Bro, since se can't sing in music class the teacher plays some melodies an stuff and then we can play some of our music. Already blasted Will Wood's chemical overreaction and this time, imma blast this.
The clock (or what I think is a clock) in the beginning shows 6:65, a time that should not be possible. After that it shows 6:66, and if you really think about it it’s basically a more hidden way of showing 666. What does it all mean? I don’t know.
Hey, uh, unrelated but i'd like to ask if you could put a siezure warning in the title? Epilepsy is a real condition and the warning's at the end after you've already watched it soo.. If you could please put one in the title, where you can see on any platform and dont have to ruin the one at the end? Thanks! Edit: Just saw the one in the description, but i stand by this because A. People tend to not read the description. B. On platforms like a TV you can't see description at all. Edit 2: Thank you so much!!
Yeah, he did that on purpose. The song is about drug abuse and The warning at the end is supposed to symbolize not being able to go back to your old self.
Lol yea that was way too funny but he did on purpose as is symbolises that now it's too late to be warned. The character can't go back like we watched the video.
For me its "Gumi English" that makes me laugh uncontrollably for no reason Edit: not Gumi English by itself, but when ppl call Gumi that like it's her full name lmao
Me: I'm having a sensory meltdown. What will I do about this? *sees the most overstimulating song ever* Me: I have an idea. And it somehow fixes it. Wild.
I know this is about drug addiction, but as someone who has a chronic illness/disability I also somehow relate to a lot of the lyrics. "Will my disease be cured?" "My disease can't be cured" Are pretty obvious, the feeling of repeatedly, desperately asking doctors if theres a cure, even just something to ease the pain, and always being told NO. "The infirmary isn't for skipping class" reminds me of my school time, being accused of faking illnesses to skip lessons because I took so much sick time off, even though it was for legitimate pain, but nobody believes that pain can be constant or get so bad so often. "Will I regain my sanity" is just...being in constant pain fucks with your mental health, and often causes irreparable trauma. Many people with chronic illnesses develop PTSD or symptoms similar to it. Its super sucky. "I can't become a princess" "I can't return to those times" is not being able to "become a princess" or achieve your dreams/ambitions because the pain won't allow you to, nor being able to "return to those times" before the illness was as bad, like early childhood. The intermittent TEARS bit is, well, you spend a lot of time crying. Pain does that to you. I know this isn't the actual meanings, but this is how I always end up interpreting it.
ah man, i'm so sorry you have to go through this. this probably doesnt help but as someone with a slight eating disorder i find this song very relatable as well.
I'm sorry you have to go through this as well, just as the person above me said. Also like the person above, I deal with severe mental illness and I can relate this song to myself as well. Especially with how much sensory stuff is in here, as well as most of the lyrics and the pleading of the girl.
Oh man I had to scroll down and see if I was alone in relating to this so hard despite having 0 experience with drugs,,, I have fibromyalgia, migraines and overextending joints, and all of it is just a lot of chronic pain to deal with at once. If it's not one of them causing me problems, then it's the other two.. Some days it's all three and Boy does it Suck. What's worse is that while my migraines got diagnosed early, everything else was only discovered about a year ago. I'm 24. I'd go to doctors complaining about really bad pains, but I was always told to just exercise more. This was mostly because I was mildly overweight and inactive (bc, you know, chronic pain) and doctors never bothered to look deeper into things than just blame my weight - until eventually two years ago one doctor discovered BY ACCIDENT that I have a metabolism disorder; even dieting doesn't help my weight much since my body doesn't work like it should. Still, it took a whole year and an embarrassing, sobbing breakdown in front of a doctor to actually look into it and lo and behold; a lot of issues. For my whole life, I grew up thinking what I felt was normal. Everyone told me nobody liked whining so I never mentioned it, even when it was bad. For years, I was ridiculed and kept thinking something was wrong with me in a way that was my fault, that I was the problem and I was just lazy and uncaring. I couldn't even muster energy for things I wanted to do. I hated myself for being that way. And then, when it feels far too late, after suffering for years, it turns out I myself was never the issue. (I'm not bitter or anything where do you get that idea? Pssh) Needless to say, mental illness has been kicking my ass and the Current Times aren't making things much easier. Self-pity aside, living with chronic pain is utter hell. For me the worst part is that it's not externally visible, because nobody believes me without actual documents proving my diagnosis - if even then. I don't know what kind of chronic pain you have to deal with, but I hope that you're doing well and if not, I hope that things get better for you! Good luck!! I hope you have a good day!!
The mushroom the "princess" ate is called Psilocybe cubensis, or called magic mushrooms. Its a hallucinogenic drug, it also triggers mental problems when consumed.
Wth i just found edgy persons under your comment that want to ate the mushroom, bruh the effects are very very harsh and i dont think it's a cool and quirky thing trying to eat it
before the MV for this song was released, I thought it was about bullying. "the infirmary isn't for skipping class" - I figured that line was said to the girl in this song for trying to escape the torment of her peers constantly. that's why I figured the song is so loud- the noise is what she deals with in the form of people, and in the infirmary, it was all settled, but the one person who could've helped didn't understand why she skipped so often. but after seeing the video, I understand the interpretation of drug abuse as well. maybe using drugs as a coping method to try and escape to a new world?? oh maretu
I feel like the warning being at the end of the video signifies the victim already took the drug and it's too late to turn back.... still gave me a freaking heart attack though. also, the bridge is written in just hiragana, aka the first script japanese children learn. I think it's supposed to signify a young child, since the majority of (female) children dream of becoming a princess.
I think the song is talking about drugs because there's seizures and the lyrics: will my disease be cured, and the next line is can't be cure,it can means that the person regret using drugs and try to turn her/himself back to normal. The warning Maretu purposely put at the end could mean it's too late.
Agreed. The line "i can't become a princess" might refer that drugs can alter your perception where you think you're "superhuman" but after it wears off,you realize that you're actually nobody.
@@chloraquarium-2524 i thought that line was more about losing their innocence. they had so much potential for a good life but lost it all when they took some drugs and now their entire life revolves around an inescapable cycle of addiction. and even if they can somehow find a way to recover from the medical aspects of addiction, their life, reputation, and mental health is permanently ruined and in turn lead them back into more addiction.
@@ReigoVassal i was talking specifically about the line "i cant be a princess" immediately after that line and part of the verse is "i cant go back to that life"
theory: the song is about a school girl who suffers from some kind of torment that led her to doing drugs at first, the drugs was just so she could cope, but over time it became an addiction and she regrets it she keeps going to the school nurse in an attempt to ask for help, but the nurse brushes it off as her trying to skip class, which leads her to become extremely stressed the warning at the end of the video is meant to show that when in a drug addiction, you realize that it’s a problem when it’s already too late
I can add on when it said "the infirmary isn't for skipping class" so I believe that it's a classmate and the classmate is the tormenter bullying the person in the song
This song makes me happy, the screams just comfort me so much and i just love the song transition this song is just amazing to blast into my headphones one the bus. I just cant get enough of it, ive listened to the song like 8-9 times in a row ITS JIST THAT GOOD LIKE ISTG THIS IS A COMFORT SONG FOR ME I WISH I HEARD THIS SONG EARLIER IN LIFE
Fun fact: if you wear headphones or earbuds, the side of each one ( left or right ) has a different pitch to the singing. One has a more high pitched voice, and the other side has a lower voice. I like the low voice side lol
Yeah, I was listening to the N-a-m-i-d-a part with broken headphones. One side was working, and the other wasn't. The working side was the one with the lower voice, so I was pretty surprised
what makes this sadder is the lack of kanji in the mv. for context, japanese has three "alphabets" - i'll show them below and use the word for world: hiragana: せかい (sekai) katakana: セカイ (sekai) kanji form: 世界 (sekai) hiragana and katakana are syllabaries, while kanji is.. i don't know how to explain it, but kanji characters are used to represent different concepts and such, and are mainly derived from the chinese language. ANYWAY, the usage of mainly kana is seen as elementary, like how big writing in english is seen as more childish. other than in the beginning and during the "the infirmary is not for sleeping" parts, there's mostly kana in the mv for this song, emphasizing just how young the girl (miku in this case) is. i'm sorry for rambling haha. please correct me if i'm wrong!! i'm studying japanese and i'm not too knowledgeable regarding the language/culture yet, so i could easily be completely wrong ^^
Adding on to kanji: In writing, it may be difficult to distinguish words that are similar or are the exact same using just hiragana or katakana. Using kanji can help distinguish them since they show different meanings and can differentiate the two words more than just kana alone would
This is an absolute fucking gem. Almost impossible to find anything that seemlessly combines hardstyle, breakcore, noise and even a little bit of metal in such a heavy way. Maretu doesn't even have any songs similar to this as-is. Anyone have any recommendations?
agreed! this song is amazing, it combines so many genres, definitely wanna find more stuff like that that has breakcore elements but combined with other genres
It's a symbol about how it's already too late. The character already took the drug just like how you watched the video, and it’s too late to be warned now
Pupilupi I love that theory! It makes sense, and add a feeling of dread and regret, makes ya feel like.... mysterious. Yknow? Sorry sorry XD But great job, that makes this song 10x better!
NOW I GET THE BEGINNING “The princess who ate a mushroom” that explains all of this drug trip! That’s because she ate a mushroom now she’s on this weird psychedelic trip??? That’s why the line “Hey! the infirmary isn’t for skipping class.” makes sense. She wants to go to the infirmary to tell the doctor about her drug addiction, and the line “can’t be cured” is that the doctor can’t cure her disease im sorry I’m bad at explaining shit edit: um im glad yall like this shitty theory 👀 edit: heehaw
Personally, I tied it to cannibalism since the second sentence is "The serious affair of the mushroom country" and at the end in many translations, the singer says "Can't go back in time, can't pardon my crime"
I’m screwed, but I’ll stay here, I love this place, it’s warm, rejecting, but constantly revolves around mental health and signs that help, educate, and are fun with some bits that are addictive…but I love this place^^ Many are nice!
meaning of the flash warning at the end: MARETU always puts this at the end of their songs hinting the song is either reversed or it is showing how when you smoke you think of what could happen too late. I really love the message since my mom smokes.
3:30 idk how to explain it but the red captions where the full word is just there without it showing the letters one at a time immediately after the part before gives me the chills
This song really did just say "Don't do veggies, Stay in drugs, and eat your school" Okay im sorry that was a bad joke- Edit: Thanks for the likes guys lol [Also one question did this really get into an r/ihadastroke video or something because if so that sounds epic]
OH MY GOD I FINALLY GET IT "the princess ate a mushroom" in the beggining is refering to the drug, and then at the end of the song, miku refers to herself as "princess", so miku's the "princess" that took shrooms and the entire song is meant to simulate the hallucinations she gets while on shrooms. I can't believe it took me two entire years to realise that.
@@auauauauauauauau40 OMG i see what you mean!! since miku is asking the doctor to "cure her disease", it's like drugs are an escape for her pain or "disease" i suppose
Re: the description, apologies if you noted this and I just missed it but I'm also totally sure this song is about drug abuse, not just given the stuff with the "mushrooms" and the imagery but the syringes in the cover art later on...obviously they're medical, but especially in the context of what we see in this song and just MARETU in general I don't see a reason to necessarily associate them with a literal doctor lmao. Whether the drug abuse is the cause of her "disease" or if it's a coping mechanism for the disease is another question.
Theory because why not? “The princess who ate a mushroom” wild mushrooms are dangerous for the body, for example the mushroom she ate may have been a drug mushroom, And you need medical help immediately if you eat one “you can’t be cured” she can’t be cured it’s a drug mushroom you can’t Live a normal life if you get one “you can’t be cured”
My mom’s friends were poisoned by one of their friends in their group that fed them a “fresh” mushroom and everyone ate them except that one kid that hated mushrooms (me) and my mom who was allergic to mushrooms anyway, all of them got so sick that they had to be hospitalized for weeks and including the kid of the mother that fed the poison to everyone because I heard from him (he used to be my friend) when he got out of hospitalization that he was also fed that too at dinner.IDK, but it was probably the family putting charges on the person who fed that mushrooms then. By experience, moral of the story is don’t eat mushrooms that weren’t from a supermarket, please it’s not pleasant it’s not quirky it’s a scary experience.
the beginning: nice and calming music 9 seconds in: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
@@teeheemoxx well, the song is serious and isn't really one to make anything positive or funny out of. I know that songs are miss-used a lot, but idk why, i really hate how animators use that line "Doctor, can my disease be cured?" It kinda seems like not only are they insulting the song, and MARETU who writes his songs on dark reality, but also the mentally unstable people that relate and ask that everyday to get the response of "can't be cured"
I used to like sam smite music now I have synth-wave play list full of Perturbator music and a metal playlist with music like this and poppy blood mony
we know for sure this song is about someone abusing drugs, but here's some things: Namida means tears, maybe referring to bloodshot eyes. The "hunger" being repeated at the start could refer to them wanting more of it. "The nurse's office is no place for skipping" line morphing into nai nai nai could be the person reaching out to the school nurse for help, but after being accused of faking to bunk classes, decides to go back. Hardtek is a sort of music mostly played at parties and is characterised by a pounding repetitive kick drum, maybe referring that they purchased mushrooms(?)/drugs there and also the rush making their heart beat so fast they can feel it in their ears. "I can't become a princess " & "I can't go back to that time", maybe referring that they're too far gone. "I can't win against this pain" maybe that they can't fight off their urges. other people have said this, but the warning coming only at the end, maybe refers to the person realizing when its too late, and/or people only taking action after a casualty. Trivia: Shouki(the word used for sanity) can also refer to soberness. Itami(the word used for pain) also refers to ache.
From 1:53 to the end of these hallucinations, she ate the audible word “go”, which means that she was most likely prompted to take these substances, not only pain, but also some other person. Now she hears a voice to take these “mushrooms” again and see those hallucinations again, after which, when she comes to her mind, she says: I'm not going to be a princess anymore, and so on. It is clear that she did not want such an outcome, she thought that once and that's it, well, one more time and that's it, the warning at the end says: it's too late to warn
the fact that my headphones have it on at full volume and its not even that loud to me. my family can hear it through my headphones and are genuinely concerned.
That happens to me a lot. Especially since me and my family go from time to time to restaurants and they always have concerts so I have to put my volume at 100% to hear a bit and then the next day, when my ears get reset, I am questioning how bad my hearing got last night
today is new year's eve 14:25 24-hour format, i downloaded the file and created a file that drops the beat at exactly 20 seconds, i will time it at 11:59:40 pm
Finally a translation of this song, and an awesome bit of reading as well thank you for your research and debunking of this song, not understanding japanese is a pain sometimes
Idk if anyone else has pointed out this connection, but psilocybin (the drug from the mushrooms) has recently been suggested to be a treatment for anxiety and depression, among other things. I think your analysis of it being a time of change in the desc is interesting as well. With that information, I think the song is about a person that is taking the first step into treatment for her mental illness, and she is terrified. She has no idea how this will affect her and is taking a huge leap of faith. The refrain of someone chastising her for using the infirmary to skip class sounds like she got shamed for reaching out for help in the past. It makes me think the person shaming her doesn't take her mental illness seriously, implying she is just looking for excuses to get out of class. The song is aggressive and abrasive, with screaming sounds and references to tears, which to me conveys a sense of self hatred. It is common to feel weak for seeking help, which is possibly why she feels that way. The song also has a heavy, hard-hitting, and fast beat, which reminds me of an elevated heart rate associated with a panic attack. The psychedelic effects seem like a reference to psilocybin and it's hallucinogenic properties. At the end she expresses regret for not being able to live out her childhood dream of being a princess. The intro ties it all together: the princess that ate a mushroom. The intro also implies she was a princess all along, even throughout her struggles with mental health, because she is eating the mushroom as the princess, not as someone who could have been a princess. Idk man I dumped all this here to procrastinate my schoolwork lmao Edit: her conversations with the doctor are also mentioned. In the first verse: will my illness be cured? She is putting her trust in the doctor. In the second verse: will I regain my sanity? I'm guessing she either had a mental breakdown or a bad experience with the medication and is having doubts. The cutscene where it says "can't be cured" also seems like a manifestation of her doubts.
I've been waiting for a translation ever since the album came out! Even though there's not many lyrics, this has to be one of my favorite songs from him yet -- thank you!!
(this is a little late, but i just thought of this so likE-) i think that when the nurse says that the infirmary isn't a place to skip class is when the girl who has the addiction sneaks into the infirmary during class to use the drugs in there and the nurse catches her, and maybe that's where she gets taken to a doctor to try and fix the addiction.

I spend more time crying than i do eating and thats a lot

before the MV for this song was released, I thought it was about bullying. "the infirmary isn't for skipping class" - I figured that line was said to the girl in this song for trying to escape the torment of her peers constantly. that's why I figured the song is so loud- the noise is what she deals with in the form of people, and in the infirmary, it was all settled, but the one person who could've helped didn't understand why she skipped so often. but after seeing the video, I understand the interpretation of drug abuse as well. maybe using drugs as a coping method to try and escape to a new world?? oh maretu
Oh my, I love your theory so much!!!!!
@@karasuhana awww thanks sm!! you did a good job translating this
that "oh maretu" made me laugh so hard lma
That last line ( Oh maretu ) killed me lol
I feel like the warning being at the end of the video signifies the victim already took the drug and it's too late to turn back.... still gave me a freaking heart attack though. also, the bridge is written in just hiragana, aka the first script japanese children learn. I think it's supposed to signify a young child, since the majority of (female) children dream of becoming a princess.

THE BEGINNING SCARED ME SO BAD
i got so scared i had to pause the vid and turn the volume down, only then did i continue with the song
i had this at full volume with earbuds in at the beginning and lets just say i regretted it dearly
same
wow such a cute song 😻
AHH-
It scared my heart is that bad..?
@@gusty7153 it can be both.
Not to mention that the second lyric is not "disease" but "sanity"
@@ReigoVassal i was talking specifically about the line "i cant be a princess" immediately after that line and part of the verse is "i cant go back to that life"
@@gusty7153 yeah that's why I said both. It can be her innocence, dreams, her previous normal life, or narssisistic side, or can be all of it.
theory:
the song is about a school girl who suffers from some kind of torment that led her to doing drugs
at first, the drugs was just so she could cope, but over time it became an addiction and she regrets it
she keeps going to the school nurse in an attempt to ask for help, but the nurse brushes it off as her trying to skip class, which leads her to become extremely stressed
the warning at the end of the video is meant to show that when in a drug addiction, you realize that it’s a problem when it’s already too late
You are genius🧍🏻♀️
Yes
I can add on when it said "the infirmary isn't for skipping class" so I believe that it's a classmate and the classmate is the tormenter bullying the person in the song
I thought there was a princess who got addicted to mushrooms and lost her sanity, considering the first few seconds of the video
Noticed everything except for the fact of the warning

what makes this sadder is the lack of kanji in the mv. for context, japanese has three "alphabets" - i'll show them below and use the word for world:
hiragana:
せかい (sekai)
katakana:
セカイ (sekai)
kanji form:
世界 (sekai)
hiragana and katakana are syllabaries, while kanji is.. i don't know how to explain it, but kanji characters are used to represent different concepts and such, and are mainly derived from the chinese language.
It confirms everything is perfect there
Adding on to kanji: In writing, it may be difficult to distinguish words that are similar or are the exact same using just hiragana or katakana. Using kanji can help distinguish them since they show different meanings and can differentiate the two words more than just kana alone would
That’s hiragana
when I compared the lyrics to the google translate's kanji, the static part became paradoxically sadder fr

Yes
She most likely ate “magic mushrooms”

And the video is hurting my eye and brain but it's worth it
Guys guys! I showed my cousin this video and he is shaking on the ground aggressively. I think he likes the music!
we know for sure this song is about someone abusing drugs, but here's some things:
Namida means tears, maybe referring to bloodshot eyes.
"I can't become a princess
" & "I can't go back to that time", maybe referring that they're too far gone.
"I can't win against this pain" maybe that they can't fight off their urges.
other people have said this, but the warning coming only at the end, maybe refers to the person realizing when its too late, and/or people only taking action after a casualty.
Trivia:
Shouki(the word used for sanity) can also refer to soberness.
I'm writing with an interpreter, so it might sound a little weird
the fact that my headphones have it on at full volume and its not even that loud to me. my family can hear it through my headphones and are genuinely concerned.
That’s how you know the song is a bop

That happens to me a lot. Especially since me and my family go from time to time to restaurants and they always have concerts so I have to put my volume at 100% to hear a bit and then the next day, when my ears get reset, I am questioning how bad my hearing got last night

Sunny apartment Room 203 mushrooms, literally
Idk man I dumped all this here to procrastinate my schoolwork lmao
Edit: her conversations with the doctor are also mentioned.

The last song you will hear when the quiet kid get up from the chair:
Someone: "So what type of music do you like?"
Me: *opens this video and plays*
Someone: "HOLY JESUS"
One of my friends has the same music taste as me so we both really like this song
I've been waiting for a translation ever since the album came out! Even though there's not many lyrics, this has to be one of my favorite songs from him yet -- thank you!!
Aghh!! Finally! Someone who loves the song other than me! 😂😂
You're so welcome!
@@karasuhana i love it too
(this is a little late, but i just thought of this so likE-)
i think that when the nurse says that the infirmary isn't a place to skip class is when the girl who has the addiction sneaks into the infirmary during class to use the drugs in there and the nurse catches her, and maybe that's where she gets taken to a doctor to try and fix the addiction.
