I know the Walmarts in my area put a stop to truck/RV camping in their parking lots because of the amount of garbage & other things left behind. Suffice to say some disrespectful people ruined it for everybody

Selective Walmarts, probably Martha’s Vineyard type of areas. But since they close at midnight if one was parked you might stand out. Otherwise, if you park a van, quietly, who would know? Of course, can’t put up camper tops. Too obvious. Viewed a vid of a nurse, lives in their van in the hospital parking lot.
I live in Savannah Ga. and there is a Wal-Mart here that had about 15 cars of homeless people who set up a mini encampment that didn't leave for months. They also began panhandling aggressively in groups which made a lot of people feel threatened so a lot of people stopped going altogether. It's hard for a minimum wage Walmart employee to discern between a van/car life camper and a homeless squatter that will harass your customers.
There's an obvious difference, it's called trash or litter, people that boondock over night are clean pleasant and appreciative, homeless people don't give a f**k,
Same thing where I live. Homeless druggy ,panhandlers., in the parking lot and woods next door. They overran the McDonald's till it was scary to eat there. What even made it worse was there is a major bus terminal in the Walmart parking lot. Finally the crackdown came.
When I worked @ WM they posted signs NO Trucks ( hubs is a trucker) manager told us that people were using the bathroom openly in parking lot and leaving trash everywhere. Just gross and unsanitary. I wish I was surprised but I'm actually not😢
It only takes a few to mess up something great. When I was traveling, I had to park at a rest area because the truck stops are cracking down too. Sucks when you're traveling, and you just need a quick nap but the side of the road doesn't feel as safe. One of my favorites .. Many cargo van expeditors overnight at Planet Fitness locations that are open 24h. If you buy the black card membership they are good everywhere plus you get free showers.
@@NavodtheNomad Yeah I haven't felt comfortable at Planet Fitness lots. I had two cops give me the stink eye when I was working on my laptop in the cab of my van. I've been using truck stop front lots that don't have "no overnight parking signs." Most have time limit signs, but I haven't been run off yet. Some new Love's have RV hookup sites.
Sooo.... There are always truck stops Becca. That is what they are for and they are much better than Walmart anyway. You can get hot food a shower and some of them have places to wash your clothes. And hot coffee in the morning. Always a better option than Walmart. Always.
Easier to ask for forgiveness then permission in some situations. If you do it stealth wise, and don't make a big scene, you could literally "camp" anywhere. I've seen folks on here do it in airport parking lots, suburban neighborhoods, downtown in busy cities, in hotel parking lots, at hospitals and even casinos. Again, just don't be obvious with what you're doing and you'll likely be fine. Nobody really cares unless you are a hassle or a headache.
Truck stops, that's my main go-to. Of course I'm a guy, and I was a truck driver for 45 years. Also if you're river fishing try a Castmaster and a super duper. Both work for steelhead, trout, bass. Cropie.
It's not about overnight camping at Walmart, it's about the mass of homeless people living in their cars that stay at Walmart parking lots long term. Sad, but true.
It was a Store by Store basis I was told by a district manager I was told it was caused by people coming to camp but not leaving or coming to camp And throwing their litter not into one of the 100 trash cans they have they throw it all over the parking lots.And yes the Store Managers know that not all campers are the same but unfortunately the bad have ruined it for the others.
Yeah. I just pop my window covers up right away and I'm usually exhausted from working so I'm asleep and quiet. When I walk the dog at night sometimes there are bound to be people noticing us, but I haven't been told to leave any of the Walmarts yet. I was at one for two weeks straight. I think if you just don't leave trash and clean up after your dog you're fine.
I use work at Walmart in Attleboro Massachusetts stocking 3rd shift and a lot homeless people caused fights drinking an trash everyday so they are ones who stopped many Walmarts from over night resting..even had couple who tried Rob trucks..
I had the same experience while working at Walmart. Some people stayed overnight at our Walmart, then used the excuse that their vehicle wouldn't start. They conned our local Salvation Army and food pantry. We finally used the local and State police to get them out of town.
Definitely a YMMV situation. I still see campers (not only homeless living out of their car) parked overnight at my local Walmart stores, I guarantee they aren't asking for permission though just taking the risk of getting that knock in the middle of the night. Keep in mind a lot of Walmart locations have security patrolling all day and night now too, and nearly if not all of these have signs everywhere saying no overnight parking. Leave no trace, don't disturb anyone and you should be fine regardless.
All of the Walmart stores in our area stopped allowing overnight camping because they would leave tons of trash in the lot, and we have had people overdosing in their vehicles.

Sorry bout the walmart mess. I constantly use auto parts store parking. There is always vehicles there staying over night. Always ask ahead when you come into different states. Some of your viewers who own property would most definitely host you over night. I will step up as a property owner in GA. 15 minutes off I-20 in lake country, 40 mins. Southeast of Atlanta. Just leisurely traveled from FL to NY. Every Walmart he'd no parking signs posted but I asked inside store and was always granted one night of parking - face to face seems to work better!

My understanding is that in a lot of cases it's not really even up to Wal*Mart as they lease the land the stores are on and the parking lots, so they have to just abide by local laws/ordinances. I bet if you called and asked all along they probably would have said no you can't but maybe they didn't start cracking down until recently, who knows. I live in SC and there use to be lots of campers the first yr of COVID. I haven't noticed any there in quite awhile. Careful with the fumes and shutting your dog in such a small space. Fumes are heavy and settle to the ground where he is laying.
In the past, I relayed on Walmart for parking overnight. One of my stepdaughters ended up in a hospital about two hundred miles from home. My wife and I slept in our car in a Walmart parking lot to save money and to be at my stepdaughter hospital bedside.

Consequently, we do permit RV parking on our store parking lots as we are able. Permission to park is extended by individual store managers, based on availability of parking space and local laws. Please contact management in each store to ensure accommodations before parking your RV.
ironically the actual Walmart workers probably don't read the Walmart website. I know that happens in plenty of stores - they have their own "internal" data systems that are different than the website for customers.
my local Wal mart stopped letting people stay overnight because of the garbage that was left and how many people were staying for weeks at a time and using Wal marts' facilities. I don't blame them.
Too bad people don't complain more about the Waltons being multi-billionaires creating so many homeless people from lack of living wages, wiping out jobs, etc.

They stopped doing it where I’m at a few months ago. No hate towards campers like you but I’m really glad they did this. Sadly it’s a few bad apples that ruin it for the rest of them. They were attracting the wrong crowd. I think it all started when they quit staying open all night. It’d be nice to have the convenience of popping in to the store during the night but it’s just not a thing anymore at least where I’m at. Good luck and stay safe out there.
Becca, as you adventure on longer distances in your new rig you may want to consider getting a good CB and a Power MIC for it. The long-distance truckers know where the best places are for Overnights especially in/close to the cities they deliver to. Having a CB IS GREAT FOR REROUTING AROUND TRAFFIC JAMS. We have a Class A and our CB has saved us many hours of traffic jams and where to park a larger RV for the night.
@@addictedtopussy69 Agree about HAM RADIOS for Emergencies and multi state or international communications but I was talking simple traffic jams and local spots to overnight. My CB setup does carry a good 3-9 mile distance consistently. 1 mile coverage is more a Walkie Talkie toy lol!
Our local Cabela's had a dump station and allowed overnights in the past. Just after the acquisition by Bass Pro Shops they took out the dump station, and I don't think they allow overnights anymore. If no a Harvest Host, our usual overnight boondocks on the road are Cracker Barrel or a casino.
I just discovered your channel. We were told several years ago by a security guard ar a not opened Walmart , that a Grandaughter of the Waltons had taken over the business. She changed the overnight parking rules due to people trashing the parking lot. But we were also told if you park there & go inside shopping they can't tell you to leave because you are a customer. A little tip for campers.. you can refill your own small propane canisters. There's a hose and fitting that you can get from any outdoor store. 50 bucks will save you a lot of money in the long run
@@MegaDubrock Coleman is fine. Hook up the hose. Turn your propane tank upside down. Use a thin pliers to pull the shrader valve out, to let the air out. When it starts splashing liquid out you're done. Its stinky and don't smoke around it. I can make my first TH-cam video of it if anyone wants a demonstration

I have a Walmart near me and they stopped campers and truckers park overnight . It’s sad because when people travel they need a rest stop of their going through town . On the other hand I get it . People take advantage. Take care 🌻

There's a Walmart less than 5 minutes from my home that doesn't allow overnighters. There's another about 15 minutes from home that doesn't seem to care. The first store closes at 11. The second is 24 hours. Maybe that makes a difference. I seem to remember hearing Walmart was putting a stop to overnighters a few years ago.
It seems to depend on the state and the municipality. Some cities don’t allow overnight parking at store parking lots. Only place I’ve ever had trouble with this was in Florida and California. Home Depot is a great alternative.
Walmart had a problem with a rv that people living in it for almost a year. Walmart eventually had to pay to have the rv towed because it didn't even run anymore. It was a whole thing courts were involved if I can remember correctly it was Maryland or Delaware
I’ve worked at Kroger for 6 years and before covid we were open to the public til like 1am and there would be homeless come in and cause trouble or sleep in the Starbucks area. But then when we started closing to the public earlier and we have t had that many problems. But we still get hightop conversion vans parking in the lots for a couple days every now and then. A couple regulars that I think just move from one area to another back and forth. That are just living in their vans.
Just remember when looking for a place to park, to get a few hours sleep, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. It's too easy for them to just say no, over the phone.

You could use shoe polish on the cream colored canvas storage "box" to change it to your liking. I used black on a leather brown ottoman and it worked GREAT and is still in use over 5 years later with no "rub off."
@GloryBeeFreedom actually no. The shoe polish dries relatively quickly, and there are no fumes. It soaked right in, and the only mess was me accidentally touching a spot that I just put on because I pressed a little too hard, and it tried to run. I laid cardboard down so to make sure I didn't ruin my flooring with the polish, but there are no fumes with KIWI brand leather dye. And it's rinsable with water if you spill any. And I did this project in the winter in a small bedroom about 10×10 with the door shut to keep my animals from walking on it and getting their fur on it.

First of all, early @fishingwithbecca Sunday upload! Let's goooo! Secondly, I like that you called ahead to find out if parking overnight at a Walmart was ok. That was smart and considerate of you. Unfortunately, some bad apples ruined a good thing and because of this, most Walmart's no longer welcome travelers to park overnight (some people leaving trash, dumping their grey water in the parking lot and overstaying their welcome). What's worse is that some people feel entitled to park at Walmart's and other business establishments and get upset when they are asked to leave. People have to keep in mind that these are private properties and not assume that it is ok to park there. Safe travels Becca and Skye!

I honestly can't be mad at Walmart. Some campers do unfortunately abuse the privilege and leave all types of garbage behind. People can be disgusting, so I can’t imagine some of the crap campers have left behind for others to clean up behind them.

Its been like that at all our Wal Marks in Madison, WI for years. I still see them parking in Wal Marks outside of town but usually they have other stores in the parking lot too.
Not sure on this, I have been working at Walmart for 15 years and we allow it, all we expect is to park in the furthest out the end of the lot......get lot of campers and RV's as well as truck drivers at my Walmart.
It started with that moms that her kids in her car unattended. Some old guy that was cooking accidentally started fire. 1 kid dead because she couldn't get out because of size.
Reason why Walmart doesnt allow overnight anymore: 1) crime 2) People posting how everyone can always ON Park now has even homeless people doing it. And please tell me you have some ventilation with all that diesel in the cab with you. That can be very dangerous. Especially with cooking, etc.

You have a truck camper! That’s like a van or car. You can literally park anywhere and put blackout shades on and sleep. I’ve pulled off the sides of roads and just slept undisturbed in both my car and small trailer all over the country.
Where I live, a handful of people would leave trash behind, destroy property, make a mess of the restrooms and don’t purchase anything. Can’t forget about the handful that also scam saying they have been stuck there for days etc etc begging customers for money etc
I work for a local walmart, so far mgtment is allowing it as people park down toward Murphy gas station and as long as they don't bother our customers and so forth and are also away from employee parking. But I can totally understand why the other stores are not I'm sorry you got told no.
So I actually stumbled upon this video while searching online the reason that there are so many RVs and tractor trailers parked at Walmart,overnight! I also travel out of town for work, but I'm a merchandiser that travels to different stores. So I just use my car. A lot of companies I've worked for pay for a hotel stay, if we are a certain distance from home. But sometimes even if I'm only an hour or two away from home at night, it's much easier for me to just take a nap overnight. Then continue working in that same area, the next day. I've been doing this type of work for about 15 years now. My current job requires me to travel to a lot of Walmart stores, in my home state of Pennsylvania. But also frequently visit a few of the Walmart stores in northern Maryland, as well. Over the years, I have been questioned & "checked on" by many police officers, parking lot security guards & occasionally other people too, while parked in several different places. Usually it was because I was there overnight, but sometimes it was even during the day. Half of the time, those situations resulted in being asked to 'move along' because I was not authorized to park there. So I would ask, "Well, where can I go? I don't live close by." And most of the time, the answer would be that any Walmart parking lot is the best place to go. However, that was several years ago. Way before Covid, when most Walmart stores were open 24 hours a day! So I just assumed I was told to go there because they were always open so it's very unlikely that you'll get questioned, even in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, all the Walmart stores that I know of, now close at 11pm! And it's been that way since Covid, with no plans of changing their hours, in sight. Because I have asked several Walmart employees, 'When do you think they'll go back to being open 24/7?" Sadly, the answer was always a resounding "Never!" So as far as I know, at least in the state of Pennsylvania, the ONLY place you can go shopping after 11pm is a gas station/convenience store. Which, as you know, is very not convenient at all! Because those stores have limited choices of products, and everything is overpriced! (I must note that in a few of the larger cities, I believe there may be a pharmacy that is open 24/7. But they are few and far between!) Anyway, back to the subject at hand: Now that I travel to a different Walmart store almost every night, I have noticed a trend. Even before the store is closed, there are already lots of tractor trailers, RV's, campers, Pick-up Trucks and other cars parked along the outskirts of the lot! So the fact that they are not parked close to the door, tells me that they're not there to shop, and will most likely be there overnight. So I know if I need to take a nap before driving back home, or even until the next morning, a Walmart parking lot is still the best place to be! Despite the fact that our stores now close at 11pm, there are still employees inside working overnight. They stay to stock the shelves until the store opens again at 6am. Plus, Walmart's parking lots are always well lit & stay that way till morning. Also, I've never been questioned or bothered while being parked at a Walmart store, even after hours. I have not particularly noticed signs at any of the Walmart stores that say, 'NO OVERNIGHT PARKING'. Then again, I haven't looked for them, either. But I would imagine with the amount of vehicles that I see parked in the lot of a different Walmart every night, that it must be allowed! (At least in my area.) Because whenever I have spent the entire night in my car, parked in any Walmart lot, I see that most of the same vehicles are still there in the morning. And I know that none of the larger Vehicles belong to any of the employees working overnight, obviously. LOL. It's very interesting though, some of the things I've seen while being parked in the lot of a Walmart, overnight! Don't get me wrong, usually it's very quiet and everyone keeps to themselves. In fact, you rarely ever see people get out of their vehicles. However, there were a few times where I've seen people legitimately camped out there! Meaning that they will have the porch of the camper cranked up, and the extended portion of the camper popped out. And these people will be sitting on lawn chairs, under the porch, just chilling! Almost like they're sitting there, just enjoying the scenery! 😂 Which is what? A dark, half-empty Walmart parking lot, with hardly anyone walking around in it? Even though it wasn't late into the night, it still didn't make any sense to me! 🤔🤷♀️ But you know what? Out of all the people I've seen just hanging out there, none of them were ever being obnoxious! I've never seen anyone there doing anything stupid like: littering, playing loud music, starting a campfire or cooking, getting naked, making any messes, screaming obscenities, openly drinking or partying, or really being loud at all! Everyone seems pretty respectful. So it's almost like Walmart is a welcoming Community for truckers & Campers alike! Which is why I'm surprised to see in this video that not all Walmarts are the same way! But it's must just be a mutual respect sort of thing. Meaning that no one causes a Ruckus because it would ruin it for everyone? That's just my best guess. Because believe me when I say, there are rude, obnoxious, nasty people that are very inconsiderate to others, in EVERY state! And Pennsylvania is certainly no exception! Because I see it all the time. Although I will say that the percentage of those types of people are higher in some states, than others! 😅 In conclusion, I will say to all of my fellow US travelers out there: For future reference, keep in mind that if ever you're driving through Pennsylvania or Maryland, and you need to take a break? Feel free to stop by the local Walmart parking lot! Because from my experience, they won't have a problem with it. Safe travels, everyone! 😊
Thank you for another entertaining and informative video. Just to help you a little bit with understanding ratchet size needs here's some loose guidelines. Generally speaking a ¼" drive socket wrench is for smaller or light duty nuts/bolts. A ⅜" drive ratchet is your most common medium duty go to for nuts/bolts. ½" drive ratchets are more heavy duty larger nuts/bolts. Again, this is a really simplistic explanation, but should get you going in the right direction.
Some hotel chains are turning to A.I. and when a guest registers for the night, they are required to list their vehicle and the tag information. The camera security system then scans the parking lot and when they see a camper / etc. there that's not registered with the guest. Management will then attempt to make contact and offer to allow them to stay there overnight, but for a fee. If not, they are asked to move or, they are towed. New laws in some states do not allow the driver to leave the scene once a tow truck is on scene. They are forced to pay the tow truck driver, or be towed. If not, law enforcement is called. Many hotel chains are in the process of moving to this model. It's easy to implement with modern technology.

The GSI cup you got is one of my favs in my kit. Tip for you with that, find a wide rubber band or silicone bracelet that fits around the top edge to stop you burning your lips… ask me how I know.
You alt to look into Heater Meals - truckstops sold them back 30 years ago and you can still find them, you don’t have to cook them- they cook them selfs, in the box, just open it up turn it upside down on the tray and add the packet of water to the tray, then slide it back into the box, and in about 5 minutes- it’s ready, they are delicious- back then they were about $7.00 now there around $10.00 each, that’s pretty good, you could keep them for those times when your camping in another balloon room, haha- 🤠♥️🐾✝️🇺🇸🍀🌲🕯️🥃

I’ve seen some that say no overnight parking The State of Florida's Welcome Centers, Rest Areas and Turnpike Service Plazas are generally equipped with phones for use by travelers in case of emergency. Overnight camping is not permitted, but visitors may stay for up to three hours.
I haven't had a problem with Walmart but I don't call to ask either. The way I do it, ioverlander and also if there's 18 wheelers there then it's safe for me too. So just follow the trucks.
Sorry, if I missed it, but I didn't see a handicap parking pass on your vehicle. If you don't have one, why would you be parked in a spot reserved for persons with disabillities to use your phone?

It's been an issue for a few years. The theory in the vanlife/camper community is that some people made a mess out of the parking lots and this created problems for both Walmart and the rest of the community. There are always black sheep who leave trash behind on camp sites so it's not surprising that they do it at Walmart. Some photo evidences have shown that some "trash" left behind were really big mess...
After many campers have stayed in the Walmart carpark Walmart workers have to clean up all the trash they leave behind which costs them time and money, if everybody did the right thing there would be no issue, but as usual a handful of dirty people have spoiled it for everyone,

Bad apples, mainly people staying at them and just living in campers. incidents in the lots. garbage in the lots. It used to be a big and good thing. In Canada I think they still do I'm not sure about that. But stateside is confirmed it was the reason. I think it was various incidents mainly.

Same thing where I live. Homeless druggy ,panhandlers., in the parking lot and woods next door. They overran the McDonald's till it was scary to eat there. What even made it worse was there is a major bus terminal in the Walmart parking lot. Finally the crackdown came.

When I worked @ WM they posted signs NO Trucks ( hubs is a trucker) manager told us that people were using the bathroom openly in parking lot and leaving trash everywhere. Just gross and unsanitary. I wish I was surprised but I'm actually not😢
It only takes a few to mess up something great. When I was traveling, I had to park at a rest area because the truck stops are cracking down too. Sucks when you're traveling, and you just need a quick nap but the side of the road doesn't feel as safe. One of my favorites .. Many cargo van expeditors overnight at Planet Fitness locations that are open 24h. If you buy the black card membership they are good everywhere plus you get free showers.
They are cracking down too. I got towed at one last year

I've been using truck stop front lots that don't have "no overnight parking signs." Most have time limit signs, but I haven't been run off yet. Some new Love's have RV hookup sites.

I wouldn’t say they are much better. There have been many stories of people trying to break into cars and trucks at truck stops.
Easier to ask for forgiveness then permission in some situations. If you do it stealth wise, and don't make a big scene, you could literally "camp" anywhere. I've seen folks on here do it in airport parking lots, suburban neighborhoods, downtown in busy cities, in hotel parking lots, at hospitals and even casinos.
Again, just don't be obvious with what you're doing and you'll likely be fine. Nobody really cares unless you are a hassle or a headache.

I'm a guy, and I was a truck driver for 45 years. Also if you're river fishing try a Castmaster and a super duper. Both work for steelhead, trout, bass. Cropie.
It's not about overnight camping at Walmart, it's about the mass of homeless people living in their cars that stay at Walmart parking lots long term. Sad, but true.

It was a Store by Store basis I was told by a district manager I was told it was caused by people coming to camp but not leaving or coming to camp And throwing their litter not into one of the 100 trash cans they have they throw it all over the parking lots.And yes the Store Managers know that not all campers are the same but unfortunately the bad have ruined it for the others.

Yeah. I just pop my window covers up right away and I'm usually exhausted from working so I'm asleep and quiet. When I walk the dog at night sometimes there are bound to be people noticing us, but I haven't been told to leave any of the Walmarts yet. I was at one for two weeks straight. I think if you just don't leave trash and clean up after your dog you're fine.

I use work at Walmart in Attleboro Massachusetts stocking 3rd shift and a lot homeless people caused fights drinking an trash everyday so they are ones who stopped many Walmarts from over night resting..even had couple who tried Rob trucks..

I had the same experience while working at Walmart. Some people stayed overnight at our Walmart, then used the excuse that their vehicle wouldn't start. They conned our local Salvation Army and food pantry. We finally used the local and State police to get them out of town.
Definitely a YMMV situation. I still see campers (not only homeless living out of their car) parked overnight at my local Walmart stores, I guarantee they aren't asking for permission though just taking the risk of getting that knock in the middle of the night. Keep in mind a lot of Walmart locations have security patrolling all day and night now too, and nearly if not all of these have signs everywhere saying no overnight parking. Leave no trace, don't disturb anyone and you should be fine regardless.
All of the Walmart stores in our area stopped allowing overnight camping because they would leave tons of trash in the lot, and we have had people overdosing in their vehicles.

Sorry bout the walmart mess. I constantly use auto parts store parking. There is always vehicles there staying over night. Always ask ahead when you come into different states. Some of your viewers who own property would most definitely host you over night. I will step up as a property owner in GA. 15 minutes off I-20 in lake country, 40 mins. Southeast of Atlanta. My understanding is that in a lot of cases it's not really even up to Wal*Mart as they lease the land the stores are on and the parking lots, so they have to just abide by local laws/ordinances. I bet if you called and asked all along they probably would have said no you can't but maybe they didn't start cracking down until recently, who knows. In the past, I relayed on Walmart for parking overnight. One of my stepdaughters ended up in a hospital about two hundred miles from home. My wife and I slept in our car in a Walmart parking lot to save money and to be at my stepdaughter hospital bedside.
Who ever your calling is wrong I went to the Walmart site and this is what it says While we do not offer electrical service or accommodations typically necessary for RV customers, Walmart values RV travelers and considers them among our best customers. Consequently, we do permit RV parking on our store parking lots as we are able. Permission to park is extended by individual store managers, based on availability of parking space and local laws. Please contact management in each store to ensure accommodations before parking your RV.

ironically the actual Walmart workers probably don't read the Walmart website. I know that happens in plenty of stores - they have their own "internal" data systems that are different than the website for customers.
my local Wal mart stopped letting people stay overnight because of the garbage that was left and how many people were staying for weeks at a time and using Wal marts' facilities. I don't blame them.

They stopped doing it where I’m at a few months ago. No hate towards campers like you but I’m really glad they did this. Sadly it’s a few bad apples that ruin it for the rest of them. They were attracting the wrong crowd. I think it all started when they quit staying open all night. It’d be nice to have the convenience of popping in to the store during the night but it’s just not a thing anymore at least where I’m at. Good luck and stay safe out there.

Becca, as you adventure on longer distances in your new rig you may want to consider getting a good CB and a Power MIC for it. The long-distance truckers know where the best places are for Overnights especially in/close to the cities they deliver to. Having a CB IS GREAT FOR REROUTING AROUND TRAFFIC JAMS. We have a Class A and our CB has saved us many hours of traffic jams and where to park a larger RV for the night.
CB range is laughable. Pretty much line of sight. For emergencies you are better with a HAM radio which has 100 times the range and users.

Our local Cabela's had a dump station and allowed overnights in the past. Just after the acquisition by Bass Pro Shops they took out the dump station, and I don't think they allow overnights anymore. If no a Harvest Host, our usual overnight boondocks on the road are Cracker Barrel or a casino.
I just discovered your channel. We were told several years ago by a security guard ar a not opened Walmart , that a Grandaughter of the Waltons had taken over the business. She changed the overnight parking rules due to people trashing the parking lot. But we were also told if you park there & go inside shopping they can't tell you to leave because you are a customer. A little tip for campers.. you can refill your own small propane canisters. There's a hose and fitting that you can get from any outdoor store. 50 bucks will save you a lot of money in the long run

@@MegaDubrock Coleman is fine. Hook up the hose. Turn your propane tank upside down. Use a thin pliers to pull the shrader valve out, to let the air out. There's a Walmart less than 5 minutes from my home that doesn't allow overnighters. There's another about 15 minutes from home that doesn't seem to care. The first store closes at 11. The second is 24 hours. Maybe that makes a difference. I seem to remember hearing Walmart was putting a stop to overnighters a few years ago.
It seems to depend on the state and the municipality. Some cities don’t allow overnight parking at store parking lots. Only place I’ve ever had trouble with this was in Florida and California. Home Depot is a great alternative.
Walmart had a problem with a rv that people living in it for almost a year. Walmart eventually had to pay to have the rv towed because it didn't even run anymore. It was a whole thing courts were involved if I can remember correctly it was Maryland or Delaware

I’ve worked at Kroger for 6 years and before covid we were open to the public til like 1am and there would be homeless come in and cause trouble or sleep in the Starbucks area. But then when we started closing to the public earlier and we have t had that many problems. But we still get hightop conversion vans parking in the lots for a couple days every now and then. A couple regulars that I think just move from one area to another back and forth. That are just living in their vans.

You could use shoe polish on the cream colored canvas storage "box" to change it to your liking. I used black on a leather brown ottoman and it worked GREAT and is still in use over 5 years later with no "rub off."

@GloryBeeFreedom actually no. The shoe polish dries relatively quickly, and there are no fumes. It soaked right in, and the only mess was me accidentally touching a spot that I just put on because I pressed a little too hard, and it tried to run. I laid cardboard down so to make sure I didn't ruin my flooring with the polish, but there are no fumes with KIWI brand leather dye. And it's rinsable with water if you spill any. And I did this project in the winter in a small bedroom about 10×10 with the door shut to keep my animals from walking on it and getting their fur on it.

Secondly, I like that you called ahead to find out if parking overnight at a Walmart was ok. That was smart and considerate of you. Unfortunately, some bad apples ruined a good thing and because of this, most Walmart's no longer welcome travelers to park overnight (some people leaving trash, dumping their grey water in the parking lot and overstaying their welcome). What's worse is that some people feel entitled to park at Walmart's and other business establishments and get upset when they are asked to leave. People have to keep in mind that these are private properties and not assume that it is ok to park there.

I honestly can't be mad at Walmart. Some campers do unfortunately abuse the privilege and leave all types of garbage behind. People can be disgusting, so I can’t imagine some of the crap campers have left behind for others to clean up behind them.

Not sure on this, I have been working at Walmart for 15 years and we allow it, all we expect is to park in the furthest out the end of the lot......get lot of campers and RV's as well as truck drivers at my Walmart.
It started with that moms that her kids in her car unattended. Some old guy that was cooking accidentally started fire. 1 kid dead because she couldn't get out because of size.

You have a truck camper! That’s like a van or car. You can literally park anywhere and put blackout shades on and sleep. I’ve pulled off the sides of roads and just slept undisturbed in both my car and small trailer all over the country.
Where I live, a handful of people would leave trash behind, destroy property, make a mess of the restrooms and don’t purchase anything. Can’t forget about the handful that also scam saying they have been stuck there for days etc etc begging customers for money etc
I work for a local walmart, so far mgtment is allowing it as people park down toward Murphy gas station and as long as they don't bother our customers and so forth and are also away from employee parking. But I can totally understand why the other stores are not I'm sorry you got told no.

Northeast Walmart’s and off-season car/truck camping in general is tough in New England.
So I actually stumbled upon this video while searching online the reason that there are so many RVs and tractor trailers parked at Walmart,overnight! I also travel out of town for work, but I'm a merchandiser that travels to different stores. So I just use my car. A lot of companies I've worked for pay for a hotel stay, if we are a certain distance from home. But sometimes even if I'm only an hour or two away from home at night, it's much easier for me to just take a nap overnight. Then continue working in that same area, the next day. I've been doing this type of work for about 15 years now. My current job requires me to travel to a lot of Walmart stores, in my home state of Pennsylvania. But also frequently visit a few of the Walmart stores in northern Maryland, as well.
Over the years, I have been questioned & "checked on" by many police officers, parking lot security guards & occasionally other people too, while parked in several different places. Usually it was because I was there overnight, but sometimes it was even during the day. Half of the time, those situations resulted in being asked to 'move along' because I was not authorized to park there. So I would ask, "Well, where can I go? I don't live close by." And most of the time, the answer would be that any Walmart parking lot is the best place to go. However, that was several years ago. Way before Covid, when most Walmart stores were open 24 hours a day! So I just assumed I was told to go there because they were always open so it's very unlikely that you'll get questioned, even in the middle of the night.
Unfortunately, all the Walmart stores that I know of, now close at 11pm! And it's been that way since Covid, with no plans of changing their hours, in sight. Because I have asked several Walmart employees, 'When do you think they'll go back to being open 24/7?" Sadly, the answer was always a resounding "Never!" So as far as I know, at least in the state of Pennsylvania, the ONLY place you can go shopping after 11pm is a gas station/convenience store. Which, as you know, is very not convenient at all! Because those stores have limited choices of products, and everything is overpriced! (I must note that in a few of the larger cities, I believe there may be a pharmacy that is open 24/7. But they are few and far between!)
Anyway, back to the subject at hand: Now that I travel to a different Walmart store almost every night, I have noticed a trend. Even before the store is closed, there are already lots of tractor trailers, RV's, campers, Pick-up Trucks and other cars parked along the outskirts of the lot! So the fact that they are not parked close to the door, tells me that they're not there to shop, and will most likely be there overnight.
So I know if I need to take a nap before driving back home, or even until the next morning, a Walmart parking lot is still the best place to be! Despite the fact that our stores now close at 11pm, there are still employees inside working overnight. They stay to stock the shelves until the store opens again at 6am. Plus, Walmart's parking lots are always well lit & stay that way till morning. Also, I've never been questioned or bothered while being parked at a Walmart store, even after hours. I have not particularly noticed signs at any of the Walmart stores that say, 'NO OVERNIGHT PARKING'. Then again, I haven't looked for them, either. But I would imagine with the amount of vehicles that I see parked in the lot of a different Walmart every night, that it must be allowed! (At least in my area.) Because whenever I have spent the entire night in my car, parked in any Walmart lot, I see that most of the same vehicles are still there in the morning. And I know that none of the larger Vehicles belong to any of the employees working overnight, obviously. LOL.
It's very interesting though, some of the things I've seen while being parked in the lot of a Walmart, overnight! Don't get me wrong, usually it's very quiet and everyone keeps to themselves. In fact, you rarely ever see people get out of their vehicles. However, there were a few times where I've seen people legitimately camped out there! Meaning that they will have the porch of the camper cranked up, and the extended portion of the camper popped out. And these people will be sitting on lawn chairs, under the porch, just chilling! Almost like they're sitting there, just enjoying the scenery! 😂
Which is what? A dark, half-empty Walmart parking lot, with hardly anyone walking around in it? Even though it wasn't late into the night, it still didn't make any sense to me! 🤔🤷♀️ But you know what? Out of all the people I've seen just hanging out there, none of them were ever being obnoxious! I've never seen anyone there doing anything stupid like: littering, playing loud music, starting a campfire or cooking, getting naked, making any messes, screaming obscenities, openly drinking or partying, or really being loud at all! Everyone seems pretty respectful. So it's almost like Walmart is a welcoming Community for truckers & Campers alike! Which is why I'm surprised to see in this video that not all Walmarts are the same way! But it's must just be a mutual respect sort of thing. Meaning that no one causes a Ruckus because it would ruin it for everyone? That's just my best guess. Because believe me when I say, there are rude, obnoxious, nasty people that are very inconsiderate to others, in EVERY state! And Pennsylvania is certainly no exception! Because I see it all the time. Although I will say that the percentage of those types of people are higher in some states, than others! 😅
In conclusion, I will say to all of my fellow US travelers out there: For
future reference, keep in mind that if ever you're driving through Pennsylvania or Maryland, and you need to take a break? Feel free to stop by the local Walmart parking lot! Because from my experience, they won't have a problem with it. Safe travels, everyone! 😊

Thank you for another entertaining and informative video. Just to help you a little bit with understanding ratchet size needs here's some loose guidelines. Generally speaking a ¼" drive socket wrench is for smaller or light duty nuts/bolts. A ⅜" drive ratchet is your most common medium duty go to for nuts/bolts. ½" drive ratchets are more heavy duty larger nuts/bolts. Again, this is a really simplistic explanation, but should get you going in the right direction.

You can always in a pinch stuff camp at a hotel as long as you keep it low-key
Some hotel chains are turning to A.I. and when a guest registers for the night, they are required to list their vehicle and the tag information. The camera security system then scans the parking lot and when they see a camper / etc. there that's not registered with the guest. Management will then attempt to make contact and offer to allow them to stay there overnight, but for a fee. If not, they are asked to move or, they are towed. New laws in some states do not allow the driver to leave the scene once a tow truck is on scene. They are forced to pay the tow truck driver, or be towed. If not, law enforcement is called. Many hotel chains are in the process of moving to this model. It's easy to implement with modern technology.

The GSI cup you got is one of my favs in my kit. Tip for you with that, find a wide rubber band or silicone bracelet that fits around the top edge to stop you burning your lips… ask me how I know.

You alt to look into Heater Meals - truckstops sold them back 30 years ago and you can still find them, you don’t have to cook them- they cook them selfs, in the box, just open it up turn it upside down on the tray and add the packet of water to the tray, then slide it back into the box, and in about 5 minutes- it’s ready, they are delicious- back then they were about $7.00 now there around $10.00 each, that’s pretty good, you could keep them for those times when your camping in another balloon room, haha- 🤠♥️🐾✝️🇺🇸🍀🌲🕯️🥃

The State of Florida's Welcome Centers, Rest Areas and Turnpike Service Plazas are generally equipped with phones for use by travelers in case of emergency. Overnight camping is not permitted, but visitors may stay for up to three hours.
No car camping at Cabellas in Lehi, Utah. The store told me Lehi police department came and posted no overnight parking signs.
Wamart in cranston allows you to camp . I have seen a few cars & small suv camping there. Even in Coventry at cracker barrel
I haven't had a problem with Walmart but I don't call to ask either. The way I do it, ioverlander and also if there's 18 wheelers there then it's safe for me too. So just follow the trucks.
Sorry, if I missed it, but I didn't see a handicap parking pass on your vehicle. If you don't have one, why would you be parked in a spot reserved for persons with disabillities to use your phone?

It's been an issue for a few years. The theory in the vanlife/camper community is that some people made a mess out of the parking lots and this created problems for both Walmart and the rest of the community. There are always black sheep who leave trash behind on camp sites so it's not surprising that they do it at Walmart. Some photo evidences have shown that some "trash" left behind were really big mess...
After many campers have stayed in the Walmart carpark Walmart workers have to clean up all the trash they leave behind which costs them time and money, if everybody did the right thing there would be no issue, but as usual a handful of dirty people have spoiled it for everyone,

Bad apples, mainly people staying at them and just living in campers. incidents in the lots. garbage in the lots. It used to be a big and good thing. In Canada I think they still do I'm not sure about that. But stateside is confirmed it was the reason. I think it was various incidents mainly.
