I lived in chorley as a child and am so relieved to know that there was indeed a statue high up on the building on the corner. I remember that i used to stare at it when my mum would stop to chat on a busy Tuesday, market day. I went back a few years ago and seeing no such statue I thought I must have imagined it. Now I know I am right, thank you.

That statue is now in the walled garden in Astley Park.

Thank you for your interest. I have updated this video as I did not make clear the building date of the chapel. The update has not been uploaded yet. It was built in 1792

Thanks for this. You make some interesting points of history that bear relation to my ancestors. John Ainsworth was my Great Great Grandfather and ran a drapery store in Pall Mall from the late 1800s. He also married his first wife at St.George's church, Sarah Whittaker from Livesey St.(now demolished), both addresses being located either side of Chapel Street.
John was latterly a Chorley councillor and I'd like to bet he has some history in this area with e.g. the weaver's association, etc.
I'm a member of the facebook group, "Chorley Then And Now" and will certainly look out for your publications and media concerning the town

As a native Chorlean I find all history about the town very interesting.
Like many others I too thought the street was named after the Baptist Chapel.
One point I would like to make is that the Interchange was opened on 23rd March 2003, not 2004 as you stated in your narration. I think you may have got your information from the plaque on the wall behind the supervisors desk. This refers to the design award which the building received in 2004.
Keep up the good work and let's have more videos about the town.

Thanks John for your interest and comment.
I have now a dedicated TH-cam Channel for Chorley called RoundAboutChorley. I have made videos about Park Road, Fellery Street and Holinshead Street. Without people like your self most of this history would be lost.
