@@volaband If you see this, please make a detailed video about the writing process/inspiration for this album, in detail. This album especially is a true one of a kind. Each song especially the title track is so intensely beautiful.. Inmazes is my desert Island album (maybe along with Strange Trails by Lord Huron😅). Thanks for writing it.
This is one of their softer songs. They do have much heavier ones but they always maintain a melodic edge. Starburn, Your Mind Is A Helpless Dreamer and Smartfriend are all good examples of this.
This is the albums final song, ending on a more chill note. Majority of the rest of the album has a lot more agression, which might just actually meet your expectations. Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, VOLA mess with the time and have heavy riffs like Meshuggah, an obvious influence. But also they mix in melodic ideas from 70's and 80's bands and I think the mix is brilliant. Inmazes might be my favorite album of all time. I really think you'd enjoy it.
Inmazes is a masterpiece. I still remember the first time I heard Owls and how I wasn’t initially a huge fan of the vocals. But I warmed up to them pretty damn quick...
For Vola my favorite song will most likely be "Enter". I loved that song even before the Inmazes album was released. For recommandations i will keep asking for "the ocean". Good songs to start with would be "Firmament", "Devonian: Nascent", "Permian: The Great Dying" or "Cambrian II: Eternal Recurrence". And for the chance of pushing another good song with a very chaotic style I also name the specific song "Den helige Anden" by "Vildhjarta".
Plz check out a song from their ep its called "Like a Rainbow" its sooooo emotional and melodic. Some uneven bars giving so strong drops into chorus which really hits the spot. The harmonies and string melodies are damnn hot!
The drum beat and the odd organ beat can be played together if you say: nice cup of tea, and pat right hand on nice, cup and tea. and left on nice and of. right is your drum beat and left's organ. just a fun playing along thing.
I love VOLA, I actually liked their newest album the most but Inmazes is great as well. So this might not gain too much steam, but you should react to a band called Seven Impale, and their song City of the Sun. I think the fact that you're a composer, you'd really appreciate it. Btw, what type of stuff do you compose?
Love love love this song. Their new 3 available songs “head Mounted Sideways” “Straight Lines” and “24 Light Years” are faaar better than anything off their second album. Please please please react to Head Mounted Sideways. It’s much different than this song.
You should really give the band Neurosis a shot! I don't know of any prominent reaction channels that have done them yet, and I'd be interested in hearing your take. This band has become my favorite for over a decade now, since I heard them! Listen to the songs "Sovereign," "Seasons In The Sky," or "No River To Take Me Home" if you want.
Hey Brian! Just wanted to say how this channel is completely underrated. We need more thorough reviews like these. Anw, how about reviewing new songs from previous bands you've already checked out? Was thinking you'd do Gojira, TesseracT, or Babymetal again.
Thanks so much for the support! As for bringing some bands back on the channel, I need to get around to this. I'm trying to find a nice balance between revisiting bands and getting through the hundreds of new ones that have been requested. I have been pushing new stuff out lately though so maybe next week I'll pick 5 bands to give another listen to.
Awesome! Cool to see some Vola on this channel! Love their ability to create great songs and still mess with time in interesting ways. First album is a bit more “heavy” while their second, is a bit more atmospheric/“dreamy”. This is the song I’d recommend off this album. My favorite off of Applause of a Distant Cloud is Alien Shivers, smartfriend or Ruby Pool! Thanks for the review! Peace ✌🏽
Come give the band Native Construct a shot! Most popular song is "Mute" but I would recommend listening their album in a full playthrough, like any other concept album should be listened to.
Some of the other material from the same album is definitely heavier. Anyway my recommendation would be to check out a song called Son of a Serpent by Thank You Scientist.
Dude you literally staring talking at the best point of the song; where the entire song works to build you up, where the band wants to take you. You missed it, At around minute 6:08. I listen to this song sometimes just to wait for that moment in the song.
I think they're like Opeth meets ASIA but as it looks like you haven't followed up, my fave so far is Alien Shivers Live th-cam.com/video/7PBvnQFCJdw/w-d-xo.html although this song is surprisingly jazz fusion like. Love it.
I think you should react to this one, Converge th-cam.com/video/38m1NXeQP4E/w-d-xo.html A seminar on this record was held in Berkley. It is a true masterpiece
I think this is one of their more chill songs - they do have heavier songs, but they always seem to have have this really neat juxtaposition of the really heavy, low chugging guitar sounds with beautiful vocal harmonies and atmospheric keys. And I love that kind of thing. There is a very occasional scream/growl for effect (which adds spice) too, which I don't mind.
Thank you for your great thoughts on our song! We feel understood;)
Thank you for making such a great track. I'll definitely be checking out more of your work having been introduced your music. Keep being awesome :)

Hopefully you've done more research since this video. Adam is a percussion genius!!!
@@martyfrancis1011 Felix Ewert was the drummer on Inmazes, Adam joined after the release, as Felix was busy with other projects :)

I love Stray the Skies by VOLA. I really need to listen more of them. Liked both songs I've heard from them now.

I love their melody intertwined with their weird time stuff.

love this band. every song is gold. amazing band

BSoern yes!!! Gotta get some The Ocean on here! I’ll join the cause ;)
Oh ya the ocean is amazing! Those are all good suggestions
Yes to The Ocean, I'd also throw in the Bathyalpelagic series on Pelagial
Permian: The Great Dying gets my vote

Peace ✌🏽
Octatonic diminished scale I believe
Also the bells sound is a glockenspiel, probably on a keyboard so it’s most likely super EQ’d
Awesome thanks for reacting to this!
For a heavier song try "A Stare Without Eyes", that might fit your expectations more or "Stray the Skies"
Come give the band Native Construct a shot! Most popular song is "Mute" but I would recommend listening their album in a full playthrough, like any other concept album should be listened to.
What an album
Intro reminds me of dancers to a discordant system
Karnivool are another great band you should definitely look at. Goliath or New Day are soo good!
Some of the other material from the same album is definitely heavier. Anyway my recommendation would be to check out a song called Son of a Serpent by Thank You Scientist.
Great song

I laughed my ass of at that moment😅 You listened in silence to the whole climax but right at that moment you decided to talk?!?
VOLA is the best bro

the bells sounds like a glock played with soft mallets maybe?
Stray the skies please!!!!
Just relistened to Nüguns by System of A Down - song is awesome, definitely worth a react!
Porter band - Garage
Cool
check out Smartfriend!!!!!!!
They have way heavier songs you need to check out those songs owls & aliens shiver

Technically pretty cool, but I wasn't finding a song to really grab onto.
I just have one question. WHY ARE YOU STILL TRAPPED IN MAZES YOU DESIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGNED???
