Many of these entourage stayed in Malacca accompanied the Imperial Officials & families & they over the centuries had mixed into these unique Malay-Chinese culture & heritage we called Peranakan today in Malaysia & Singapore! Many Peranakan families worked for the government of Malaya back then , hence many of these Peranakan families came from the more educated & higher ranking society until today ... Rice dumplings evolved into many forms over the decades , prefer the vegetarian ones with Yellow Beans , Chestnuts , Mushrooms & some with salted eggs!
