I have this suv and it’s just a beast. I wish it had better fuel economy, that would make it perfect suv. The spaciousness and ride quality is unmatched.

@@tavy7200 it’s a 2 tonne vehicle with v6 engine and tow 5000 pounds on the base model so that’s why it consumes a lot but it still reasonable taking all these things in account in city 13 litres per 100km and 9 litres per 100 km on the highway it’s also has super handling and is all wheel drive

@renewer We're still very happy with our purchase. The gas mileage is decent, eventhough it requires premium fuel which costs more money. The car is fast and handles very well. My only complaint is of the active electronic suspension(dampers). Ours went out 7 months after we bought the car. After many months of searching I've come to realize that $980 would be the cheapest I can buy 1 for. Yeah 1!!! After labor I'm looking at $1300 easy. And you cant replace it with a standard suspension. It has to be the active electronic suspension. I think that it's ridiculous that a spring and damper kit would ever cost that much. Nothing I can do about it. I'm currently looking for a used model. .

Great review. I have a 2011 MDX and it is a great car, but there are two issues people should be aware of. First, the MDX high-compression engine has oil consumption issues. Acura is aware of this but they will only do repairs at their own discretion. My MDX has 69,000 miles and consumes about 1 quart of oil every 2,000 miles. I do not feel this is acceptable but Acura maintains that it is completely normal. People who buy these cars should be aware of this and make sure you check your oil regularly. The other issue that really bothers me is the 6-speed transmission shifts rapidly and noticeably from 1st to 2nd gear and it is very jerky. Even with new transmission fluid this happens. Again, Acura claims it is normal, and maybe it is, but I really hate it! Otherwise it is a great car.

Best years for an Acura MDX are 2007, 2008, and 2009. Try to find one with low miles. Change the tranny fluid every summer. Same with the power steering fluid.
Maintenance is very important. They will last you 500,000 miles if driven conservatively and you will be a winner!

One thing to keep in mind. If you buy the Sport or Elite version, do not replace the ADS electronic shocks (in back) and struts (in front) with new ones. These are notorious for failing and if your roads are bad you will be lucky to get more than 30,000 miles on them. The system has a problem with rust forming at the electrical connectors and the magnetic fluid inside gets over volted and prematurely fails. FYI I have the Elite model and am replacing the ADS dampers with the regular non-electronic ones and using 10 watt 5 ohm resistors in the front and 10 watt 2 ohm resistors in the back.

I have an 07 and 08 - the 07 has 254k and the 08 has 224k. Both have original engine, trans and rear end (SHAWD). Off the rip the 07 I had to regress the sport back to base (convert all 4 wheels to base shock setup and install strut masters fake out module due to unavailability of sport shocks). Stick to the maintenance schedule. They'll last. Wise man once said "treat her like a lady and she'll always bring you home"

But when those that bought it end up sleeping in the mechanic work shope for electrical fault, then others who loves to drive it drow back like me. So if the cause of the electrical fault can be discovered, really many loves to drive this car including me. I wish good answer can be given to me here from one who has the idea. Thanks to viewer

    Power steering is not expensive.
Spark Plug easy dyi work as the power steering
Timing belt...advance DYI. Don't looks as complicate as an audi. I did my volvo s60 and xc70 and is similar
Only question is the shock absorber... i can't find a price with the electronic model..
Really thinking getting one as secondary car and tow a small boat..
    Do you still have it?
    Thanks for the review..

Hi. Thank you for the comment! Yes, I still own it. The OEM electric struts could cost you between $800 to $1,000 easily. I did not find aftermarket shocks with the electric adjustment. Also, it is hard to find somebody to rebuild the original one: they all tell that there are no replacement fluid for Acura with electric shocks on the market. But according to my research, Acura uses the same fluid as GM which is possible to find. This summer I replaced the rear shock on regular without electronics, the front one is still original.
