@@madrigal1956 The Timpani are organized by size. In the German configuration the largest timpani is on the right, which makes sense for right handed people. The American configuration places the largest timpani on the left.

Being a timpanist myself I find it very difficult to play the drums in the German configuration as I play my drums in the American configuration
