After believing it lost in the belly of the deceased Pleymo website I tracked down a copy of the CD-ROM that came included with Rock Sound's cover story on our Pleymos. Enjoy this wonderful little flash animation that accompanies the intro.

What perception do you have, a month before the release of Episode 2? Do you say to yourself 'We were super smart?' or 'do we really have noodles in the ass?'
Kemar: No, we say to ourselves that we were super smart (laughs)! There, to be honest, we are a little bit suspicious because in fact, to succeed in something, to have a little success, is a notion that is learned quickly but that is lost just as quickly; we tend to forget easily. There, we realize it abruptly because we replay a little on stage but it was a little over a year that we had left the stage, that we were no longer on the road and therefore we tended to forget the impact and the importance that Pleymo can have ... Suddenly, we are really calmed down by done (smile)! Now, we wait, we feel like we're on stand-by. We know it's going to have a thunderstorm, maybe even a storm, and we're at home waiting. We caulked everything, plugged it all the issues, tried to think of everything but in the end, what will happen, we do not know! So as you say, we tried to be clever, I don't know if we were. But for now, we're waiting ... We'll see what happens.
b1: In my opinion, there is a bit of both, we were nevertheless somewhat lucky to get there, there were important meetings, with Laurent Cléry (Epic product manager) for example, who gave us has always followed, there is also the enthusiasm of the public for our music and for the group, and that is something that we absolutely do not control. Having said that, one thing is clear, it is that we have worked hard and we have always been super demanding of ourselves. We gave ourselves, in this case, "the means to make a good album"
It's scary?
Kemar: Oh yeah, definitely! Because when we are told: "It's you who will decide the future of the metal scene in France with your album!", Well, Don't reassure us too much, we say to ourselves that perhaps we don't have broad enough shoulders (laughs) ...
Kefran: It's something we haven't seen happen, that. It's only today, when we get away from all the work we've done on the album and the friends come to us and say: "Well, the Pleymos, what are you doing? have you prepared? Do you realize all the hopes that lie in you? " that we really hit. We tell ourselves it's true, we were signed on a major and if we screw up, that clearly means that the majors will no longer sign metal; and for a hell of a time!
b1: It's true that a lot of people, both in bands and in the “metal” world, consider this album as a test, I don't think so. that all the majors are waiting to see how it will work to sign other groups. Obviously, if it hits the mark, other signatures will undoubtedly follow, but if it doesn't work now, it will perhaps work later because we are not representative of everything that is done in the “Metal” in France, I don't consider Pleymo to be the salvation of “metal.” In any case, we believe it.
Kemar: Well, given that there is a scene behind Pleymo, it will necessarily be tested. … Well, you have Mass Hysteria but for them it's different, they represent a kind of link between the scene now and the one before and, as such, they benefit from part of both audiences. For Pleymo, it's another case, it's a new wave where, clearly, the public is to be built. This is what the record companies expect to enjoy with Pleymo. if it is possible to repeat what Silmarils had achieved six or seven years ago, for example, in any case, that pressure is felt.
Precisely, as far as your references are concerned, do you want to set yourself apart or find it impossible to translate them by specific names?
Kemar: Probably a bit of both. Let's say that if we did not expand much on the references, it is because they were, at the beginning anyway, more or less clear and obvious: Rage Against The Machine, Limp Bizkit, Primus, etc. On the other hand, we find that we very quickly took the tangent from the simple fact that I started to write more in French. And that muddied the cards of the rences, including for us elsewhere. We lived our own lives, we had our "originality" if we could !. Suddenly, without paying too much attention to the critics saying: "It looks like this, it looks like that". 1 We cut the road and we continued to work knowing that we felt to be our thing.
Kemar: Yes, of course! References and influences, It really reassures in fact. And then, one day, you are so pushed that you throw yourself into the water, you no longer have the choice. And you say: "Too bad, I let go , I'm not hanging on to anything, come what may, I'll do my thing! "And it's when you jump in the water frankly that you realize that you can swim.
