Ren created his #1 album as an independent artist, but then made it for sale in many different formats including download for $4.99 the lowest price possible to be still counted for charts. Wanted it to be available to everyone. His Renegades bought copies and gifted them to those still too broke. We short circuited the money game!❤

The Guitar solo is heavily inspired by Django Reinhardt's "Minor Swing", so your 1920s French Jazz note is right on.

Yeah in the UK especially the big cities there’s a massive Caribbean influence stemming from the Windrush generation coming over after the war, a lot of UK rappers especially from London use patois and slang mainly from Jamaica, reggae and ska have been part of UK music for decades

Welcome back! Just starting to watch, but to answer your question the King Dotta diss is worth watching. I'm sure other people will give you more of a rundown of how it all went down, but Ren and Dotta agreed to the diss. And yeah, Ren managed to do a great diss track and remain very true to himself. It's really cool.

@@liquorandwhoas Again, people will have a lot more to say about him than I'll get into here, but he's just a dude, making music, dissing folks. Looking at the exchange as part of the hip-hop culture is a great way to go into it. Ren agreed to it, I'm pretty sure to just show he could do it, and he managed to incorporate his culture as well.
If you don't watch Dotta's first Dotta will be in your comments asking why you didn't. Heh.

My dad used to say "How are you gonna score if you don't shoot?!" and I guess he's right. Life is too short to spend half of it (the working days) unhappy and miserable. So I'd say: GO FOR IT, man. And if it fails: at least you won't have to always ask yourself "what if?".

Found some study a while ago which claimed people should go for a different profession every 10 yrs or so, to give ourselves the opportunity to explore our potential in at least 3 areas we find interesting, because boxing ourselves into doing just one thing ends up sucking the life out of us. And also... I find it a lot easier the second time, less stressful and easier to link new things with what i already know. And it lifted my spirit also, to be doing something new.

Instead of the traditional, "I'm better than that," or "I wouldn't ever get hurt,"-she presents an authentic path, "I f**ked up, I got hurt, I learned from it."

I can feel your excitement/enthusiasm towards your new adventures coming through. I am experiencing a similar reboot along with a lifelong friend. At 57, we're both being molded into this new life due to health issues and a vehicle accident. What could have been the beginning of a downward spiral brought us closer and became a newfound freedom rather than a disability. I know I mentioned this in your last posts comments, but it's so good to have you back. I've missed the banter and bonding over the love of good music and the intelligence that you tackle it with. Looking forward to your next drop AND that day in the future when we have that "cola" face to face. 🍻🤘🤙✌️

Sooo good to see your face pop up in my feed again! I'm mad TH-cam didn't let me know you did Money Game 3 yesterday, but I'm going to go watch that one next. Looking forward to watching you catch up on all the juicy Ren content that's come out since Murderer. The King Dotta diss is good fun, I would make sure to give a cursory listen to Dotta's original diss (Kingdom Come) beforehand because Ren's response uses references from it. Some other extra content that would be fun to check out other than the songs off the album would be his video called 'Eden' (not really a song, but good thought provoking content. It was the finale of a 2 week long AR game he put on for the release of the album), his One Million Subscribers video, and 'Ren - Spontaneous Stream Jam' uploaded by Hexenkind1. Also, Harry Mack did a tribute to Ren you should definitely check out. Ren reacted to it on his alternate channel 'RenMakesStuff'.
I knew you'd love this track, it's one of my favorites of his recent content. That's LA in the background, and I believe the audio was a one take with some spliced in B Roll footage from after the shoot once it was dark. As always really enjoyed the gems you dropped about music production and history along the way.
Congrats on going back to school, that's exciting and you seem happier! Ironically I'm at a similar spot in my life, I'm preparing to leave my career as a designer and go back to school to be a therapist for many of the same reasons you gave. Money Game 3 really gave me a push in that direction, actually. The grind of corporate greed is exhausting and soul sucking to be a part of day in and day out. It's exciting to have a new direction in life!

Great job brother. Caught the Dre beat immediately! Very few catch it at all much less so quickly. Btw, as far as for that "mistake or self congratulations"? during that solo, you said it reminded you of the roaring 20's to 40's music, or cabaret. I found it very reminiscent of the the playing style of possibly the greatest guitarist of all time Django Reinhardt, who in a line in "The Hunger" he calls out and who was such a huge star in Paris during those same years. Once again, great to have you back. Big ups from Humboldt County
