I remember walking through Docklands in 1993 when only 1 canada square was there and it was an empty wasteland. The scale of development since is beyond incredible.

Wow that's cool, thanks for sharing. Do you think the area has been transformed for the better?

Ah that's cool, who would have thought it would grow into what it is today?

    I worked for
a major US entertainment client who was looking for building/offices in UK.
I performed due diligence study of several sites. When we visited future site of Canary Warf Business Center BEFORE 1 Canada Square Existed in late 1980's with Olympia & York. There were MANY low income Families who lived there. When I asked how they intended to relocate everyone fairly... my ? "Sadly" went ignored.

I was there, working on 1 Canada Square being built, before everything was built around it.

@@acivilconversation18 It does look better, however there is a massive downside as usual with these sort of massive projects. The original Eastenders that lived in the area before the developments can't afford to live there in the area they grew up in, with million quid plus apartments that have taken over. Basically everyone who lives there is imported and the original people squeezed out.

Back in the day when the Canary Island was the biggest exporter of bananas to Europe and not the Dominican Republic.
