    Im happy to see how much you care about squirrels. Most people see them as rodents that are not worth anything. I am an arborist and I always check their nests before i cut anything down. That's the worst part of my job, destroying trees with an active nest. One customer we worked at wanted to drowned a nest i found with four 6 week old baby grey squirrels. He didn't let the mom take the nest or the babies i put at the base of a tree we weren't removing. The guy was a scumbag with no respect for the life of any animal. So I took them home and raised them until they became ready to be on their own. I feel bad for the mother of the babies to this day. Great video though.

      Newton had a condition where he started walking sideways and kept falling. He always came back after we released him when he wanted to be let go. One day he returned home and was I'll and we kept him close. After I went to bed,my Husband called to me saying he is crying for you!( Had him since he was a pinkie w/eyes shut) I went to pick him up,he was stiffening up( maybe poison!?) I couldn't move or pick him up. Just petted his face and head as he left us. Miss him still. He was only 9 months. He went everywhere w/ me.💔🐿️🕊️May your little one live happy,healthy,and a long time together w/your Family and yourself!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️

    • @Adventureland171
      @Adventureland171  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hopefully your Squirel will visit you, set food out to support your little one and it may return daily.
      If your squirrel was completely weaned, large and strong enough, can break open nuts in shells (such as walnuts and hazels) then it was probably time for the squirrel to go back to the wild and will be fine,
      release squirrels at aboutt 14-16 weeks old.

      Below is a link to a Facebook group which has valuable information on how to care for these little animals.
      The first most important step in the rescue is:-
      1. Place the babies under the tree from which they fell, the mother will be looking for them and will retrieve them if they are healthy.
      2. If the animal is wet and cold, dry it and keep warm, use a soft baby towel, one that it's claws won't get caught in. A small shoe cardboard box or similar will be good.
      A cell phone playing the cries of babies which can be downloaded from the internet can be helpful in helping the mother to find them.
      3. If after several hours pass and no sign of the mom, then it will takeo a dedicated effort to raise them. Try getting in touch with a professional rehabbing facility from your local animal rescue institutions.
      4.Then if no luck with that, then now it's up to you to ensure their survival.
      Take the box indoors, place only one side of it on a heating pad so the animals can move to a cooler area of they need to...caution not too hot,
      5.Get pedialyte and administer with a small pet nipple and syringe as shown in my video, Caution no not force feed! Eventusllt the animal will start to suck cannot stress enough this step as you do not want any liquid going to the animals lungs !
      6. Once hydrated, now the care begins... to be continued.

    i have one about four and a half weeks how and when should i start hard foods? :)

    • @Adventureland171
      @Adventureland171  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When they are around 7-8 weeks of age, you can start to introduce harder foods such as bits of carrot and small pieces of rodent blocks, also give them some shelled almonds so they can learn how to chew on things, they will generally just chew some of the food up and not eat it which is fine. When the formula feedings decrease, increase the amount of soft and harder foods until they are totally weaned around 10 weeks or so, give them breakfast and dinner of hard and soft foods. Get them used to normal squirrel feeding times by feeding them within a couple of hours after sun up and within a couple of hours before sun down. Some squirrels may refuse formula at 7-8 weeks of age, some will still beg for it at 12 weeks of age which is normal.
