I was always into vw's but i recently bought a 2WD Vanagon, just a base model, automatic, nothin special. But after driving it a while, camping and meeting other owners, there is something about these vans. I love them, I love driving them. When I go anywhere, more girls have hit on me in the Vanagon than in my fully restored '71 Super Beetle Conv, forget all the modified trucks and cars I've had in the past. Vanagon's are straight up cool, in every way.
I love that Syncros! "Unfortunately" I have a T4 California (really good car too- but not high enough and only 2WD), but somewhen I ll buy me an 16`` T3 Syncro - for sure! - really nice Video you made!
My biggest issue with these is the engines. Their little 4 cylinder engines are vastly underpowered. That being said they are prone to frequent break downs.

Oh man! So many Syncros and Westys (and some SyncroWestys) at Sea Otter this last weekend (4/21/2012). Made me want one all over again.

Of course, those aren't Westy's. Regular vans are a lot cheaper.

mine is a 5cly custom totally kicks butt
They don't need any more than 4 cylinders and are really reliable if you know what you are doing.
