    Thanks Christina. I like these videos almost as much as your card making because it helps me stay informed of all the new products. I love your handwriting.

    Kristina I've had this watercolor set for a while and I love it when its dry you get the same effect as the more expensive Twinkling H2o's. I use it over other watercolors because it is so transparent but I love the shimmer I get with them. I hope you too will enjoy using it. Thanks for sharing all these goodies with us.

    The Flair pens gave me a chuckle. They were all the rage when I was in high school in the late 70's, before the huge selection of markers/pens available now. I also remember using fountain pens in grade school before ballpoint pens became so common.

    I am a pen addict! I do like them all but those Preppy Pens, the fine tip, did it for me, and I love your hand writing in this demo! Very nice. Those "at you Spica" pens are very nice too. I am still using my Mums and she has been gone now 9 years. I don't use it often, I just like to save it, but it still writes!!!! Good quality pen.
    Thanks for sharing

    I have some of the Frixion highlighters. They're great. My 9 year old is fascinated by them. She loves office supplies as much as me and she's ALWAYS swiping my pens! I also have that watercolor set. I can't remember if I ever tried it out on dark paper, but I love anything with shimmer. Those fountain pens look like a lot of fun! TFS, Heather

    Kristina, I just love all the cool stuff you can get from Jet Pens, and I love that shipping is free over $25!! My favorite is the fountain pen. I'm considering trying one. I love the color of the red/pink!!

    Kristina, my favorite thing was the black paper mate because I like black black. I would have liked to have seen something in blue though. I survived (thrived in actually) Catholic school, and I still imagine nuns rolling over in their graves if I were to write in random colors, and law school taught me to "endorse" in blue so originals could be recognized! Thanks so much for showing us all the comparisons! If I were to choose, I'd choose purple though! :) And I was so thrilled to see a picture of you with my newest idol -- OrganizedJen! I love her Organization blogs and videos and I think she is the sweetest young thing ever! I hope you encourage her to keep going with her blogs, she gets some horrible personal attacks and I think she's wonderful and creative and caring and has brilliant ideas and at 58 I'm learning from her and I think she has a great deal to give to the world and I've told her so -- please let her know I've shared that with you as well! XOXO, Queen Mary

    They've had both kinds of bottles of the Copic whites for a long while - I don't like the brush, it's way too tiny for me to use, and the bristles are so long - I can't seem to control it. LOL. So I use a regular brush with it. :)

    I have a set of pearlescent water colors and I love the subtle shine. It looks great as a background color, like a sky. Beautiful! My set was inexpensive, too, but didn't require as much water, I think. But I have found uses for this shiny set.

    The Frixion pens are a favorite with quilters because we can mark our stitching lines and then just hit it with an iron and the ink disappears.

    I got the Preppy Pen in purple. Really lovin it! I used to write with one all the time in high school with a turquoise cartridge. I opted out of the Frixions because of the ink disappearing in the heat....not terribly compatible for the south. Thanks for the reviews!

    I started cardmaking a few years ago. One of my first purchases was an Atyou Spica pen. Each visit to the card shop had me purchase another one. They are inexpensive and I had no issue with dryness. I only used them to sparkle up my prismacolour pencil colouring. This was well before wink of Stella or glossy accents. I still use them.

    I have been looking for a great pen/pencil bag for on the go art journaling, something long enough to hold my watercolor palette - yours looks like it might be! I really liked it except the watercolors - they can't compare to the H2O's. Black, blue and red Flairs were all they had and were my favorite when I was young, I am happy to see them back in all the colors -treating mysef to the 16 color pack next pay day!!

    I like the Platinum Preppy Pens. I am learning how to write in calligraphy, I didn't want expensive pens to learn. I also use the Paper Mate Color pens on my large wall calendar. I use 4 colors (a color is for each family member) the rest of the colors are for other reminders. I personally like the Wink of Stella Glitter Pens, both the brush and felt tip type. I may have to give those pearl paint pots a try... Thank you for doing this video.

    HI! 2 things:
    1) I love the fountain pens and have to make a note of the name, and
    2) A possible caution regarding the Frixion highlighters. Frixion also make pens where the ink is erasable. My daughter ordered a big set straight from Japan. She said that if you use these pens in hot climates (I live in Florida), the ink can disappear if the writing gets hot. The removal of the ink is by friction (thus the supposed play on words) or heat caused by the rubbing. Just thought I would throw that out there
    Love your tuts.

    • @kwernerdesign
      @kwernerdesign  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Janet Nelson Yes, heat does make it disappear, but you can put your notebook in the freezer and it all comes back! I haven't tried this myself, but other online say it works. :)

    The Spica look interesting, I like fountain type pens. Also the copic white looks cool. I really like buying different kinds of pens. As a teacher, I often do not have to buy them as my students just leave them lying around. I put them all in a box and the class and I can share and if they can recognize theirs then they can have it back. It's a shame, not many ask for them back. I never take my favorites to school.

  • @1974KAAR
    @1974KAAR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is the heat from erasing that causes the ink to disappear. Same with the ballpoint test your surfaces first but if need to draw lines first these should disappear with your heat gun. That way instead of traditionally erasing and taking the risks of marks on your page you could just add the heat with no friction. Might even work under your watercolours. Love your channel thanks for all your help and ideas. Xoxo.

    Interesting! I really enjoy Flair pens for doodling. You can get fun effects if you drag color from your lines with a water brush.I didn't read the comments so maybe this was already suggested.... the watercolors you tried usually show up better on black or a dark colored paper. That's my experience with a similar set.

    Will definitely try the fountain pens! I have only one Spica pen, a giveaway from a Copic class I took. I love it, but they're too pricey. My Sakura Stardust are just as good and cost less. Be aware that Spica pens should be stored on their side, unlike other Copic products. I love that you love pens, too! I often thought I was the only one in the world that obsessed over pens, lol.

  • @tonyagraham675
    @tonyagraham675 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    My favorite item from your haul is the fountain type preppy pen. They appear to write very well and smooth.
    Also, the Spica pens are one of my go to crafty items. They are a great alternative to the wink of stella pens. The wink of stella brush has a larger surface area...but the Spicas with the fine point are great for Copic colored images for highlights and that touch of sparkle. I am sorry to see that you were not very impressed by them. They are typically quite 'sparkly'...but just like the Copic markers, the size of the pigment particles of the darker colors does affect the glimmer/shine of the pen itself. The shine is actually small glass pieces (from what I understand) and with larger pigment particles, it could block the flow of the glass pieces a bit. They HAVE to be stored on their side due to the nature of the glass and clogging the end.
    And Thank you for sharing your haul! :-)

    About the Copic Spicas - they need to be stored horizontally, otherwise gravity takes hold and it's difficult to redistribute the glitter. Maybe they were stored improperly before you got them? Great vid, btw! Always enjoy them.

  • @catherineflusche8935
    @catherineflusche8935 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use platinum preppy as my main writer. They're super cheap ($4) and I don't really worry about mixing inks in it. I have only "broken" one and that was because the cap was no longer sitting tightly.
    I had a medium point that I loved (the one that broke) and I decided to try the fine point. The fine point works great with the cartridge that comes with it, but didn't lay down enough ink for my liking with my "fancy" ink samples. It also clogged really easily (only with the samples, NOT with the cartridge) and was just annoying to use. So, I ordered another medium point (which works like a dream) and have used the cartridges in the fine point just to use up the ink (I can refill the cartridges with my ink samples when I'm not in the mood to wait for the barrel to dry after being an eyedropper pen).
    So I highly recommend the medium point; the fine point not so much.

    I am getting the watercolor set. Not everyone wants their paintings to shine to the gods. Adding a slight luminescence to an existing hue is much more attractive to me, a little glow to certain elements. It's all to do with what you want. I was going to get Winsor and Newton Iridescence medium, but this gives a lot of options for a lower cost and is more portable, and will show me if I am interested if I am interested in investing in Finetek Thanks for sharing.
