Although I am salty that there are only 2 of these missions in the whole game, with only 15 non-purple comets, plus the fact that this comet type is really situational, it does sort of makes sense.
What doesn't make sense is why, in Super Mario Galaxy 2, there are only 2 double time comets (galaxy 2's equivalent of fast foe comets). That just makes objects in levels move quicker, and could be used in many more levels. In addition, there were 37 comets to chose from this time around (not excluding purple comets this time as not every large galaxy had them this time around). There is absolutely no excuse why there were not more than 2. Galaxies like haunty halls, clockwork ruin, flipsville and throwback could all have had ones that made sense.
