When Kacee said, “she’s (Powder) going to use them as like bombs,” then Anthony said, “it has more than just boom effects,” around 6:25 - 6:33 I laughed way too hard. The face animation and voice acting for the end scene with Powder, when she realized what she did, was amazing and emotional, this series from animation, direction, story telling, music, soundtrack, voice acting, etc. is outstanding. Even the music video for this series just shows the level of dedication and attention to detail.
i think the entire show from beginning to end is a 10/10, but even if it wasnt, if it was only like a 7/10 prior to that point, that one scene at the end makes the entire show a 10/10. powerful stuff.
I knew it was gonna be good just from the buildup of emotion from vi in the first scene we see her when she notices her parents are dead. We see her try to keep herself composed by breathing in heavily over and over and then eventually giving up
Some of the best facial animations I’ve seen for sure.
The show is an absolute masterpiece
Not just that it symbolizes that when we see jinx now at the age of 23 she and vi are gonna be at each other Throats for the rest of the series much like how Cassandra and Alexios are each other’s throat’s in ax oddesy except that that either protagonist you picked are Possessed by demios
Powder's voice actress is really good, those wails and crying felt way too real and painful, emotionally. That scene will always make me cry. I can't wait for the next episodes tomorrow.
and from what i have heard from multiple sources by now, they recorded most of those lines about 6 years ago, the VA was like 9 years old back then! fucking incredible!

Vi didn't intend to leave powder. She just need space to calm herself down.
She wasn't, she just a teenager. She went away in confusion and fury, as punishment and at such an age who wouldn't. But she went too far away, and left her, a lil kid with no clear thoughts and grieving completely alone. Fucked up ah.
@@OtakuProGamer She does have every right to be mad, though, but she isn't free of consequences, either. But either way, she was right to distance herself, she would only make the situation worse. She was also grieving too, you know, and barely had any time to process everything.
To be fair powder did just murder her father figure and all of her friends. I'd say a time out is fair.

I saw one thing on reddit - idk what exactly happens after that and before act 1, but Powder is only really angry, seeks for approval etc. - Jinx on the other hand LOVES to just destroy thing and kill people, at least the Jinx in League of Legends. Something is still missing I guess for her to really become the Jonx we know

The repeated monkey bomb explosions is to show the different perspectives. It's only one blast.

It's a single blast. It's a clapping monkey doll that was repurposed by a child, don't you think an explosion of that magnitude would be enough to blast its arms away on the first try?
@@psI6 ... but wouldnt the first blast destroy the monkey AND immediatly set off the other crystals in there too? Not to mention that we know that the explosion destroys the crystal itself too (since the enforcers didnt find the one that exploded in Jayces appartment)? And wouldnt Deckard not be in the exact same position anymore by the time the second and third one hit? Because he is and even does the exact same headmovement each time. Would he even survive multiple explosions? And wouldnt Silcos female assistant loose much more than just an arm if she just layed there for multiple explosions? To me it seems pretty obvious that its one enourmes explosion shown from all perspectives for dramatic effect because multiple ones just doesnt make any sense on all levels ...
@@datzfatz2368 it was a repeated showing of one explosion, like the commenter above said. Yes, the initial explosion would set off the other crystals, but it's not like it would wait for a few seconds and THEN explode. It detonated during the same explosion, making it stronger than it would have been if it was just one crystal. It's not a series of explosions, it's just one big explosion.

It hits hard how after powder says Vi is not her sister anymore Silco looks up a bit and sees Vander and feels that hard relate. He too was once a kid doing what he thought was the best for everyone, only for the person closest to him to turn on him. It's quite sad.

its not so sad when the person closest to you is freak out cuz you kill your father and friends with out even know it... the responsability goes both ways and the older always need take care of the younger but the younger can't take a free pass kiling the one who both loves ...
Well Silco projected alot and will probably gaslight Powder into believing their situations were similar. Vi had an emotional outburst, and decided she needed space after she made realized she was going too far.

Only League players get it.
It's been so long since I read their lore. Isn't there a twist where Viktor is actually the good guy? Like the whole "Glorious Evolution" thing is just what people think he is when he's just a guy who cynernetically enhanced himself but didn't try to make a cult out of it.
I feel that Silco, while taking a glance at his brother's dead body, felt sympathies for Powder as she was also "abandoned" by her sister. Silco sees himself in Powder and decides to, instead of killing Powder, takes her in.
One of the most emotional and visceral episodes of television I’ve ever watched; a masterpiece 10/10.

@@jacobileoo1941 well they've been retconing the old lore, since they are updating it to the new lore piece by piece. The new lore is kept intact tho and by the looks of it will be kept intact forever.
They actually do have alternate universes with each skinline being a AU. I don't like AUs either.

That lyric perfectly encapsulates the final scene between Powder and Vi. As heartbreaking as it is perfect, with an amazing song to cap it all off.
My interpretation is that Silco _was_ going to kill Powder, originally. He only changed his mind when he saw himself in her.
Maybe he's going to exploit and manipulate Powder in the future, but in this moment, I believe him comforting her came from a genuine place.
Definately not. He's manipulating her. Nothing genuine about it. That should be obvious from the drowning flashbacks.

I think he spared her because he indeed saw himself in her, maybe partly planning on manipulating her or making her be of use somehow, but ultimately grew fond of her and genuinely loved her like a daughter. Its how i perceive it though

It's hilarious how the majority don't trust Viktor, and it's going to be funnier seeing their reaction on what will happen between Viktor and Jayce in the future episode, if not, in a future series.
The story changed it doesn't even match the beginning of the old lore Viktor has, and also it's Jayce the dumbass not Viktor, he literally got his credit stolen , his invention blitzcrank is a good guy.

But it seems like in Arcane they are changing things up and instead of the two meeting as rivals, they became science buddies. But the betrayal is inevitable as that is necessary for them to become who they will be in the future.

Vander is not a “sort of” or “pseudo” father and Mylo and Clagger were not “pseudo” brothers.
Adoption makes real families.
The boys referred to Vander as Dad and their father. When people talked about Vander’s kids they meant all four of them. That was their family.
So the girls lost their family again, but this time Powder killed her whole family except for Vi.

I absolutely love Silco's reaction to Powder. Just that moment where he glances up and sees Vander's body says so much. They're both people who were hurt and abandoned by older sibling they loved because they were just trying to help.

I just noticed that Vi in the game wears Claggor's goggles and Mylo basically gave Powder her new name Jinx.
Powder's voice actress did an amazing job in this episode.

I literally just watched this episode with my friends, ended up having to mute my mic because i was crying too much
Powder (jinx) was already mentally unstable she saw her parents die, she grew up in a world of constant risks and danger, but her stability came from vi and vander, she only tried to help in as she thought best in her twisted and childish mind, but now when she thought vi abandoned her and blamed her, and vander is dead, the two things keeping her sane, she lost it and became totally crazy, and she will live with silco which was Vander's brother ( where the empathy of taking jinx in and raising her, as he saw his reflection when vander betrayed and abandoned him in her) so it will be a few years later in act 2 and you will see a totally different powder, but also a totally different Vi. Enjoy

This series is AMAZING and episode 3 is gut wrenching. You feel all the emotions in this episode. I can't wait for the other 3 episodes to drop.
When I saw what Powder was doing that's where I smiled wildly and cried after cause this specific event has been teased so many times in the game and seeing it illustrated in this show is rewarding and sad.
Jinx PENTAKILL, I feel bad for powder. She was just trying to help save her family. Come to think of it, the fact that she embraced the name jinx which was basically used as a slur for her character says alot about her psyche. wish i could give her a hug

Just the little subtle detail of powder looking away when crying like she was thinking making sure "I was just trying to help, right" then when she confirms it she looks at vi for her reassurance.
If powder hadn't released the bomb they would have all escaped. Vander was free and a hole was made on the wall.
I have seen this so many times yet i can't say where i stand with Jinx, on the one hand i get she wanted to help her family but on the other the consequences of her actions are just so brutal, she basically personifies the phrase "the road to hell is paved with good intentions."
I'm no theologist, but I'm pretty sure that phrase is intended for older people, not kids who don't know better.

love hearing from people not within the league of legends scene coming in and giving this show a real go, riot has always done well production wise and as a long time fine i feel they have broken my expectations i cant wait to see how everything ends!

The word arcane has to do with the magic which is centered around the story and the development of hex tech which a lot of the characters use. And it comes from that magician that gave jayce the Crystal who I think is ryze but I’m not sure but anyway the name actually means something

This episode while amazing and the best in the show so far is one of the biggest gut-punches I have seen on television in such a long time.

11:13 It's surprising to me how many people come away from this scene with that conclusion: "Are these different bombs?" or "Is it going off more than once?"
This is called a "Repeat Cut", where the same event is repeated multiple times, but often from slightly different angles.
This is used in films like Terminator 2: Judgment Day, when Cyberdyne Systems HQ is blown up, it's shown from multiple angles. They do the same thing in the Dark Knight when the Joker blows up Gotham General Hospital. In those cases its simply to make the explosion feel more impactful.
Actually, as far as I can tell, Arcane is pretty damn ingenious with how they use the Repeat Cut here, because they're not just doing it to add that OOMPH! factor. They do it to show the unintended consequences of Powder's actions. One little desperate act prevents the heroes' escape, nearly ends Silco's revolution before it starts, kills Clagger, Mylo (and probably a bunch of Silco's men), it dismembers Sevika, it scars Singed, nearly kills Vi - and it all still vindicates Powder as a fighter, albeit with a heavy cost.
PS - A neat bit of mirrored shots/potential foreshadowing that I just noticed: After Silco stabs Vander in the back, Vander turns and grasps Silco by the throat. Silco's expression is one of fear and even awe. Just a few minutes later, Vi holds Powder's face angrily in her hand, and Powder looks a little like Silco: terrified and desperate, unable to fight back.
This hints that Silco might've had a similar relationship to Vander back in the day: Silco looked up to Vander, relied on him. But something happened and he now feels Vander betrayed him.
This is very similar to the storyline that develops between Vi and Jinx later. And foreshadows a potential ending: one of them might end up KILLING the other. Goddamn this show has layers.

There is a nice video that the official league channel posted about 5 months ago called "A Score to Settle" that doesn't spoil anything but it is a nice vignette produced using the same art assets as this series.

I think something that is often overlooked, when talking about whether Powder was to blame for what happened, is that Vi (and the rest of them) were *encouraging* Powder to make explosives. They were constantly telling her she would be useful to the group, if she could get her bombs to work - and that she didn't need to be a fighter *because* she had her bombs (if she could get them to work).
Of course Powder was going to think she could save the day, if she could get her bombs to work properly. She was taught that all she had to do, to be a valued and useful member of the group would be to cause an explosion. At no point (as far as we're aware) had Vi, or anyone, ever told her to be careful with her explosives, to handle them properly, to not cause too big an explosion.
Powder/Jinx was always unstable, and violent ( sadly I dont think they have proper mental care in Zaun). Episode one she tossed a nail bomb at another child with the full intent of it going off in his face. Like yea the under city is dangerous and they were fighting, but she literally sits in her room making explosives, and her first instinct when confronted with a possible fight was a possibly lethal home made grenade. Her siblings who also grew up in the same invironment fought, got beat up a bit, swung back, and that was it. I feel bad for her as far as the lack of mental health care has failed her, but the events of the series didnt make her go mad/violent. She was already there( possibly from losing her parents)

It's so sad because I understand and love both vi and powder. vi was just lashing out and understandably so, powder litterly killed then when they were about to escape. But obviously she didn't mean to do that but I am kinda disappointed she hated vi so quick and easy even tho she's always been on her side thru everything.
Other than being a child who has weaker mental constitution than the rest (as she was the youngest). She was also in heavy distress - from the being in despair after they left to being happy she helped, to shock and, again, despair after the realization and abandonment. Plus, she seems to have separation anxiety issues that explains the immediate latching to the nearest person to offer company.
I wonder why no one has yet to make the connection that she might have separation anxiety, as she was freaking out when they all left (and we haven't seen her alone completely before, she's always with someone near). Only stopping when she formed a plan to go after them.

The show hits you like the first time you ever saw OT Star Wars. Great world building, you find yourself caring about the characters. Visually outstanding, savvy soundtrack work. This was a great episode.

Diseño de personajes de lujo (suficientemente alejado de lol, pero cercano para reconocerlos), trama de lucha de clases, mas realista que en otras series y eso que es un mundo mágoco. No the wall was broken inside, they literally all could have left shortly after he broke in
@@erroneouse1929 the wall was broken but there was no means of getting down from there. And if Deckard gets in, he would’ve immediately slaughtered them with his speed. To add to that most of them were injured too, there was no escape.
@@paulvillaroman7944 they knew how to climb up and down walls. I don't think that was a hinderance. Powder had just climbed up the wall to release the bomb for instnace.
I disagree. They had an escape route out. However, I will acknowledge that the monkey bomb distracted Deckard and you could make an argument that he was one punch away from breaking down the door and that this distraction was necessary for Mylo to finish picking the lock and Clagger to finish creating a hole, but you cannot know that for certain. Ironically, it would have been better if the contraption failed as usual.
@@CJDM310 Vander isn't gonna be able to run with how injured he was let alone make that jump from where theyre at, Vi is injured from her fight with Deckard and dropped the gauntlets she had while fighting. The only 2 uninjured are Clogger and Mylo so if the Jinx doesnt throw the bomb theyre the only ones that have the best chance of escaping because Deckard is gonna make quick work of Vander and Vi but lets say they all make the jump. Amp'd up Deckard chases them and kills them easily.
I’ve watched these arcane reactions more times than I can count. I first started watching you all with the MHA reactions and shit I’ll be the first to say that Kacee, then tears will come in useful for season 6 of MHA there’s actually a trailer out hope you react to it!
The monkey blast/explosion was only once. It was shown 4 times to show impact it had on everyone.
I’ve already watched the whole series and am now watching other people’s reactions but I never realized that at 10:15 Powder put THREE of the crystals on her monkey, not just the one that the cymbals kept hitting. No wonder why everything went to shit

It's so interesting rewatching this and seeing Powder throw a bit of a tantrum (which was more than just a tantrum) after knowing what she becomes later - it's sad because it's such a realistic portrayal of mental health struggles from childhood to teen/young adult-hood

Im meming on Star Wars 3 since i saw the trailer. And it became true. If they dont somehow totally fuck this up in future episodes it handles its corruption story so so much better and more believable. And they kinda did that for a whole region.
