materials. You can get that immediate traffic from other sources but you need to have someplace ready to send them.

      @@CreativeHiveCowow. Your husband is the only person in the world who hides his super successful business Very mysterious. If he made $207.000 in 4 months on Etsy would be so easy to check his reviews or his sale numbers and check out if it's true. I am not judging. If you want to hide his shop you have your reasons. I just hope its a true shop. But we can only trust your words. so....

    Please tell to people in this channel to be calm when they waiting the shipping. Because the seller don't have any relation with what's happening with the article. And some shipping's company are so bad in some county. the seller suffering that his article go away and he don't have any money. in the same time the buyer attack him on Etsy because the shipping took long time. Keep calm and wait your article. No one want lie on Etsy because that's mean he will lose his account.

      This is a very good point! I see a lot of this on Instagram right now, with many small businesses asking people to be patient because of the extreme delays this year.
