    It's fascinating geopolitically. I think Tom is dog whistling for India to keep buying Russian oil...at a discount. Because Russia will be selling their oil...at a discount. Rather than full market price.

      Ok listen. India has its set of priorities. Same with USA, Russia, China, oh and by the way Ukraine. Need further explanation?

      Friedman has always been a delusional asshole. But he supports establishment thinking in pseudointellectual spin.
      He is just terrible.

    Friedman has no response to most questions. If he is thinks India is not central to the issue than why is he concerned about India from abstaining.

      I think he's ok with India buying Russian oil at a discount. Most countries aren't buying Russian oil any more, and the ones that are are demanding a discount, further eroding Russia's profit margin

    Thomas Friedman is a colorful guy. He knows his geopolitics. Pretty sure he's okay with India buying Russian oil at a discount because if they were to stop it would put an even tighter squeeze on the world's oil supply. It's a fascinating geopolitical game

    Okay, I am defecting from my comments: You deserve compliments because you were balanced and not hyper compared to your colleagues on Republic TV. Trust me, they do a horrific job on Indian journalism. Please keep your poise and you will go far., My blessings from a senior citizen in the USA.

    Thomas Friedman did a good job of reflecting the West's view of India's Russia position. We understand India's position on Russia but your stature as an ally is diminished in our eyes. QUAD is nice but we don't really expect anything concrete or dependable from New Delhi going forward. Luckily South Korea will be joining us soon. It will be QUAD-plus and India will be the "plus."

    • @markpatel
      @markpatel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Things are more complex than this, India doesn't become a "plus" just because India abstained from voting against Russia. US wants India to take moral stance, India cannot because it destabilize Indian's military and imagine China sitting at India's order. Americans would love that, since it would provide Americans opportunitity to sell new ammunitions to India. PM Modi has done a great job here. India is not going to be a puppet, throw India a good deal and we can talk about taking a "moral stance". I remember from few weeks ago, Bush regretting invading Afghanistan. What's Friedman's moral stance on that, and what is he doing now so that America doesn't do such an act again?
