      The batukadas, the rolling actions, and all of the travel movements - especially the helicopter pivots, CPP/PP runs, Promenade Spins and Zig Zag, Same Foot Reverse Roll, Cruzados Locks, Traveling Volta Locks, Samba Locks (aka Drop Voltas).....all that! That is what I love about the samba!!!

    what is a legal follow to the nat. pivots? (can't find an answer in the Hearn book) - it seems you end up in contact hold...

      I always love opening back out to a Promenade Run

    • @charlessmith263

      Assuming you are doing the CPP/PP Runs, which takes 6 steps, the best entry to this exciting competitive samba move (natural pivots) would be Steps 1-3 of the CPP/PP run (since the leader will finish with RF free), then 4 Natural Pivots with leader's RF LF RF LF. Finish with steps 4-6 of the CPP/PP run as the best follow. If you want to do the pivots again, do steps 4-6 and then 1-3 of the CPP/PP run, then the pivots. An alternative follow out of the pivots is the Whisk RLR--and you can overturn that RLR Whisk for competitive purposes. Good luck!

      Note: Natural pivots go SSSS, and CPP/PP Runs are SQQSQQ. So control of timing is very important here.

      Hello Cesar! Those are called Developed Whisks which are not the same as Whisks. Slavik is the man! 💥💥

    I love your videos! But damn, with the demonstrations the music in the edit isn’t aligned so it looks like you are not dancing to the beat. Doesn’t take away the value of learning for me though!

    • @BallroomMasteryTV
      @BallroomMasteryTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to have you here! Sorry the videos doesn’t seem to be loading for you properly! I checked the master and the uploaded version and beats, bars and timing all match. Sometimes videos can load audio and video at different rates which can cause that issue though. It’s awesome you’re here and what dance would you like to have next?

    I forsook Ballroom for 3 years of Brazillian dance study through Rio, San Palo and Bahia and I can't even look at Ballroom Samaba anymore. It's so manufactured and forced in its hip action. Ive nearly stopped teaching that as my Brazillian option all together and now teach Brazillian Zouk, Brazillian Bolero, some Samba de gafiera, Lambada and Forrho as a northern option. In my view, Ballroom Samba is just Maxixe and waltz and only useful for competition as it's lost any true representation of its culture of origin.

    • @BallroomMasteryTV
      @BallroomMasteryTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand my wife lived in Brazil for a year and when we visited the entire feel and style is beautiful and so so varied. As anything this is the international style which isn’t supposed to be Brazilian Samba - it’s just influenced off a particular style. Similar to Paso Doble being modeled off a Matador and Bullfight (technically that’s Spanish BUT the French invented the Paso Doble dance hence many of the figure names are in French) and Viennese Waltz being influenced from centuries ago. Did you know the origin of Rumba isn’t Cuba, it came to Cuba from Africa - and what the dance was actually used for…well, you’d be banned if you tried it on a comp floor 😂😂
      All dances have history and the interpretation is what makes Dancing as a genre so interesting and never universally appealing it’s always personally subjective.
      Hopefully there will be dances you enjoy in the Ballroom world but it’s not for everyone in that sense.
