FYI, the portrayal of the Rock Creek Station incident, given by the state and in the museum on site, do not agree with contemporay accounts. Possibly due to time contraints, no mention is made of the frequent confederate agitation from the McCanles brothers, which had allegedly made the occupants of the station fearful of McCanles, being so close to the prior terrorism in Bloody Kansas and the recent secession of some of the southern states. Also, Samuel Clemmons wrote about RC Station through which he passed on his trip to California.
