Thank you Jim, thank you Mikko, for the chat and for the shout out; I'm glad that I could help to get you together. Other than that lots of interesting informations and insights ... but still a few questions left for next time 😆 There is one thing I never thought about, but when you said you like Chris Cornell, I all of a sudden realized, what you have in common : you both give a 100 % at the microphone ... as I could see at Midsummerprog 🤘 Now I'm looking forward to the new single, my ordered Bluray, the new album and maybe a concert in Germany in 2024 🤘🤘

    Good evening Jim,
I already knew you had this interview from Rudi 😊. Great that he had the right connections to make this possible.
Von Herzen brothers, not my favorite band (yet) but maybe I should hear more by them to change my mind 😅. A bit more metal would certainly help.
I like the Foo fighters even less.
    Riverside, I like very much.

      @@JimNewstead hi Jim,
Heard both the official and the live version. The studio version is good, the live version is less good. The end is very good.
Sorry to say that it’s not enough for me to hear more of them. The music doesn’t give me that special feeling I had with other music/bands.
      Retrospective gave me that feeling.

Yes, Jellyfish - great choice. Wonderful band.
I can resonate with trying to spread the word about these great, under appreciated bands. That's something I've tried to do especially with Moon Safari.

Thanks for this as have been curious to know more about them. I recently discovered this band last year and went down the wormhole. They def deserve to be bigger. Looking forward to the live Album/Blueray.

They like all kinds of good music? But what anout you? If you like good music, you must know Von Hertzen Brothers :-) Peace Patrol, but don't give up, until you heard the whole Song. New Day rising, a Rocker. All of a sudden you're gone might give you wet eyes . So be brave and listen. By the way I prefer Marillion of the Fish-era 😉

@@jmurray2018 thank you Jay, I'm glad you like VHB. They are a great live Band, saw them at Midsummmerprog in NL this year. There is a Video by Jim with 5 Songs, 2 of Midsummerprog with a surprise in the last Song:-) I don't know all Fish solo records, but I love Sunset on Empire - Which color is God any Brother 52 are the best among other good ones. May I ask, where you live?

@@rudolfbecker4313 I’ll try an look up that video normally it’s not cwl to like prog with our generation unless it’s Dream theater and as I’ve been brought up on country and Christian music an hip hop (whack combo I know) I’m not usually into old music until Marillion came on TH-cam. Which I discovered on here. Controversially I don’t like Yes, Rush, Coldplay, David Bowie, Dire Straights and Pink Floyd but I like Marillion - go figure! I’m not sure on Genesis as the only songs by them I’ve heard are covers by “Disturbed” and I really don’t like the 80s sound unless it’s played on grand theft auto vice city. Anyways these brothers have a good buzz about them. Not quite my Osbourne Brothers but they’re awesome and I’m gonna listen to all their music I’m from Nashville TN.

@@jmurray2018 Hi Jay, everytime I start a conversation with others, I realize, that everybody has a different background, different basis of the personal taste, different influences. My musical taste is based on the "holy" trinity of hard rock - Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath -, all introduced to me by my older brother. Pretty soon I discovered bands as UFO, Free, Ten Years After. I'm talking about early 70s ... then my older brother and friends discovered Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Genesis and others. About Genesis I can tell you, they were a great prog band in the 70s, before they turned commercial. Maybe you give just one song a listen, and you will know a lot about them : Firth of Fifth. Of the other bands you listed I like the 70s Pink Floyd, the beginnings of Dire Straits and early 80s Rush. Next discovery was Dream Theater right from the start, but it took until 2000, when I saw them for the first time live, 18 times ever since then and I'm so happy about the return of Mike Portnoy. I love the old music, but I'm very curious about new music, too. Since 2005 I've subscribed to a music magazine with a monthly sampler with new music. Of these samplers I've "composed" a double mixtape with all new bands, which Jim will present in the near future. And I've ordered VHB's Bluray, which will come out next month ... so many things to look forward to ... including the hope to see VHB live in 2024. greetings from Germany Rudi 🤘
