  • Understanding grinding and honing and how to do
    both with the Viking Whetstone Pendant made
    of Ancient Ocean Jasper.
    This is part two with the knife I found,
    This video is a short sharpening tutorial.
    The Viking whetstone pendant
    I carry covers all bases in knife sharpening.
    The Ancient Ocean jasper
    Whetstone can be used as
    a one stone honing tool.
    Here is how to do everything
    from grinding to fine honing.
    This is the only sharpening
    tool I carry with me when hiking.
    The jasper stone cuts steel extremely
    fast and it will never dish out
    or need to be re-flattened.
    The hardness of the stone keeps it perfectly true when you sharpen so that your edge has perfectly even geometry.
    These stones are the best deal around,
    They will last multiple lifetimes in any size.

    absolutely beautiful demonstration I appreciate the fact that you take times to make videos to show us how to use your craft in such an optimal way.I have to say the Viking pennant you made me is much prettier than the one you're using.and I love it my only complaint is I have to keep dressing it almost every other day only because it's so fun to use and it's sharpens everything so damn well.and sharpen a few of my buddies knives and he asked me how come when you sharpen my knife it slices and cuts and edge feels so smooth mine feels sharp but kind of jagged on the very very edge.so I showed him my Viking stone and one of your videos since his wife gives him permission he'll be coming your way from one I think I got him talking to a puck as well. PS if you want to get rid of that knife let me know I'll send you my PO box number.I used to have one similar to that when I was a kid and that is a good knife and a good test of your stone they hold a good edge but they are kind of a b**** to sharpen. And I guarantee you your stones will make that task a lot easier

    I have found out that if I put a drop of Dawn dish soap in a small shot glass and fill it full of warm water and slurry it the other it makes a great medium to use on your sharpening stones

    Fun fact:
    That schrade you found and show in the video is an older one from when they were made in America. It's from a period when schrade had a lifetime guarantee EVEN AGAINST LOSS!!!

    Hi I just want to ask do you know what grit is slate stone?

    • @WildWhetstones
      @WildWhetstones  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on how hard and rich in grit the stone is, I'd need it in hand to make an accurate guess. But a broad bet is, 6-12K grit for slate?

    Is there another way to do this without putting your hand underneath?

    • @WildWhetstones
      @WildWhetstones  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can put the stone on a table top
