BTW, Paul Stanley is a trained Opera singer and did "Phantom" in Canada. Crazy falsetto.

That's when Australia stepped in and said we'll take it! Australia took the fandom to the next level. By the time of the release of Unmasked it was estimated 1 in 11 Aussie homes owned a KISS album..

I think it’s crazy that rockers back then hated on disco because I love rock but disco is great too! It gets you moving, the groove gets ya 🤣 I feel like if people back then could see into the future and see how shitty mainstream music becomes they would of appreciated disco more 🤣

This song was written with Desmond Child, who has written more hits than you could shake a stick at. Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin On A Prayer", Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like A Lady", "Angel", "What It Takes, and "Crazy", and tons more for many successful artists.

This was a huge radio & club hit in 1979. It was Kiss's contribution to Disco. '78 & '79 were the years many Rock bands released a Disco-ish song. "Miss You" by the Stones & "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" Rod Stewart were two other good examples.

KISS turned me into a drummer and lover of music at the ripe old age of 6. I had a older cousin that was super cool and shared all his music with me and his younger brother. He gave us full control of his music and he was a drummer and honestly my first influence:) thanks Bruce!

My favorite band all through middle school. Then Back in Black came out when I was in HS and that changed everything for me. Kiss will always hold a place in my heart and I still enjoy their music. Their concerts are absolutely ridiculous, even the one I saw just a couple of years ago.

Paul Stanley did actually play bass on this particular song (very fucking well I might add)... he actually played lead and backing vocals, rhythm guitar and the bass as he was the first to record most of this song on his lonesome.. so the guy in the middle was very much correct

2:01 Just to clear a fact up for anyone wondering, (no hate to these guys) the only time they went without makeup was the “unmasked” era which started in 83’ but now they are back to wearing full makeup every concert. Even with them being 61-76 years old. KISS Army is the strongest army! Rock on!!!! 💋
Also I find it more interesting for people to react to less popular Kiss songs. This one like they said isn’t their biggest hit but its another one that if you’ve listened/heard of KISS… you know this song.

Lol because the song is amazing, and if your lucky, your might find the movie clip from "baby driver" the movie, which showcases the song "focus" by the band "hocus pocus", during one of the coolest car/foot/shootout, chase scenes in ANY action movie, with which the choreography matches the music so amazingly perfect, one can't help but to fall in love with both the song and movie! That being said, WOO! YEAH!...hocus pocus!....focus....yeah!!....kinda lost some steam there at the end. 😆

IMO as far as KISS songs go "I was made for loving you" is a bottom middle tier in their song catalog & to be honest most KISS fans don't really care for it because of it's disco aspects, however if you're lucky enough to attend a concert where they play it live - it's one of the most memorable highlights of the show.

To understand the characters in this video and the roles that they play you would have to see the original video. Paul Stanley the one with the star on his face the lead vocalist Gene Simmons the demon plays the bass, Ace freely the spaceman plays the lead guitarist, the cat man plays the drums and the accents and all the things that you like about the drums. Paul Stanley also plays rhythm guitar. To understand a lot of these groups especially the older groups you would have to watch original videos or at least live videos. I like watching the original videos myself.

fan here since 1976 yes this is a good song unfortunately at the time Most of the fickle kiss fans Wind that this was too much of a disco song and jump ship. Some of them will also let you know that Peter Criss didn’t play drums on the album and that some of Ace Frehley’s guitar work was dubbed over. However they did play this live in the 70s with Peter Criss and ace frehley and it sounded just as amazing. Kiss songs are very diversified so there is some thing for Everyone this is part of what makes them great. Enjoy cruising through their library you’ll get many different genres just from different decades have fun and thanks for your reactions I love when the younger generation discovers great music like this.

I wish you guys would have played the official video to this.
Also, this song was released in 1975 or 1976 . I saw them live in summer of 1976 at the Montreal Forum, and they opened with this song. Everyone went crazy! Gene Simmons descended from the ceiling onto the stage, on wires.
This song was #1 in the US So they were pre - ZZ top's prime.

@@Leslie_AvalonAcresFarm really? Now I realize that it was 1978. By the summer of 79 I was no longer living in Canada. This is strange.

@@justatalismanpassingby4106 sorry. This is what happens when you get older. Lol. But I know for a fact that I was living in Florida by 1979, and it had to be the summer of 78 that I saw them at the Montreal forum. I guess the show was still amazing, without this song, but I could swear they opened the show with this song. I wish someone else who attended their 1978 Montreal forum show, could confirm or deny.

Alice Cooper did the face paint in the earlier 70s, just a few years before KISS arrived on the scene in the mid 70s
Paul Stanley is the lead singer (who also wrote the song), Gene Simmons and Ace Freeley are on guitars while Peter Criss is on drums. It would help you a lot to watch the real video and not just do the audio.

Ahhhhh the song that sunk Kiss
Hardcore fans REVOLTED when this album came out because of it's strong disco ties they did however pick up a whole new batch of fans but it was smaller and weaker. Because of this they went from selling out Madison Square Garden to barely being able to mostly fill lesser venues. After this they released another that tanked and THEN they released the album that really tanked the band a concept album called "Songs From The Elder" that was absolutely horrible and the complete wrong direction. In the aftermath they took off the make up, reconfigured the band and started rockin again but never were to reach the stardom they had in the 70's.
    Peace

People who react to KISS for the first time seems to always go with this Disco/Pop KISS song. Fun song, but the real KISS rock was the music before this. I'm a huge KISS fan and like about 90% of there stuff including th pop KISS. The other 10% is the music from the Elder, yikes. Just my opinion.
