Hello just wanted to say i love these videos so much but i have one question: In this video you dont mention the radial muscles and the circular muscles in the iris, but in the aqa biology paper 2 specimen theres a 4 mark question on the iris where the markscheme states that you must mention that the circular muscles contract and radial muscles relax
Hi and thanks for the comment. The circular and radial muscles are not explicitly mentioned in the spec so I didn't cover them. In the section on accommodation, the ciliary muscles and suspensory ligaments are specifically mentioned. So from that, I assumed that if AQA wanted students to understand the circular and radial muscles, they would have stated that. Hope that's ok.
@@Freesciencelessons hey your legacy of videos are helping people like me many years on after your videos are released. i just want to say keep up the good work on the A-Level series you have. These videos are helping me so much with my mocks next week i just want to thank you. i feel i dont deserve you your videos are helping me figure out hard topic that are complex in revision guides, much easier. your recognizable anywhere i say your channel name. much love im sending prayers to you
paper 1 bio tomorrow, the vibes are stressed but you came through
I love this guy
Do we have to know about circular and radial muscles in the iris? btw your videos are so helpful got me 9s in my last mocks as well as friends that also use your videos, we really do appreciate them. Last year we had a training teacher and barely covered any content from paper 2 but your videos helped massively. Just wanted to say a huge thank you on behalf of my friends and I.
Hi and thanks for the comment. The circular and radial muscles in the iris are not required by the AQA specification.
@@Freesciencelessons It is in the AQA textbook
Funny because this question came up in the Bio Paper 2 exam yesterday it asked about which muscles acted when a person entered a bright room
Thank you, very helpful, concise video!
Thanks teacher your help, this help me in my interview jop in a teacher biology
Omg I couldn't see anything but then I watched this video and I'm cured
Why are you not verifieddddd
look again boi

Eye can’t do this anymore
saviour of my life
Do you need to know about circular and radial muscles or do you just have to refer to them as "specific muscles" in the exam
Hi sir would you be able to make playlists for each aqa section

Thanks dude
I am really confused about the cillary muscles and the auapensory ligament. In the Mark scheme it says reject "relax" and that it should be slacken surely they are the same things
No, relax is what a muscle does. The suspensory ligaments are not a muscle so they cannot relax. They are like a piece of string. So they slacken.
Freesciencelessons Ah I get it thanks for clearing that up!
Never thought I’d be here night before☠️
do we need to be able to label a diagram for the eye and the brain?
you know those random samaritians that randomly save your life, for free, well he is my hero!!
I agree asmagaramasala
thankyou sir your the best
In What order is it ir recommend to learn the eye because different study guides state the structure and function in different orders
About the iris... Do we need to know about Radial muscles and circular muscles??
No that's not on the AQA spec.
They're not on the AQA spec.
eye just don't know🤣🤣 anyways good video thanks
Regarding your example of the dark room - you mention that the electrical impulses are sent to the brain. But then you say its a reflex action that does not involve the conscious part of the brain. How is that possible?
In that example (and also in hearing), the impulses are sent to the brain.
@@Freesciencelessons so it is not a reflex action?
It is because it does not involve the conscious part of the brain.
Thanks for helping me understand this topic sclera
If we walk into a bright room, when the brains send impulses to the specific muscles in the iris, do the muscles contract or relax? Thank You.
There are two types of muscles in the Iris - circular and radial. When impulse is given to radial muscles they contract and pupil dialates(meaning the iris is pulled out to the circumfrence by these muscles. )While when the impulse is given to circular musles they contract and decrease the size of the pupil.
@@RainieCloud in bright light, the radial muscles relax and the circular muscles contract
Any advice? I am revising but nothing is going in? Is it because i stress?
Don't force your self into studying. Only study when you're feeling like it, I know this rarely happens but forcing yourself into studying while you're all stressed out and stuff wouldn't do you any good.

Hi sir I've wanted to ask if i am a higher students do Ihave to watch the videos with the name tripple?
@@Freesciencelessons oh ok thank you I'm new in this country so I was a bit cofused
No only students who are following the Triple pathway need to watch those videos. These are students who are not doing Combined Science. Combined Science students need to watch all the videos that do not have "Triple" in the title.
Do we need to know about the aqueous humour and what it does?
No, it's not required in the AQA spec.
Hi Sir, I was just wondering where the video about the brain went because it seems to be deleted.
I'm going to remake that video in the next day or two.
Ok thank you so much

Is there a video for the brain?
