Randy Kraft | The Scorecard Killer
HIs childhood was positively idyllic. So, why did he go on to be one of the more prolific serial killers?

The contrast between his and Bonnin's childhoods and the extreme similarities between their MO's is fascinating.

I was a very young gay man in the early 1970's living in Huntington Beach just a few miles from Sunset Beach. My gang hung out at those bars in that town a lot. The bar Randy worked at was called Broom Hilda's. I'm sure he must have served me beers more than once as we were both there(?). Pranksters once tied rope to the electrical panel behind the bar and hooked it to a truck and drove off. Party over, my bff was there that night and they moved the party else where. It was the next day they found the leg in the dumpster. I always thought Randy threw it in there on his was into work. At another disco on the other side on Long Beach I met a guy, we hooked up and had a handful of dates. The first morning when I left I asked him for his #, He had to look it up saying the police had just allowed him to move to this new apt.& he didn't know the # yet. Red Flags! He explained his former roommate had been on a trip but had come home because his motorcycle and tooth brush were there but he wasn't. More days went by and there was the article in the news paper, body found in mountains. The body had a tattoo on his ankle or lower leg. That's when this guy knew it might be his roommate. He went to the police and it was his roommate. My date was then under suspicion and was investigated and followed to work, phone tapped and mail read until he was cleared after several months. My date's roommate was Vincent one of Randy's victims. Many years later I lived in Long Beach when Randy was arrested he was living just a mile or so from where I was. Those are my Randy Kraft stories.

Thanks for another interesting episode. Krafts depravity and torture is extremely difficult to fathom. He is definitely one of the worst in history. And to have nothing in his young life… no abuse, setting fires, animal cruelty…he is a very difficult case study

If a one-year-old breaks his collarbone, then he’s being abused. Probably got thrown down the stairs too.

I just started listening, and I'm a fan so far. As I have listened to other programs about serial killers, this one makes no sense but then again, others don't either. Sometimes I think it's just plain evil in these people to do the things they do

Does anyone know where he actually killed his victims. We know he got them into his car but where did he actually torture and kill them?

Truthfully, when I hear a kid is having accidental injuries at such a young age I question what was really happening at home. Plus being the only boy. Just seems off. I bet he'd never admit anything was happening at home though. He wants to pretend home was good and normal

Just found out my cousin mike who disappeared in 1974 may have been one of the first victims.

Randy Kraft is up there with the “worst-of-the-worst” serial killers (SKs) to me. I read “Angel of Darkness” (AOD) - I think that’s the title - quite a few years ago and that is a tough read, even for SK readers. But I would say he’s maybe as bad as Lawrence Bittaker - one of “The Toolbox Killers” - or the guy in Houston who strapped boys to his “Death Plank” - “The Man with Candy.” (Great book by Jack Olsen who is called “The Dean of True Crime” for good reason.). Roy Hazelwood I think called sexual sadist SKs the “Great White Sharks of serial crime” and I agree. (Paul Bernardo is up there too although Bernardo would be maybe one notch lower. I think that Dr. Michael Stone has all these guys at the highest ranking of his “evil” scale but I think Bernardo isn’t quite as bad as these guys, splitting hairs of course, mostly because Bernardo didn’t get into pre-mortem mutilation.)

Completely skipped over the deaths of Christopher Shoenborn and his cousin Dennis Ault, who were murdered by Kraft in Grand Rapids, Michigan in late 82.

Randy Kraft was a Narcissist of the worst order. It’s interesting though because I’ve read maybe hundreds of true-crime books, mostly about serial killers (SKs). But I think I found a pattern or two. SKs who are also software engineers, for some reason, are some of the worst sexual sadists. Bittaker was a Tool-and-Die Maker from memory. But if you take someone who had a potentially inappropriate relationship with his mother, and a distant relationship with his father, and then he’s born with psychopathic traits anyways - brain scans seem to prove it’s from birth with psychopathy - and he has a high IQ, watch the Hell out. That type right there is the most dangerous person you might ever encounter.
