    Hello Create 2 make. It's been a while since 2017, but I've only just seen your video. Here's a tip from me for gluing pieces of wood that you want to detach later, like in the first step of In and out turning: Use the paper-gluing method, between the two pieces of wood to be glued put a layer of paper, possibly newspaper, with wood glue. So wood, glue, paper, glue, and the second piece of wood on top. This can be easily removed later, better than pure hot glue. Otherwise a great video, thanks for the work. Greetings from northern Germany, stay healthy. George

    Nice piece. I think you definitely need to have a look at the headstock on your lathe, and tighten up on the other side of the shaft, as there’s no way you should have that much lateral movement.

    Paul, this Awesome piece should be displayed more often than just at Christmas time.
    FYI: Please get, make a table saw push stick that does more than just than just push. It's best to have a longer one that provides more down force on the material as it pushes past the blade. My latest video shows my Mishap where I used my left hand as a pull stick, because my push stick only Pushed, BAD idea!

    What kind of glue did you use to glue pieces together.

      @@Create2make Thanks for answering! The color looks really nice. Is it amber shellac? Did you mix it with oil or anything else? I tried clear shellac with linseed oil, but it's just slightly yellowish and doesn't have the richness like on your video, so I'm really curious how you got it so nice.

    • @Create2make
      @Create2make 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was amber shellac, it was already mixed and that was the first time I had used it. It does make the wood pop really great

    There is a trick to unglue hot glue aht you need to google to learn. On your finials, unless youturn them with a fingernail ground detail gouge you will not get a crisp transition. I noticed that carbide tool is all you use besides your spindle roughing gouge. I noticed that you are using the skew chisel on its side which is not recommended. that's why you are hving trouble to roll your beads. Watch Alen Batty's video as how to use skew chisel. Once you you get ahng of it then you can roll beads and using the detail gouge will allow you to have a sharp transition on the coves. Your work came out Ok, but its too big to be hanging from the tree and it is not proportionate with the body of the ornament. Hope you take this as a suggestion and not insult. From one turner to anther. Best of luck in turning.
