I just love how faker looks weird enough that you question if he’s real, but not so off that you know exactly what’s happening. The split eyes, the buckle being gone, his limbs being blue are subtle but enough to tell you something is off

Dude this song is so damn underrated. I love how his voice in faker doesn't seem to fit at all, and they tweaked his design enough so it still looks like Sonic but you can just feel something is off... The black pupils, the separated eyes, mouth going across his whole face instead of being drawn in just one side like usual, the tired eyes, the simplified shoes... The song reflects this perfectly, it feels like you're supposed to be thinking "It's him! I know he won't hurt me" but you just can't help but feel that something isn't right. It sounds like it's trying really hard to get you into a false sense of security.
I really like that, from the very start of the song, faker doesn't stop singing. it almost feels like faker is trying too hard to seem like he's playing along, which makes the extended period of silence even better since it takes you by such surprise
i love how Faker designed. not complicated, got Sonic's basic things like his fur is blue, his shoes, his gloves but also it looks so off like his shoes has no stripes and buckle, he has four fingers, his eyes are black and the way he non-stop looks at you, that crazy-smiley face, also he doesn't have Sonic's attitude. i also found weird that when he is losing, his icon is smiling. it's like he KNOWS it's not over yet and he is trying to show you that. and when he is winning he looks so focused and kinda looks mad. and it gives me vibe that he doesn't want you to die yet so he can show you his final form. also when he sings and smile, he doesn't show you his teeth maybe because he doesn't want to show you that he is not real Sonic. i love that he got Sonic's look yet you still question and have that unsettling feeling that he is not the real Sonic. man i just love this mod sm.
That also explains why during the transformation you can hear him say “yes” multiple times and he also says “you’re too- you’re too- you’re too SLOW” then starts laughing
I think what makes faker unnerving is the fact that in none of his animations his eyes change, it’s always white and he never blinks, theres also subtle details missing, such as his arms are blue now, and his shoes don’t have a white strap anymore, his mouth is always black and never shows any thing else, even color. Also with the previous knowledge of him being corrupted, you know this is how, where, and what happened because it's act 1.
honestly the Faker is the most terrifying one for me. Usually the "ooh big scary monster with blood and sharp teeth" concept never gets me in any media. But the way he's designed, man. Its like he gives the feeling of this familiar friendly face that always comforts you in the dark, but the more you look at him you just notice that something feels very wrong

I remember looking at Faker for the first time and realizing things were off. Like how his shoes didn't have his yellow buckle. As if someone tried to shape shift into him but didn't get everything right
I like Black Sun's gimmick. It makes the health bar act a lot more like a health bar. Mistakes are mistakes and pretty much irreversible. A really good player may not even really notice the mechanic, but above average-ish players get a nice challenge. The first time I played I assumed there was just terrible life drain and it was impossible for my skill level, but I really just sucked and kept missing when I really had no reason to... I think I beat it second try lol
Fun fact: On the health bar, EXE's (official name of the transformed _'faker'_ Sonic) icon doesn't change when he's losing. It changes if he's winning.

One of my favorite details is that in “Faker,” there’s a repeated motif of instead of a V-i chord resolution, it instead does a V-VI resolution, which is known as a Deceptive Cadence. Really drives home that something isn’t quite right about the faker sonic.
Something about THIS Sonic just freaks me out, his design is so simple, it should be a "regular Sonic", but his poses and voice just make things weirder, it's a creature that looks just like Sonic, but just landing your eyes on him, you can't feel safe, but threatened For me, he's the most unsettling character in this mod, worst than his true form
I dunno. I kinda like the simpler design. The poses also don't seem to cause much concern either because I can imagine regular sonic doing something similar. His shading is a bit odd though seeing bf and gf being lighter.

The lack of stripes on his shoes Fur and gloves slightly discolored His eyes are separated No ring on the shoes His arms are blue Lack of any teeth And the fact they really try to act like Sonic, the poses are something Sonic probably would do, this character did their research, and tried to replicate all the big things, but left some small details out.
They also don't have enough braincells to realize Revie's innocence after so much conclusive evidence lmao. And the fact that it only started because of some stupid minecraft drama
this is my favorite sonic.exe and in my opinion the scariest, think if it like this: you're lost in the woods, you think you're gonna be stuck there forever, but then you find sonic, you're relieved, but then you feel suspension, his design doesn't look *completely* like the original, but before you can even process if he's real or not, "sonic" starts to grow and some of his fur starts to shed, as he starts repeatedly saying the common phrase everyone knows "you're too slow" in a distorted manner, you realized, it wasn't a savior, it was a trap, and you're going to die here, by a fake sonic.
Yeah, but the mechanic here is honestly hard. Imagine someone like a youtuber seeing this and they miss by accident and they don’t wonder by the bar not going back up, this song pretty much forces you to fc the song. Feels like defeat but more worse.
Not to mention the little signs that the faker sonic has some warning signs. Specifically his Icon having no mouth but as soon as you get him on his losing state he stops looking at BF and instead at *you* the player smiling, as if he recognises who you are.

I don’t think that anyone has noticed but in faker, Faker uses a lot of hold notes, While in black sun he mostly uses normal notes. Symbolising the difference between them, or that he’s basically telling you that it’s not really him.
he also seems to be covering up his very incredibly angry looking mouthless idle sprite (and obviously, after the transformation, he doesnt have anything to hide anymore)
@@zoeyuroboros5739 my guess is that Divide took the sonic 1 idle sprite and made it quite literal, sonic, in sonic 1, looks much more madder and angrier, very determined to stop robotnik's evil schemes than the sequels that came after it (not saying that in 2 and 3&K he doesn't look more determined but you get my point), so the fact that he always seems to be looking mad is a pretty interesting touch and shows that something looks really off about him, that's some great inspiration right there, may the man rest in piece 🙏
*Dramas aside...* I think Black Sun along with You Can't Run and Triple Trouble is one of the few fnf mod songs that portrayed health drain *correctly* since in YCR and TT you have to accidentally press the Ghost Notes in order to trigger the drain, and it increases gradually the more notes you touch, it actually requires the player to make a mistake instead of just "ohh the moment the song starts your health will drain 75% per second, what a good mechanic" and feels more organic than just adding a cheap gimmick to make the song harder Black Sun is another great example, you start with the bar at the top and it drains faster the more notes you miss and you can't regain the health, but that means you actually have the chance to keep the draining at bay, losing the song is your own fault for missing too many notes, *unlike* many other mods that add an unnecessary high health drain that has no actual reason to be there, being more like an easy attempt to say "look, i'm a hard mod too!" One of the things 2.0 made great in my opinnion, was precisely that, the songs were hard but not unnecessarily unfair, mechanics were not broken, charting was not 90% note spam and that's what most .exe restored mods didn't do, they started doing that average move of adding excessive difficulty to the songs without reason, which in my opinnion wouldn't have hurt anyone to keep things simple R.I.P Vs Sonic.exe, great stuff
I just love how Faker looks a little off from original sonic,yet similar enough to make you question him. Also,his icon,he know exactly what will happend after that. He hides his teeth,looks at you,just trying to scare you. And when he gets a chance to do a phase 2,HE DOES. He looks creepy,high,his eyes are so dilated they look all black. And his phase 2 song - It's just something wonderful. Yet it feels scary because you GET SO LITTLE HEALTH! This sonic is really well made here
it's funny how this is probably the last song you'll play in sonic 2.0 and you're used to how chaotic it gets but with this song it's slow paced and catches you off guard
The black sun sonic that you fight against is a really cool design, don’t get me wrong. But i honestly wish we got to fight the form that was in the transition. That form is far scarier than the one we fight imo.
Yeah, those eyes and that off-colour look to his skin when he's transforming as well as the twitching of his head- it was super off putting to me (in a good way)

Man... Faker(aka EXE) really got potential. A terrifying looking, a truly "Real sonic" form that really made you think that something was wrong with him. He is truly a good sonic.exe version, but now he gotta fly away with the others Rest well, Faker.
Fun fact: Faker sonic is really not a sonic, rather a disguise to look like sonic, take a look at you can see that it was a suit all this time, the suit got ripped in some parts in the process of the transformation, it has grey spots that shows that its a beast under it thats too big to fit in the suit.
The fact that EXE in Faker (after the intro) doesnt go into idle until a over a minute into the song makes him a little intimidating to me because of his angry look.
My favorite detail about the song especifically is that exe is not only trying to mimic Sonic's appearance, he is also trying to copy BF's movements and voice at the same time. When he stops singing during BF's solo you can tell he's studying BF to mimic him better, and at the end of the song he replicates perfectly BF's first part of the song. I just really like Faker
Honestly that sounds really cool, how he studies bf by watching him sing, before turning into a lanky beast, and even tho he acts like a mindless wild animal, he's intelligent, i believe he can speak in his true form, but chooses not to. As he does speak in the transformation. But he's basically a mimic, he studies something, or someone to mimic its movements or sounds, and appearance as he clearly studied sonic a lot, not perfect but really well, before showing what kind of creature he truly is, sad he is getting removed cause EXE is such a cool sonic.exe concept, instead of a fanboy demon who even forms a body likes sonic who wants the rule the universe, he's a mimic
I kinda wish black sun had you battle the weirdass sonic form you see during the transformation cutscene, that thing’s honestly infinitely more terrifying than the final form. Just the way its eyes seem to flatten as it jitters and convulses unnaturally all while keeping that horrifically oversized smile on its face, ending the whole thing off by lurching over the ground and quaking like it’s about to start vomiting blood, it’s fucking perfect. The exe form that we battle during black sun is literally just exe again but he’s taller and has pointy teeth.
Trust me, if you all knew the crazy shit this guy could actually do I'm willing to bet he'd be the most feared exe take. For you see, you're not dealing with the average exe take anymore. You are dealing with the legend. The legend that you all fear. He. Is the legendary. SUPER SAYIAN!!! .. k jokes aside I really do think EXE's final form is better than the original. It's like his entire skin's been stretched and contorted, revealing bone. And that large gaping maw just sells it. Nothing should have a mouth that big. That's part of what makes it terrifying
@@madzillakoth I'd say the mid transformation is the more unsettling one. The final form is more threatening one because it clearly looks like it means you harm. But the mid-transformation is just unsettling and just seems plain *wrong* and it's the lack of in your face danger conpared to the final form that makes it the creepier of the two. Although that's just my opinion since creeping dread feels far more scary than obvious danger to me.

The design of faker is actually pretty good, he’s like if Sonic was an alternate in the mandela catalog, he’s an imperfect clone of sonic with subtle differences that make you wonder is it really sonic, despite the so minor differences The wrinkles under his eyes and the frantic way he moves gives off a sense of mental instability as while much like an alternate overall its really uncanny Faker’s transition into his exe form is actually kinda scary, i have to admit Props to the designer! EDIT: also funny story, when I saw faker for the first time my silly ass thought he was movie sonic for a moment until i saw he's shoes were different
So I read a comment here saying that apparently EXE goes easy on you/tests if it's worth to have BF as prey. Now seeing his losing icon in Faker makes him say: "Oh yea, I'll kill this bitch." for me and I love it.
The really really big part that sells it to me. His idle pose. He only shows it for a second at the beginning, and during BF’s solo. But that is the big thing that puts all the details that tell you *THIS ISNT SONIC* (that many other posts have outlined) together. HE HAS NO MOUTH.
I’m honestly god hoping that they keep Divines work in here. Like, his artwork for this song should not be taken down because of what Revie did. Revie did terrible things, not Divine. And if it’s not in the next update, well, RIP the amazing artwork that Divine did for these songs.
I will be honest. The first time I watched Faker's gameplay it's kinda felt nothing. But after sometime I can see the beauty within him. Faker is the *only* character in this mod that will give you a sinister smile that chill down your bones. Makes him a perfect entity/nemesis by just hiding his true nature and waiting to kill you by *pretending.* Then there's him tranformed into Black Sun, a much more dreadful creature could existed. He's a good devilish character to be added into Fnf. Thank you Divide, for your hardwork drawing him and make him enter the community. Rest in peace, young one♥️
i love how instead of using jumpscares in this song like other sonic.exe songs do it uses atmospheric horror to create the feeling that somethings.....off for example it makes sonics mouth just a little bigger adds more shading makes his hands larger then usual his eyes (not the pupils) larger and the shoes have no stripes and the vocals, by just deepening them it adds to that feeling overall 10/10 song/week also thanks kumatori for mentioning it in another comment the limbs are blue yet normal sonic only the legs are and his poses are creepy af the way he doesnt outright go at you but stands in menacing ways, it gives you a feeling that feels primal, like you know that thing is going to try and hurt you
I really like how they did EXE here. It looks like he tried to transform into Sonic, but had no idea what he looked like, and only had a vague idea because he overheard people talking about him. Such as the black pupils, no teeth, hairy spines/quills, no buckle on the shoes, and the blue limbs. He really did try, but he ever so slightly messed up, which makes you question if he's actually Sonic.
I know people don't really talk about this that much but I love the way Faker Sonic's background is. It's like EXE is trying to cover up the horrifying environment that EXE made by covering it up with "happy" things, this could also explain why the totems and the flowers in the background are all depressing looking. And since EXE is evil he can't make a good happy looking flower and can only try his hardest to make a "decent" looking flower. Also that could explain why Black Sun's background looks like that. Either that or EXE is trying to be a well, faker and is trying to replicate Sonic's cheerful happy background.

Love the details of faker's sprite. From his arms being blue, there being no white stripes on his shoes as well his shoes being slimmer, and pitch black pupils. These subtle details were able to give off the feeling of something being off about Faker and I absolutely love it

Notice how his gloves are actually a darker, gray, His shoes aren't the same, and he has no teeth at all, as in black sun he immediately grows razor sharp teeth, his skin is a darker pale color than the light pale color, and in his idle animation he has no mouth at all, those are ways to know he's fake.
Sometimes I think about... what could've been, without Revie being the way they were. From the previously posted songs like Slaybells, to that instrumental posted on Marstar's SoundCloud, it just feels... sad. All that work, all that effort, just, BLAM. Gone to waste. And a part of Divide's work is now connected to this individual. A part of me wishes that someone could've taken ownership of EXE like what someone did with the original Sonic.EXE when JC came out as a groomer. But thinking about it now... Divide's death may've affected that outcome. And now EXE remains a footnote in the mod. Potential down the drain, and a lot of work with it. My only hope now is that someone eventually DOES pick up a similar concept. Not the exact same, but similar. Divide, you were one of the best on the team. Maybe even THE best.
Actually if im not wrong Com_Gaming got the rights of EXE, though he said he wont do anything with EXE for now and it seems like EXE and Faker are still getting removed on Upd 3.0 I hope they rework them instead of just throwing them out of the mod, they're one of my favorite characters and their songs too
Fun fact: Revie DID actually offer the ownership of EXE to someone (I can’t remember who), but they denied it, and I wish they did, cuz we might of still had Exe, which now, as of typing this, makes me think that Revie knew what she did, knew Exe’s time was limited, and wanted to not be correlated with it anymore.

I thought this was partially inspired off of the original movie sonic, especially with the pose at 2:05 But it’s also the director of the mod’s interpretation of sonic exe and I like it. Dude this song is so damn underrated. I love how his voice in faker doesn't seem to fit at all, and they tweaked his design enough so it still looks like Sonic but you can just feel something is off... The black pupils, the separated eyes, mouth going across his whole face instead of being drawn in just one side like usual, the tired eyes, the simplified shoes... The song reflects this perfectly, it feels like you're supposed to be thinking "It's him! I know he won't hurt me" but you just can't help but feel that something isn't right. It sounds like it's trying really hard to get you into a false sense of security.

i love how Faker designed. not complicated, got Sonic's basic things like his fur is blue, his shoes, his gloves but also it looks so off like his shoes has no stripes and buckle, he has four fingers, his eyes are black and the way he non-stop looks at you, that crazy-smiley face, also he doesn't have Sonic's attitude. i also found weird that when he is losing, his icon is smiling. it's like he KNOWS it's not over yet and he is trying to show you that. and when he is winning he looks so focused and kinda looks mad. and it gives me vibe that he doesn't want you to die yet so he can show you his final form. also when he sings and smile, he doesn't show you his teeth maybe because he doesn't want to show you that he is not real Sonic. i love that he got Sonic's look yet you still question and have that unsettling feeling that he is not the real Sonic. man i just love this mod sm.

I think what makes faker unnerving is the fact that in none of his animations his eyes change, it’s always white and he never blinks, theres also subtle details missing, such as his arms are blue now, and his shoes don’t have a white strap anymore, his mouth is always black and never shows any thing else, even color. Also with the previous knowledge of him being corrupted, you know this is how, where, and what happened because it's act 1.

I think the reason there's so many long notes is because his idle animation has no mouth, so he's just endlessly singing to hide the fact.
This is why I like this song so much better. I can imagine and feel the emotion with the song because of the gameplay.

honestly the Faker is the most terrifying one for me. Usually the "ooh big scary monster with blood and sharp teeth" concept never gets me in any media. But the way he's designed, man. Its like he gives the feeling of this familiar friendly face that always comforts you in the dark, but the more you look at him you just notice that something feels very wrong

I like Black Sun's gimmick. It makes the health bar act a lot more like a health bar. Mistakes are mistakes and pretty much irreversible. A really good player may not even really notice the mechanic, but above average-ish players get a nice challenge. The first time I played I assumed there was just terrible life drain and it was impossible for my skill level, but I really just sucked and kept missing when I really had no reason to... I think I beat it second try lol
Fun fact: On the health bar, EXE's (official name of the transformed _'faker'_ Sonic) icon doesn't change when he's losing. It changes if he's winning.

Something about THIS Sonic just freaks me out, his design is so simple, it should be a "regular Sonic", but his poses and voice just make things weirder, it's a creature that looks just like Sonic, but just landing your eyes on him, you can't feel safe, but threatened

this is my favorite sonic.exe and in my opinion the scariest, think if it like this:
you're lost in the woods, you think you're gonna be stuck there forever, but then you find sonic, you're relieved, but then you feel suspension, his design doesn't look *completely* like the original, but before you can even process if he's real or not, "sonic" starts to grow and some of his fur starts to shed, as he starts repeatedly saying the common phrase everyone knows "you're too slow" in a distorted manner, you realized, it wasn't a savior, it was a trap, and you're going to die here, by a fake sonic.
Yeah, but the mechanic here is honestly hard. Imagine someone like a youtuber seeing this and they miss by accident and they don’t wonder by the bar not going back up, this song pretty much forces you to fc the song. Feels like defeat but more worse.
Not to mention the little signs that the faker sonic has some warning signs.

I think Black Sun along with You Can't Run and Triple Trouble is one of the few fnf mod songs that portrayed health drain *correctly* since in YCR and TT you have to accidentally press the Ghost Notes in order to trigger the drain, and it increases gradually the more notes you touch, it actually requires the player to make a mistake instead of just "ohh the moment the song starts your health will drain 75% per second, what a good mechanic" and feels more organic than just adding a cheap gimmick to make the song harder
Black Sun is another great example, you start with the bar at the top and it drains faster the more notes you miss and you can't regain the health, but that means you actually have the chance to keep the draining at bay, losing the song is your own fault for missing too many notes, *unlike* many other mods that add an unnecessary high health drain that has no actual reason to be there, being more like an easy attempt to say "look, i'm a hard mod too!"
One of the things 2.0 made great in my opinnion, was precisely that, the songs were hard but not unnecessarily unfair, mechanics were not broken, charting was not 90% note spam and that's what most .exe restored mods didn't do, they started doing that average move of adding excessive difficulty to the songs without reason, which in my opinnion wouldn't have hurt anyone to keep things simple

My favorite detail about the song especifically is that exe is not only trying to mimic Sonic's appearance, he is also trying to copy BF's movements and voice at the same time.
When he stops singing during BF's solo you can tell he's studying BF to mimic him better, and at the end of the song he replicates perfectly BF's first part of the song.

I kinda wish black sun had you battle the weirdass sonic form you see during the transformation cutscene, that thing’s honestly infinitely more terrifying than the final form. Just the way its eyes seem to flatten as it jitters and convulses unnaturally all while keeping that horrifically oversized smile on its face, ending the whole thing off by lurching over the ground and quaking like it’s about to start vomiting blood, it’s fucking perfect. The exe form that we battle during black sun is literally just exe again but he’s taller and has pointy teeth.

k jokes aside I really do think EXE's final form is better than the original. It's like his entire skin's been stretched and contorted, revealing bone. And that large gaping maw just sells it. Nothing should have a mouth that big. That's part of what makes it terrifying

But the mid-transformation is just unsettling and just seems plain *wrong* and it's the lack of in your face danger conpared to the final form that makes it the creepier of the two. Although that's just my opinion since creeping dread feels far more scary than obvious danger to me.

The design of faker is actually pretty good, he’s like if Sonic was an alternate in the mandela catalog, he’s an imperfect clone of sonic with subtle differences that make you wonder is it really sonic, despite the so minor differences
The wrinkles under his eyes and the frantic way he moves gives off a sense of mental instability as while much like an alternate overall its really uncanny
Faker’s transition into his exe form is actually kinda scary, i have to admit

The first time I watched Faker's gameplay it's kinda felt nothing.
But after sometime I can see the beauty within him.
Faker is the *only* character in this mod that will give you a sinister smile that chill down your bones.
Makes him a perfect entity/nemesis by just hiding his true nature and waiting to kill you by *pretending.*
Then there's him tranformed into Black Sun, a much more dreadful creature could existed.
He's a good devilish character to be added into Fnf.

i love how instead of using jumpscares in this song like other sonic.exe songs do it uses atmospheric horror to create the feeling that somethings.....off
for example it makes sonics mouth just a little bigger adds more shading makes his hands larger then usual his eyes (not the pupils) larger and the shoes have no stripes and the vocals, by just deepening them it adds to that feeling overall 10/10 song/week also thanks kumatori for mentioning it in another comment the limbs are blue yet normal sonic only the legs are and his poses are creepy af the way he doesnt outright go at you but stands in menacing ways, it gives you a feeling that feels primal, like you know that thing is going to try and hurt you

I really like how they did EXE here. It looks like he tried to transform into Sonic, but had no idea what he looked like, and only had a vague idea because he overheard people talking about him. Such as the black pupils, no teeth, hairy spines/quills, no buckle on the shoes, and the blue limbs. He really did try, but he ever so slightly messed up, which makes you question if he's actually Sonic.
I know people don't really talk about this that much but I love the way Faker Sonic's background is.
It's like EXE is trying to cover up the horrifying environment that EXE made by covering it up with "happy" things, this could also explain why the totems and the flowers in the background are all depressing looking. And since EXE is evil he can't make a good happy looking flower and can only try his hardest to make a "decent" looking flower. Also that could explain why Black Sun's background looks like that.
Either that or EXE is trying to be a well, faker and is trying to replicate Sonic's cheerful happy background.

Love the details of faker's sprite. From his arms being blue, there being no white stripes on his shoes as well his shoes being slimmer, and pitch black pupils. These subtle details were able to give off the feeling of something being off about Faker and I absolutely love it
Faker and Black sun is one of my favorite songs. If you all love this songs and characters, you shouldn’t suppress to your love. Creator and creation is different exist. (But, Of course, we shouldn’t to forget what creator did)

Notice how his gloves are actually a darker, gray, His shoes aren't the same, and he has no teeth at all, as in black sun he immediately grows razor sharp teeth, his skin is a darker pale color than the light pale color, and in his idle animation he has no mouth at all, those are ways to know he's fake.

Sometimes I think about... what could've been, without Revie being the way they were. From the previously posted songs like Slaybells, to that instrumental posted on Marstar's SoundCloud, it just feels... sad. All that work, all that effort, just, BLAM. Gone to waste. And a part of Divide's work is now connected to this individual. A part of me wishes that someone could've taken ownership of EXE like what someone did with the original Sonic.EXE when JC came out as a groomer. But thinking about it now... Divide's death may've affected that outcome. And now EXE remains a footnote in the mod. Potential down the drain, and a lot of work with it.
My only hope now is that someone eventually DOES pick up a similar concept. Not the exact same, but similar.

I thought this was partially inspired off of the original movie sonic, especially with the pose at 2:05
But it’s also the director of the mod’s interpretation of sonic exe and I like it. I like that faker is subtle enough to tell you something is wrong but not obvious enough to make you know it’s a fake.
