@cobuman i have a 3080 card and when i plug it in it clicks on like normal and the back plate notches slide into the 2 slots. But i noticed when looking closer to the pcie slot it looks like it's not plugged all the way in. Even that little triangle marker is not lined up. But i also can't push it down any more. The gpu works but I'm just very confused if it's supposed to be lined up or if maybe the manufacturer fucked up with the placement of that triangle. I also bent the back plate where the screws sit a little bit thinking it needed more clearance but didn't make a difference. I tried watching other videos but that one thing keeps getting overlooked. I kinda see myself as someone with ocd at times so little things like that but the hell out of me. Iono if you'll reply to this by if it matters the mobo i have pared with it is an msi z490 ace. Also i used a risen cable to plug into the gpu to see if maybe it was just the board not being the right size or whatever but it was doing the same thing. Currently the gpu is plugged directly into the mobo. So just needed some info on that. Secondly i play black desert online so i tend to leave my pc on over night and it'll randomly freeze and i have to hard reset. I have an i9 10900k cpu and have it boosted to 5ghz. Would overheating be a cause for that or would something in windows 10 do that? Its a brand new pc i built so it's irritating having these problems. I have 2 2T m.2 ssds and 64 gigs of ram and 360 water cooler and a 1000w gold psu.i usually have something open to read temps but nothing seems out of the ordinary. So any help would be appreciated.
@@mikepullman2513 Good questions. The copper connection on the GPU should not be visible when inserted. I use HWinfo64 to check temperatures when OC my i9 CPU. What I did was OC to max and then lower by 200hz to keep it safer and cooler running. Voltage is the main cause of extra heat on both CPU and GPU which can cause stability issues. Funny thing is though... to keep a higher OC stable-you would add voltage if you can keep the CPU temps down some other way (like water cooling or etc.). Anyway, brining down to speed/OC a bit lower is not going to be a noticeable difference speed.

I noticed one of my slot PCIE pins was bent back a bit, I did not think these would be a problem. The GPU seemed like it installed ok, but noticed the card was running as x8 not x16. If I added any other card to the system even if its a non-shared slot, it would drag it down to x4 on the GPU. Used a small pin and pushed the pin forward as best I can, now its running a x16 again, even with the other slot filled with a WIFI card. Interesting, the fact that this is almost impossible to see. I'm not even sure how you're supposed to seat the newer cards in the first place, since you can't see where they connect and there's virtually no way of telling if it actually is in properly or not.

Yeah I was trying to upgrade my 1659super with a 1660 super and I took out the 1650 super nothing wrong before, put in the 1660 super and my friend said that I needed to delete graphics drivers before, so I put the 1650 back in and it was in properly. When I tried to use the pc again, the monitors would not receive any signal. I have tried everything imaginable and my friend told me that my gpu slot could be broken. I didn't ever force anything too much and put it back in weirdly. Do you think the gpu slot could have broken?
Thanks! Probably something newer that does not need too much power. Maybe this: amzn.to/3UpZ8nW Double check how much space you have and how strong the Power supply is.
Thanks! Good tip to know. I’m actually to put in a GPU soon in a PC. Are they’re any mistakes before and after install to know about (as in making sure the computer is compatible etc)?
I'm glad to help. Just make sure you have an empty pcie slot and possibly look in to upgrading PSU if you get a high end GPU that takes a lot of power. With a lot of mid range GPUs you can get away with using stock power supply.
hello,I've run into a problem I was trying to install rx 5600xt into my msi b450 gaming max plus and it seems the gpu is long and the sata port blocks on the right side prevent me from pushing it fully in and I tried with the bottom slot still doesn't fit in I've read that it shouldn't be doing this

i have a gpu, msi gtx 1050 ti with pci express 3.0 if i install it on a pci express 4.0, can be create problems on the system or doesn't matter the pci express slot?
Yes, would like a recommendation. I have an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF w 16GB ram, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, and the lousy integrated Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600. I believe the power supply is 320W. I am NOT a gamer and do not wish to be. However, I've already had some photo processing software issues related to the video driver. I'm looking at purchasing Topaz Sharpen AI and read that it doesn't support the HD Graphics 4600. Looks like I'll need a 4GB card at a minimum. I don't want any more than what would be an adequate recommendation so I can minimize expense. Simple plug-in, I hope. Thanks in advance.
Hi Mike, I'll help you as much as I can. The PC you have has a 240w power supply but you should still be able to add Graphics card no problem. The bad news is that you are limited to which cards will fit inside SFF PC. You can only use "low profile" type and the only LP card that comes with 4GB vram is GTX 1650 like this: amzn.to/30Dbeky GTX 1050 Ti also has 4GB but it's the same price (older/slower) so you might as well get 1650. Here is my video on how to install a GPU: th-cam.com/video/_tbcimqBDzI/w-d-xo.html
Hey I have a question at 2:19 I could see the second from the right connector piece is missing from your card, is that normal or did you break it because in my previous card that exact connector is also missing
I was playing Elden ring and suddenly my screen turned off and now my screen no longer turns on whenever I connect it to the graphics card.. I have to connect to the motherboard for the moment and use the integrated HD graphics chip of Intel to use the PC. I just cant believe that my graphics card Nvidia Gtx 980 Ti 6gb (2015) just died, I mean I inspected it, and it looks impeccable, i also replaced the thermal paste, i checked the connectors..etc even when its running, I notice that the fans are running, the lights on the graphics card logo are on as well. The issue is, my pc no longer detects the graphics card, nor does the Bios. I dont get it.
It could have gone bad considering the age of it, but I would double check by trying to use it in another PC if possible. I know they need extra power so don't just add it to a computer that has a weak power supply, to test with.
Assuming it's a standard ATX case and not a Small Form Factor, maybe the issue is with the metal bracket on the GPU. See if it's bent and not able to slide in to the small gap behind the motherboard (back panel). Make sure it's flat.
Possibly. But, it could also be overheating. Check to see if all fans are running. CPU fan, Case Fan, GPU fan. Although GPU fans sometimes only come on when it warms up, so like playing a video game.
I installed a new gpu and the pc wont boot up I unplug the power from that gpu and it turns on any idea would a low wattage power supply cause this? Or could the gpu be dead?
@cobuman when the 6 pin for the gpu is plugged into the adapter for the power supply the pc wont turn on at all with it unplugged it works and operates fine

My gpu seems to be seated good but it’s just not coming up anywhere, the rgb lights up and everything but still isn’t read anywhere. I’ve tried multiple different slots too nd still nothing so I’m pretty stumped…
I don't know if it has something to do with it, but after installing the new rtx 4080, my pc won't boot into windows, only a black screen appears after the bios and that's all. I have everything updated, bios gpu and boards, drivers...everything. The only thing that helped was changing pci-e gen4 to gen3, but I still don't know why this is a problem? GPU before was rtx3080ti and it works with gen4
Good question. I would ask this on Nvidia forum or something. That GPU is brand new model so most people on here may not know about that problem yet. But, it seems you found an issue with pcie support/compatibility.
i got a small problem i tried to remove my gpu, i bust the clip that locks the gpu in place its a leaver thing you push down on to release the card i pushed to hard broke it..... can that be replaced? PC still works however the gpu seems to be stuck in the board! its locked in place it wont let go! i wanna upgrade my 2060 super but i cant get it out i guess im stuck with it.
Don't force anything and I know it's super hard to reach, but you might be able to push the clip with something. Something like a toothpick or similar.
Heyy i just got my new graphic card and when i installed it, whenever i use HDMI cable it beeps 5 times without screen shown, and whenever i used VGA cable it shows the screen but resolutions are low
Can you advise me please. I have a Gigabyte H61M-DS2 DVI motherboard. I also have An Asus GTX 760 GPU which fits fine and works well. Why can i not fit my new GTX970 then ? I have also tried a GTX1050, same issue, the small ten pin part of the socket is fine and fits, its the longer section that just will not go in. Please help
I'm not totally sure if you're still responding to issues, or if you do at all, but after installing my GPU my computer refuses to boot to the login screen. It will 100% always crash with a System Service Exception, requiring safe mode. However, after running the solutions that the rest of the internet has told me to deal with SSEs, I even reset everything from square one, and as a result now I can't even open safe mode without a SSE happening. Normally I wouldn't drop this here, but the rest of the internet is lacking on solutions so I don't have a whole lot of options left
That error is a hardware issue; probably related to the GPU installed. I don't know any details about your computer but you either have a bad GPU or it's not installed correctly. Maybe not getting enough power and etc...
Trying to install RX 6600xt onto Z690 Gigabyte Gaming X mother board looks like the m. 2 cover is in the way of letting the card seat properly in the PCIe slot? Can this be right?
Yeah, that's possible. m.2 drives can have the metal heatsinks that come up pretty high. I'm not saying you should remove the heatsink from m.2 but some m.2 drives work fine without them. Again, it may lower the life span of m.2, not sure.
@@Cobuman thank you. I have a new RX 580 & that sat well so I tried again the rx6600xt & it got seated just very little clearance. Will look into a vertical GPU holders or other options.

I dont know what the problem is, i tried switching the display adaptor in the BIOS settings to PCIE, i tried lowering my resolution, i still dont know what the issue is. I think it maybe some issue in the converter cable but im not sure, can anyone help? my pc is compatible btw, my monitor just wont show any signal while connected to the gpu.

my pc suddenly wouldnt start after i install my new gpu, it needs no cables like a 4 or 6 pin. i put it in the gpu slot and my pc wouldnt just turn on. if i press the power button, it would turn on for 2 sec then turn off repeatedly. how do i fix this?
What do you do if nomatter which way you bend the back plate it still won't line up? Mine is not lining up with the slot front to back by about .05mm, it seems the slot is almost too close to the back of the case by just a hair, I've tried sliding the board as far forward as I can and tried bending the tabs but it still won't go in
When I assemble a new PC, I usually try to leave the mobo loose (screws in thread, just not tight) until I've seated my PCI cards. Sometimes the mobo's tightened position isn't quite lined up, so you have to loosen those screws to let it line up, then tighten them again (best done with case oriented so that the mobo is laying on its back)
So my problem is harder to explain, i have a older GPU wich is ddr2 and i wanted to use it on my new PC, the graphics card gets power and works but if i check in CPU Z, it shows the Nvidia logo but it didn't say the name and other stuff of the graphics card, it works on the old PC, also if i go in dxdiag, at device type it says Dispay-Only Display device And chip type:NVIDIA At name it says:Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and on the other pc it says the name of the GPU I think i have to buy a ddr3
so my card its like not all the way in the slot its half way in only half of the thing is in the slot, I got It build from a store I noticed that today what do I do I won't push hard I feel like its going to brake. the graphics card is (Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5500 XT ) please tell me what to do :D
Normally I would say push it down... but we don't know why it's not installed correctly to begin with. I guess you can take it out and see why it's not seated all the way. If you do that... don't forget that GPU is held by a clip at the frond of PCIE slot (under GPU). Just don't force anything too much.
Maybe your Bios changed back to a non PCI-E setting. Restart computer & when the flash screen appears tap the delete button. Once in BIOS look for video settings. Select PCI-E 1st video at start up, or words to that effect. F10 to save & exit. System will reboot. Otherwise update your video card drivers if you haven’t already.
Bho to me the monitor ecc. All works but at some point when i play i hear a beeping sound, the moment i exit the game it stops, no idea why especially cause the max temp thst i get is like 50° not more then that
I cleaned my pc yesterday and i place the graphics card as you said, but when i play games my fps suddenly drops. i experienced the same issue whenever i removed graphics card and inserted again. can you please help me with this problem

want to upgrade but don’t know what to do, i have an “ibuypower i7-7700k GTX 1070 16gb RAM 240 ssd 1tb HDD” any advice would help, other option is to buy a new pc
That's still a decent setup. If you want more FPS from games then start with GPU upgrade. The prices are still really high though.
Hallo, i have followed all these steps. My gpu is spinning but its not detected
Excellent explanation. Thank you! Do you have a recommendation for a GPU card that would fit and older mid-tower Optiolex XE2? Thanks!

You can only use "low profile" type and the only LP card that comes with 4GB vram is GTX 1650 like this: amzn.to/30Dbeky
GTX 1050 Ti also has 4GB but it's the same price (older/slower) so you might as well get 1650.

Does a chip to the coil means its broken? Unusable?.
Does not properly seated the gpu result in random restart ?
Possibly. But, it could also be overheating. Check to see if all fans are running. CPU fan, Case Fan, GPU fan. Although GPU fans sometimes only come on when it warms up, so like playing a video game.
