Excellent as always Mr Boogie. Great to see the train movements at Brighton. Seems like a, very busy place. Well done. 🤓

Enjoyed that ... good vid, thanks. I notice that the crossover exits to the main line could do with some track maintenance (levelling). A tad bouncy in places eh? 😉

Yeah I noticed it was voiding at the toes too needs a bit of lifting and packing could be due to the short possessions they have down on BML.

Didn't see any GWR services they don't run to Brighton anymore!

This was filmed before they officially finished but the reduced timetable in place at the time meant that I didn't get to see one.

I thought the real GWR died in 1947.

Very good video, where is your home station and can you explain the limits of your freedom pass? Thank you.

I have a London Councils Freedom Pass so most of my outings are within that area, however, on some occasions, such as this, I buy an extension ticket. My ticket on this trip was a day return from Coulsdon South to Falmer. With my Freedom Pass this enabled me to travel out from Victoria via Lewes and return via Brighton, with a break of journey permitted at both locations. I didn't even get off at Falmer.

A question my friend. Have the main platforms been cut back in recent years? To my geriatric eye the individual coaches of a 700 seem visibly shorter than Mk 1 EMU stock or even earlier PULs and CORs. But a 12 car train fills the platform very snugly. Concourse extensions at some pint perhaps - probably since 2000? Be interested to know...

Short answer is don't know. Longer answer is that a class 700 carriage is about 20 metres, which is the same as a mark 1 carriage, give or take.

@@BoogiesTrains Thanks for that and yes, it's my judgement that's declining. Mk 1 stock was I think around 63ft over the headstocks which, as you say, would make the coaches very similar in length. It must be the optical illusion of the very different body shape, especially the perceived width and height. The 700s look much bulkier - both wider and higher - than old stock but, as you say, they're as long as they're long! Many thanks for your reply. Oh, and don't you love the privatised railway? Even when two franchises are owned by the same consortium (which I think is still the case), you can't use the same ticket to travel on the two. And no direct Brighton-Victoria services by the franchisee who is supposed to exist primarily to provide that service (ie Southern)? What on earth do the Brighton line commuters think? Or am I missing something?,,,

Ah yes, fond memories of the 6-COR, 6-PAN, 4-BUF and 4-COR not to mention the 5-PUL Brighton Belle units!

Great video but the video isn't shown as public.

Thank you. It isn't public yet but is included in one of my playlists. I was wondering whether that would make it visible. Thank you for confirming that. I have quite a backlog of material to publish before I want to make this one available. If you want to share it with anyone you can probably send a link.

Are Southern not planning ahead to replace the Class 313 or will they eventually start replacing the Class 313 and to order new trains to be used on the East Coastway Line and West Coastway Line services in & out of Brighton.

    • @BoogiesTrains
      @BoogiesTrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I suspect that the lease charges on a 313 are much lower than a 377. In the current financial situation that might mean they will be with us for years, whilst newer stock lies idle as it is too expensive.

What is that annoying tapping all the way through the video I won't recommend your channel because of it and I am unsubscribing

Hi Barry. It's not been mentioned before. I'm away at the moment but I'll look into it when I get back.

It's the brake compressor on a class 313 parked in the depot just beyond the platform. Not a lot I could do about it at the time. Can't imagine any request to move it would have been welcomed.
