That first sandwich is definitely something an 11 year old, a pregnant lady, and dare I say even the Doctor would make and find delicious. Actually, now I wonder what it would have been like if Ten had a scene where he actually ate that peanutbutter sausage sandwich (a little IRL reference for Tennant himself) kind of like Eleven rejecting all the different household foods only to find the strange combination of fish and custard delicious.

I would totally be down for trying that sandwich, I bet it's pretty good. My dad always liked peanut butter and bacon sandwiches, and I'd imagine it's much like that.
David just watching the insanity and quietly eating his sandwich is adorable, though.
I remember making creative sandwich combinations at that age. (Finishing off camping leftovers made for some legends, let me tell you.) One that was actually quite good was adding raisins in the middle of a cheese sandwich (also had vegetarian lunch meat in it, which actually made for a nice combo, but I don't think substituting real lunch meat would be at all good, lol).

  • @thequietestengine

there IS a way to make this a lot more palletable if you want to give it a try. Simply cook the sausages in a frying pan and as they are cooking, roughly when they're starting to brown, coat them with crunchy peanut butter and fry them for a bit longer adding more peanut butter to cover the surface. It is gooey, it is messy, BUT it works. You're looking for just enough to create a sortof coating on them. For the bread, use thick sliced bread, white or brown if you want to add a bit more texture, and toast it. Use a slightly salted butter instead, not too much, just enough to give a golden sheen to the surface. Take your sausages, either put them onto the toast whole OR slice them up, your choice, add another slice of toast on top and you're done.

I would try David's sandwich if I wasn't allergic to peanuts. So maybe good subs would be almond butter and turkey sausage. Here in the United States, we can get sausage in the u-shape everywhere. I didn't know that there was any other way until 8th grade when I went to a sausage factory. I still get the u-shape, cut them into disks, and put them on sandwiches, over rice or pasta, or with some mashed potatoes.

    Sounds pretty good to me...
I personally am particularly fond of peanut butter on soft rye bread with heated (so the pb gets melty) Brown 'n Serve sausages. Original is good, Bacon or Maple is also good. Before they stopped making them, Oscar Meyer Smokie Links went well in the sandwich.
The idea arose from my also-12 year old mind when I was craving a peanut butter & bacon sandwich (always on white toast) and we had no bacon in the house.
