    Deepika was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her family moved to Bangalore, India when she was
    eleven months old.
    She has admitted to being socially awkward as a child and did not have many friends. The
    the focus of her life was badminton, which she played competitively from a young age.
    She played state level badminton till the 10th standard.
    While concentrating on her education and sporting career, Deepika also worked as a child model,
    first appearing in a couple of advertising campaigns at the age of eight. In the tenth grade, she
    changed focus and decided to become a fashion model.
    At the age of 21, Padukone relocated to Mumbai and stayed at her aunt's home. That year, she
    gained wider recognition by featuring in the music video for Himesh Reshammiya's song "Naam Hai Tera".
    Deepika is known for her glamorous image, exemplified by her distinct physical attributes.
    She shares a close bond with her family and visits them regularly in her hometown of
    Bangalore. She lives by herself in Prabhadevi, a neighbourhood in Mumbai, and admits to missing the
    presence of her family there.
    In March 2008, Deepika began dating Ranbir Kapoor after meeting on the sets of their film
    Bachna Ae Haseeno. She spoke openly about the relationship and sported a tattoo of his initials on the
    nape of her neck. She has said that the relationship had a profound effect on her, transforming her into
    a more confident and social person. After their break up in November 2009, she has decided to
    keep her personal life away from media attention.
    After the break up with Ranbir Kapoor, she professed in an interview to feeling "angry" and "betrayed"
    for a long time, but insisted that they remained on good terms.
    In 2009, she started writing weekly columns for HT City, the lifestyle supplement of Hindustan Times.
    These columns appear online on the social network, Desimartini.
    In addition to acting, Deepika has written opinion columns and has been involved in women's
    health and fitness magazines. She has also supported charitable organizations and has performed for
    stage shows.
    She has a glass of hot water first thing in the morning.
    Her favourite kind of bread is freshly-baked soft white bread.
    Deepika loves to cook.
    Her first dialogue in “Om Shanti Om” movie was ‘Kutte, Kareena! Bhagwan Ke Liye Mujhe chhod de!’
    (meaning: Oh You (Dog,) Scoundrel! Please leave me for God's sake!)
    She is a morning person and likes working outdoors, in nature and fresh air.
    Deepika always prefers to take the stairs instead of the lift.
    Deepika was awarded the title “Model of the Year“ at the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards.
    A practising Hindu, Padukone considers religion to be an important aspect of her life and makes
    frequent visits to temples and other religious shrines.
    Padukone is an active celebrity endorser for several brands and products.
    In 2013, she launched her own line of clothing for women, in association with the retail chain Van
    Heusen.
    In 2013, she began dating actor Ranveer Singh.
    Deepika used to was naughty in school. She and her friends used to place pins on the teacher's chair.
