- The Nobel Peace Prize has been given to one individual and two organisations.
Ales Bialiatski - a human rights advocate from Belarus - takes the award along with Russian human rights organisation Memorial and the Ukrainian human rights organisation the Center for Civil Liberties.
The winners were announced by Norwegian Nobel Committee Chair Berit Reiss-Andersen from the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo.
The winners "demonstrate the significance of civil society for peace and democracy", the chair said.

This prize has devalue so much that is just a show like the Oscars giving prizes not people who deserve it but allies to out pressure on enemies. To be honest, sure, each of those winners are worthy of the prize, but as a Ukrainian I cannot but notice (and be tired of) this triunite shit all over, I would be fine with Ales Bialiatski winning it, Memorial (weird but okay), or Center for Civil Liberties, not to mention a huge number of people organizations from around the world... But just not 3 together. Maybe someone, who doesn't know much about Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, will think that it's a nice gesture of showcasing support for each party, but it's everything but at this point.

Not one. Not being in NATO, Ukraine doesn't benefit from the protection it offers. My belief is that Russia should be confronted by troops from Western European powers. For far too long it's got away with bullying Eastern Europe, yet Russia is weak militarily. It's all bluster and bull. Why else would it mention using nukes against a small country like Ukraine?
It all depends whether Western Europeans would see the freedom of Ukraine as being worth the lives of its people in a conflict which may well draw in even more countries to fight on one side or another.

They have choosen completely wrong time to make the belarus and russia the winners of the prize. The time, when russia is burning out to ground the Ukrainian cities and belarus allow for russian rockets to be launched from its territory. It is hard to imagine the logic of such choise.
all these laureates fight for human rights and for humans. not for the regimes. memorial raises awareness about soviet repressions, including repressed ukranians, belorussians, russians and many other nationalities. they all talk openly about the putin's regime's crimes and take measures to stop torture and russian culture of violence, which has led to war in ukranian. i'm totally for ukrain and i think that the western countries should send more troops, tanks and weaponry. but i see these winners as the representors of non-violence, virtue and peace principles, definetelly not as the representors of agressors
but i do understand your view of this situation, and i respect it too. the nobel peace committee’s decision is still a statement for the majority, the statement that they are not fully enabled to make. unless ukrainians agree with it (but most of them don't, and this should have been taken into account)
