The reason why this song fits with the show Black Mirror because of the what the song is saying. It feels like the song is describing how some of these people are trap in some kind of hell but yet we as audience are still watching these people. " You can blame me, try to shame me and still I'll care for you" like the show is breaking the 4th wall by using the song's words. This is deep and now I became a fan of this show now. I saw a good theory about how they're referencing technology. Whenever you put your phone down you're still surrounded by technology. It was an interesting thought I had to share! But I love your idea too.

I think the use of this song throughout Black Mirror - I think it shows up in some way or another in every episode - is beautiful and brilliant. The lyrics reveal a person who acknowledges both the abuse she receives from the object of her desire and the absurdity in her unwavering commitment to him despite it all, but explains it away as simply as something that love does, and is resigned to continue on. This toxic relationship is a direct parallel to our relationship with technology. In the name of technological "advancement", we allow ever increasing intrusion of our privacy, the distortion of the societal fabric, distortion of our sense of morality, and just about every other consequence of unrestrained indulgence and over-reliance on technology that Black Mirror presents to us. Yet we not only continue to use it, but allow it ever deeper into our lives. Why? It's hard to explain, but anyone who has an iPhone, a smartwatch, or a social media presence will understand...
Brilliant observation. We are all in a toxic relationship with technology. Some say that technology is neither good or bad, but it is now in the hands of the likes of Bill Gates, Anthony Fauci and Klaus Schwab. There is nothing good to come of that.

Thank to Black Mirror series too... Otherwise I wouldn´t be able to here this again... I tought I knew when I heard it on the series but I wasn´t sure, then I started to research the series soundtrack and when I found it, It all came back: My parents had a vinyl with this song and I remember that I use to listen this song sometimes... They can't see you
Like I can
Oh but anyone
Who knows what love is
Will understand
Anyone
Anyone
Anyone
I just feel so sorry (anyone)
For the ones
Who pity me
'Cause they just don't know
(Anyone) Oh they don't what happiness love can be
I know
I know to ever let you go
Oh, it's more than I could ever stand
Oh, but anyone
Who knows what love is
Will understand
Oh (anyone) they'll understand
(Anyone) If they try love, they'll understand
(Anyone) Oh, try to understand
Lol thx
Thanks
i am so appreciative to the people who type out song lyrics. thank you.

ну, как бы наоборот
very good show on Netflix Black Mirror!
What episode?
laurel cook same here 😆
Im a white guy who just discovered Irma. OMG this lady's raw talent has been so sadly overlooked.
Anyone realize how she's talking about an incredibly toxic relationship ??
Any relationship with a Human Being is Toxic in 2019.
Better to identify as a Fish or Bicycle and GTFO.
A.k.a. Most relationships
WOW YOU DON'T SAY?!?!?
No shit
Some of the best music came out of terrible circumstances. The heart wrenching emotion shines through ...
This song is all over black mirror
so strange
Crasher806HD, I love the way it just pops up unexpectedly.
Crasher806HD I think its cause its in the same universe from different times... it makes sense if you research and get obsessed like I did.
Heaven Is A Place On Earth
Gavin Richie yeah. The block people, and the pregnancy tester
they used this song again in the new episodes lol
How she didn't become a bigger star during her run is one of life's great mysteries.
Because she was black.....many songs were stolen and used by others and seems to be more popular and loved once it's from something other than a black woman during segregation.
She’s really big here in New Orleans. Especially for Jazz Fest
This brilliant singer and performer didn't get the recognition she should've gotten, her music hit the top 40 five times soul queen of new orleans
Why the past tense? She's alive.
Wow, amazing song and performance. Black Mirror got me here. Wikipedia says it was co-written by Randy Newman too. I hope Irma is getting royalties from this.
Everyone who've seen Black Mirrot know how this music is special for them

Mon francais est petite mais c'etait tres marrant vous comment :)
This song haunts me but I feel compelled to come back to it.
Black Mirror is still the most depressing show ever
Because it seems so real.
it's our future. dammmmn. this song gets to me.
I like the 15 million merits version better though
If you've never seen, I recommend you watch the episode Auto Erotic Assimilation (S02E03) of Rick and Morty. There's an awesome depressive song. :)
already watched it!
We get it, Black Mirror brought you here.
take the hint and watch it :p
Tammy T. I did
Black Mirror brought me here.
hahahahhah
fuck yaaaaa
Black mirror had this song
TH-cam gave me an inescapable ad before this played. Hmm.
IDK what you're talking about. Just addblock. Thanks to it I avoid every sigle add.
You don't have enough merits to skip. Keep riding the bike.
Search the comments for clues, EFL.
Cpt Planet I've understood the reference. However, it's not adequate to real life yet.
EFL mobile?
Because of One Day - I feel foolish to feel this way about someone but after this song I no longer do. 🖤
A good girl's guide to murder on Netflix brought me here... what a perfect song for such a wonderful scene ❤🥹
Me too! I nearly fell out of bed in my determination to find out about this incredible song. Listening again, I have heard it before but not for donkey's years.
Anyway, regardless of black mirror (it’s one of my fave shows) I’m thankful for this BLACK QUEEN for singing this iconic piece of music
Irma is a beautiful lady with a gorgeous voice.
Never heard of Ms Irma Thomas before tonight and aye, thanks to Black Mirror. ❤️💐

Black Mirror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't think I would have ever herd this tune if it wasn't for Charlie Brooker.
Well...whether it’s black mirror or something else...it has brought a special group of like minds that have deeper feelings inside. Can you imagine if we all got together to reach our higher level of consciousness through this song as our starting point.
@@bigups8103 Kool-Aid of course
I like the way you think rich

I like your thought.. And it is surprising, because this song divides the people around me. The people I like, are the same people who love this song. And the others are not on the same "wave" as me. This song is so deep and i love the feelings it brings with it.
Yess. Like minds Unite!
One Day on Netflix brought me here
You are so right wow great comment Deb
Ditto...anyone! ❤
Ok so we're all here because of Black mirror.... but this song unreal and is addictive. Love it when movies and quality shows brings society back to classics long forgotten. Thank you this is so refreshing!

lacesteampunk ayy Anyone! Anyone!
TatianaTalia Nelson LOL

Black Mirror..made we aware and brought me here..only cost me 300 credits....beautiful song with so much meaning.
Heard this song while watching One Day on Netflix ❤️
I was watching Black Mirror tv show on Netflix and this song was sung. I wanted to know the original singer. The original is amazing, the newer version isn't bad either.
Great nostalgia!
I heard it on another episode of Black Mirror: "Men against fire" and I knew I've heard it before, in the second episode. I guess Black Mirror dèjavu'd me.
Edit: In "crocodile" they use it throughout the whole episode. I guess it's the official song of the series.
Joao Regueira Neto your parents were on black mirror.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard
Black mirror aside, this song just pulls on emotions. I could listen to this all day...
I loved how they utilized it again on the Season 4.

My mother had this 45 and played it a lot... thank you for the beautiful memories. Brings Mom back to me for a minute. I just bought the original version and it came in, #9201 original print, carry over mono. What a great album in total. This woman could sing in a smooth alto voice.
