    My experience has been the same. I had a full size Sig P320 and purchased the coolfire system for it and it worked really well. I then purchased a Glock 17 which has a smaller barrel and purchased the coolfire barrel for it and it did not perform the same. Actually sent it back thinking it was defective. As you said with the smaller barrel you have to use the larger co2 canisters and super heat them. After multiple shots the barrel gets very cold and does not fire. This makes performing drills with multiple shots very frustrating. Keeping the canister very hot helps to mitigate that. I tried hot water as well but that got old fast. Great honest review!

    I use my Coolfire all the time. I know you mentioned not wanting a muzzle device, but with the rapid fill adapter it holds significantly more shots. Somewhere close to 20 full power shots.
    Also a much simpler method to heat the bottle is a mug warmer. Just set the bottle on it and it heats up.

    Thanks for the thorough review. One of the things that has me leaning toward the Cool fire is not getting into the habit of cycling the slide after ever shot. That seems like it can be a not so desirable habit to get into. While I understand the need to be able to cycle a clear the firearm should there be a problem (FTF, FTE, etc.) I want to avoid burning that in as a habit after every shot.

    The CoolFire Trainer, though promising, disappoints due to CoolFire Trainer's failure to deliver complete, functional units. Incomplete devices mar the product's potential, reflecting poorly on the company's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Avoiding this unreliable solution is crucial for those seeking effective training tools.

    I have another problem with my Glock 19X:
    Striker tip is new, gas is filled, but in the normal firing position the slide does not work properly. The recoil varies in strength. If I turn the pistol 90° so that the ejection window faces upwards, (kind of Ghettostyle firing position ;-)) the Coolfiretrainer works perfectly. If I turn the pistol back into the normal firing position, I have 2-3 recoils before I have to repeat the cycle.

    Hi, thank you for an honest review. Do you believe that this tool will enable a novice beginner shooter ( senior citizen ) to fast track practice more efficiently ? ( although more expensively too ). Doesn't the fact that the recoil action is down instead of up cause bad habits in re-sighting. Thanks !

    • @VailAvenue
      @VailAvenue 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think for a beginner or novice shooter, the best approach is to take as many training classes as possible, then dryfire the techniques you learn. If no training is offered near you, Mike Seeklander offers an excellent on-line academy/program that can help explain tequnique. But to truly improve skill level, it's hours of dryfire. If are on iron sights, an airsoft replica of your pistol could be a good tool for less than the cool fire trainer. If you are on a red dot, and have custom triggers and magwells and want to train with your gun, but adding a recoil impulse, the coolfire would be the way to go. But if you are just starting out, or re-aquainting yourself, just normal dryfire will get you a long way without spending a dime.
      The muzzle flipping down instead of up with the cool fire is a bummer, but it does not induce bad habits in me. You want two things with simulated recoil. 1. You want a shock in the gun to train gripping the gun hard. 2. You want a shock to cause the sights or dot to be lost (up or down) so you can train re-aquiring the sights for follow up shots. The best in the world see the sights lift, and then lose the front sight for a nano-second before re-aquiring it for fast follow up shots. Thats what you want to train. It does not make that big of a difference to me if the muzzle goes up or down, but I also shoot 20K rounds per year, so I'm dialed for live fire so it has less of an effect on me than someone new to the sport. Good luck. Training with great instructors and lots of dryfire is how I worked up to a sub 2 second bill drill and sub 5 second fast drill. Pressure, time, and emotionless correction in training the key.

    If people come across this, be warned. A bottle warmed above 87.9 degrees will make the full charge gaseous. At 120, it will be a about double the pressure. At 155 it will about triple it. Heating your bottles too much may lead to safety venting, which can cause personal injury or property damage, or possible bottle rupture if the safety seal has somehow been damaged. In other words, don't heat your bottles.

    “Training with the Coolfire system isn’t exactly efficient or easy” well perhaps compared to just picking up a SIRT and dryfiring at door knobs, but I find my Coolfire system and L.A.S.R. targeting system a lot easier than gathering up all my equipment, packing the car, stopping to get gas, driving 20 miles to the range, having to get the guns inspected then donning a Covid mask, then setting up the range bench, then reversing all that to go home, not to mention the pita in loading a bunch of rounds on my reloading bench, yeah I find the Coolfire system much more efficient and easy than all that. Btw you don’t ‘Super Heat’ those soda or paintball canisters .. that can reduce the efficacy just as much as them being too cold, get yourself a Tippman or HK Army 20oz paintball canister, a mug warmer and adhesive temperature strips from Amazon, and keep the tank at 85 .. no muss no fuss.

    • @VailAvenue
      @VailAvenue 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like you are saying it is much more convenient than going through your process to get to a live fire range. In your case, I can only agree. In my case, I was comparing to normal dryfire at home vs. using the cool fire at home, hoping the cool fire would simulate live fire more. It certainly does that for me, but with some small distractions, limitations, and inefficiency. Its a brilliant product, to quote myself from the video. I'm just able to get more done in my daily dryfire if i just do normal dryfire instead of using my dryfire time to manage canister temp and recharging mags every 7-8 shots as they de- power. Sounds like it is working awesome for you. I still use mine from time to time and dig it, but don't use it as much as I thought I would due to the reasons in the vid. Thanks for the comment and watching the review.

      VailAvenue Well after I posted my comment I learned that the local sporting goods that refill the 20oz paintball tanks have stopped doing that, then I called all around the county looking for someone to refill and nobody is doing it anymore, guess CO2 is being phased out in paintball and replaced with air :( So now I’m going to be in your shoes with Soda Stream bottles, I ordered the adapter and two Drinkmate bottles last night .. expensive! So now I’ve lost the convenience of the tank/cup heater/temp strip, and have to work on a new heating solution for the soda bottle. I’m thinking a heating pad rolled into a tube with a couple Velcro straps to keep it rolled up. Yeah compared to conventional dryfire the Coolfire is more of a pain.

    • @VailAvenue
      @VailAvenue 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It only gives you 7 or 8 FULL POWER shots before it starts weakening and the power starts to vary from shot to shot. If you watch, you can see and hear the power draining off. You want it to be at full power, and have consistent power from shot to shot when training recoil mitigation which is the entire point of the device. Once the power fades out, I switch to trigger control drills instead because the power is weaker but the slide still moves enough to cock the sear.

      It's all about training. It took a long, long time to get comfortable with the idea, especially growing up with training from the college of ag extension service and traditional hunter safety. I started training appendix dryfire and airsoft while I was still carrying 4 o clock. Then slowly over time after I took a few AIWB classes, im now more comfortable with it than anything else. I totally understand where you are coming from, but im probably safer AIWB than anything else because I train more now than I did in the past. Ever run a chainsaw or table saw? That is an act of lunacy compared to carrying AIWB, but I used to do that 60 ft high in a bucket truck tangled in tree branches and did not think anything of it. It is all about perspective and training. Sawyer Clark from Tier1concealed has unreal performance from 4 o'clock. He is as fast from 3 or 4 o'clock as most hard training guys are from AIWB. So AIWB is not the only answer, but it is definately the answer for me.
