- this is everything we know about the Taylor Swift re-recordings, or at least everything i was able to figure out lol.
we all know that taylor is in the middle of a huge project of re-recording and releasing her first 6 albums due to the fact that she was not given the chance to own or buy her masters. this process that is one that has been messy and filled with drama from her old record label and from people who are just bullies.
i really wanted to create a video going into more detail about the timeline of everything that has taken place and talk about why taylor is going out of her way to re-record over 100 songs, how she is able to go through this process legally and what are some of the things that are setting her back.
i’ll be going into detail about the difference between a master license and a sync/publishing license and how taylor has been using that to her advantage over the past couple years. i just also wanted to bring light to this because what taylor swift is doing is changing the music industry and proving that “you deserve to own the art you make.

I think the order for her re recording releases will be Fearless, Red, Speak Now, 1989, Karma (if it exists I think she will release it), Reputation, and she'll end with Debut. I think it'll take a few years probably will end in 2024 maybe 2025, but she'll obviously release "Midnights" next but I think there will be a brand new album again before the re recordings is essentially over. Super excited for the next few years. (:

Loved this! I totally agree that I think Taylor’s being held up on 1989 because of that lawsuit. Because it’s made so much sense that the timing is ripe for her to release it. The hype was up and up and up and now it’s starting to wane just slightly and I think it is because of something outside of her control (aka that stupid lawsuit). Can’t wait to see your part two! 1989 is my album so I’m hoping it’s definitely her next one to be released! Thanks for sharing all this with us! I love how it really just felt like a conversation. I’ve watched other people do this and it was like a presentation almost. With you it’s friends chatting about what we love and I just love that. You rock, Nena!

Anxiously waiting :) Taylor is such a genius, and that comes with a price for her. Even though many obstacles are thrown at her, she has such a talent, and a pure fantastic will of touching people with her art, that every hindrance becomes a tool for her. I have no perspective of how much bigger would she be, if society wasn't that misogynist and stupid.

Edit: I became a swiftie in October 2021. I have listened to all of rep, 9 songs from 1989, 5 songs from Speak Now, and none of debut. I can't believe that I'm keeping myself from listening to any more songs just to get a first reaction when the Taylor's Versions come out. I REALLY REALLY want to hear all of Speak Now and 1989 ASAP, and everything going on with the original albums are making things a bit difficult for me right now! 😂
Edit 2: Yesterday I gave in. I listened to the rest of 1989, Speak Now and debut! I'm so glad I did! It's so refreshing to hear Taylor Swift songs for the first time, and after I had started I noticed that there really never was a reason to keep waiting. Also, I didn't notice until a few minutes ago that the Shake It Off lawsuit has been dropped!!! Finally! 😁

Hey nena! I would love for your opinion of the 11/11 theory going on. If you don’t know what it is - it’s this theory that the November 11 (which is a day after rep was released, meaning rep would now be 5 years old and so she’d be able to re record it) could be a double drop day bc people believe the shake it off trial might be off around this time and bc rep could now be re recorded, they think it could be a double drop day. There’s also MANY MANY HINTS and so basically it’s like may 13 double drop, but now it’s November 11 (this is also a day before red tv was released as you know).

as much as i would loveeee rep to come out this year i don’t think it’s possible because should can’t legally start re-recording it until november, but i definitely think she’ll release something in the second half of this year 🤗

In my opinion: the Easter eggs indicate that 1989 TV is probably next. However I selfishly hope its Speak Now because Speak Now. I love speak now
Idk but i think rep might be next and look ik that she cant do it until Novembermber but, so far she has done every other album. Plus she might not be able to release 1989 (tv) because of the stupid lawsuit in august about shake it off. But rep is my fav so maybe its just wishful thinking (bad back to December pun lol). I honestly think that 1989 was always in the cards to be next but the lawsuit set it back and she has her heart set in that one being next so she’s waiting to see if she has to re-record the re-recording of Shake It Off and change lines or drop it from the album completely (hopefully not) if she doesn’t win which I believe she will. I also believe that maybe she’s tricking us with 1989 when it’s really Speak Now or Karma. Also maybe she’s waiting to realize those to let those albums get a chance to shine before re-releasing 1989 so those albums don’t get overlooked. I’m probably overthinking a little bit but it’s interesting and exhilarating to theorize what’s coming next.

by the time taylor was 17 she alone was the source of 80% of BMR's income, which is wild.... and shows how utterly unconscionable and duplicitous it was for Borccheta etc to backstab her like that, selling to the one place she begged to not be sold to. Also how despicable, knowing she both wanted to own her own masters *and absolutely had the means to purchase them,* yet was denied ethical terms. And, speaking of ethics... was and how was a literal 15 year old CHILD held to such a predatory contract? I know that no one could've exactly predicted how wildly successful she was going to be, but record producers sign all contracts with the hope they go popular, which makes it even more creepy that he knew how much he would (and how comparatively little Taylor would) benefit from said contract. Disgusting! I'm so glad she is big enough a star to free herself and rerecord successfully!!!

Yeah, I think your friend is wrong. Alphabetical order would be such an arbitrary decision for someone who plans as much and puts little meanings behind everything she does such as Taylor. Besides, usually numbers are listed before letters, so 1989 would be the first record rereleased. And if we consider the word nineteen eighty nine instead, that would put it right after Fearless. Finally, if we put 1989 as the last one in the alphabetical order, that would mean Reputation is next (fearless, red, reputation, speak now, taylor swift, 1989). And I doubt she's gonna make us wait at least until the first trimester of 2023 to release the next TV record. Besides, 1989 is her most popular record (i.e. why two songs from it have been released already, it's a very big demand, not only from the fans but also from the entertainment industry). She needs to take that record away from Scooby Snack ASAP! Hahaha

She is a genius for how she is playing the music industry. August 23, 2019 we got lover. And then we got folklore and evermore. So while she is rerecording everything and we arent playing the old albums because of scooby and we wont be playing them anymore unless we've already purchased them in physical media. Taylor gets to work on her rerecordings and and we dont even miss the old ones because we have new music till she can give is back all of girlhoods by re releasing all of our favorite oldies from our teen years, i cant wait till july 7. the only thing i didnt like about this re recordings thing was right at the beginning when she tried to manipulate her fans into being on her side with that whole scooter braun thing. when she posted those three things that he did to bully her, but literally no evidence or even remote insinuation that he was actually involved in those events. i mean on the other hand he wouldve known that she probably didnt like him. but then again everyone has some connection positive and negative to everyone in the entertainment industry. i feel like bcos this happened in 2019 and nobody wanted to be accused of bullying a woman and also because no random people are going to be sticking up for the big record label, and also bcos in wider pop culture people dont really care about taylor swift (compared to someone like kanye and that whole 2016 thing), nobody bothered pointing that out. but then again i guess it was necessary for her career i mean public support is a fragile thing its always important to build a narrative so i dont know. even with that claim that she wasnt allowed to sing her songs. they even came out and said that would be impossible to enforce and was just untrue. which it must be untrue because people sing covers all the time and like you said she had the publishing rights anyway and she sung them in the end so, im guessing that 'please let them know how you think' line was just more for support than anything. and actually another thing i dont really like is how the production of the re recorded albums is identical to the original ones but she literally stolen producers credits from the smaller named producers that she could get away with it from (so not max martin for example). im actually really surprised she hasnt been sued for that. it reminds me of when she took sole credit for that zayn malik song for the awards. even when scooter didnt want to sell the masters to her, why would he without getting her to stop saying awful things about him publicly, then again why didnt he negotiate first and just add that as a term. then again he mightve not been thinking straight and maybe didnt want to negotiate with her- but for 300 million dollar deals that lack of foresight seems unlikely. even that letter she posted after the second sale had the caption 'i am always upfront and honest with you (the fans)' but then she actually had a reason to dislike scooter and it was clearly trying to brush over the fact with her fans that she didnt really have any evidence of disliking him before. you can hear the desperation to not lose support from her fanbase. overall theyre both clearly telling porky pies but he is obviously an awful person whereas shes just twisting a few facts to fit her narrative.
🤔 🤔 would she wait as long as 2026 to release her debut album TV? Then it’s a 20yr anniversary album ?
Taylor isn’t the first artist to want ownership of her masters. Prince was one of the first to bring this important topic to light. Give credit where it’s due

For what it's worth, my thoughts are that she'll not re-record her debut album. For one thing her voice has matured so much from 17 to 32+ and I don't believe that the technology exists to autotune her voice back to her 16 year old teenage voice. I think that by the time she will have re-recorded and released albums 2 through 6, Shamrock's investment will have dropped so much she'll be able to re-acquire her old masters for pennies on the dollar.
Maybe. She doesn’t strike me as a woman who would go back on her word, and not release Debut (TV), even if just for her fans. She performed debut songs during RST, and then at the same time, has shown that she has the ability to still sing in a way that honors her former/original versions. There are a lot of fans looking forward to a Taylor’s Version of Debut, and vault tracks. I don’t see her losing anything by releasing her version, and I think it…would be too much fun for her to not do, if that makes sense? Hell…It’s probably already done for the most part 😹💚

Correction at 3:32: It was June 30, 2019, that Scott Borchetta sold Big Machine to Scooter Braun. Kelly Clarkson actually gave Taylor the idea to re-record her old albums, complete with songs that she wrote in the process of each album, but didn't make the final cut.
You need to slow down and and take a breath. It is hard to understand you when when you just keep on talking for so long. I know that you love Taylor Swift.
but to not slow down and breath is not a good video. Take a class in public speaking. Do something so others can understand you. Write it out ahead of time. I was a teacher for 9 years.
