I've lived in Q for 20 years and believe me snakes come out in the winter but it is true it's rare. I came close to getting bit by a sidewinder under my truck in Jan.. because of the temp. he wasn't moving fast and I didnt get bit even though I was a couple of feet away on my knees. If you want to gain knowledge on the desert ask a ranger not a winter visiter who only visits a couple of weeks out of a year, it could save your life.

I recently found your channel and have watched about a dozen. I think you choose good topics, speak coherently on the matters. My view is you spend WAY to much time looking into the camera and talking. In this video you talked about the palms, but took along time to show us "The palms". Watch other popular channels and see how the video focuses on scenery, views, and scenes much less than talking heads. Less Hosts, more pretty pictures is my opinion.

The desert is beautiful especially when the cactus start to bloom. We wintered in Apache Junction for years and a couple of years ago we got lots of rain that winter and the desert was in full bloom by the end of march and begining og April. As for snakes my husband saw one while they were golfing The people from AJ just told us not to go sticking our hands under rocks or logs. And begining of March when it starts to get hot out they put out signs telling you to just be cautious. Thanks for sharing your great adventure. God Bless

I've lived in Arizona for over 40 years and have only seen a few rattlesnakes out in the desert. That is until I started working at the nuclear power plant which is west of Phoenix. During the summer I would estimate that we catch and relocate about 5-7 rattlesnakes per week onsite. We get all kinds of wildlife out here from snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, deer, racoon, fox, coyotes, bobcats, bats, turkey vultures, hawks, eagles, mountain lions and badgers. It's like a zoo out here. Haha!

The desert is great to visit during the cooler months. I like 🐍norm. As long as your not trying to bug them they don't care if your around.

Loved your retro opening 😀 I love how you find the positive in the desert. I admit that I have some of those preconceived notions! It is a different kind of beautiful. I agree Kim. It seems like a very peaceful place.
I appreciate the time and thought you put into your videos! Thank you. Safe travels!

Love Arizona in the winter. We have a little place down there for retirement in a couple years. Then we will RV it during the hot 🔥 summer.

It was great meeting you both around the camp fire at the Grand Design get together. I was to the east with the two travel trailers and the alien homing beacon light. .
I think you nailed it on debunking the myths about the desert. You are right that it's extremely unlikely to come across snakes in January. There are a good number once the weather warms up. I had a diamondback and a sidewinder in my camp late last spring here in Quartzite. I'm still here this year in the BLM and no snakes so far, just one huge scorpion outside. Just be snake aware and never step or put a hand where you cannot see. I'm with Norm on snakes. I do not go out of my way to find them!
Glad you showed the labyrinth. That reminded me of some unusual rock formations west of town that I want to see. Like you said, there's always something to do!
I'm looking forward to viewing your future adventures.

Great video! I noticed since you have a long bed truck you have gone to the goosebox. Did the Anderson hitch fall out of favor? How do you like the goosebox?

I Loved the Anderson but switched so I wouldn't have anything but the ball in the bed of the truck.

Geocaching for rattlesnakes in the desert, yipes. I’m going to subscribe and maybe one day we’ll meet up. I’m the dump it type because it could have something that bites in it.

We never even saw one. I’ve heard that it’s a good idea to leave the hood of your truck up otherwise they like the safety of that space and build nests. We did not experience that.
