    Good one mate . That crusher looks great . And goes good .

    great concept and very similar to what I have built. but I'm wanting to make another one, very close to what you have so your ideas and input were listened too.

    It looks like you are using regular coated (zinc, galvanized, or cadmium) logging chain for your main hammers. You might want to switch to an uncoated hi-test or high tensile chain. It would be much harder, be more efficient, and last much longer. Nice start, nice affordable design.

    A bigger diameter shaft seems hold up for me!! But I run direct drive with shaft coupler. I use shackle with the chain.

    Just my thought on this! Welding on a hardened shaft can make them brittle. What if you had a way to clamp on a set of chains? Also it seems to me the shaft is on the small size. Just my opinion. But it works well with what your using it for!

    Nice design, what caused the shaft to break in the first place?

    Over feeding snapped that axle and wore those holes out. Classifying your cons then run each twice regardless of size gives great results sift your batches after you run them to take large hard stuff out which will help in cleanup a simple kitchen sifter strainer works great. Ease up on your feeding. If you want hold your hand on the plate. Down low you will feel the unit clean out you have a three way spilt in materials 100s minus about 35. % 60 minus @40% above 60 on your balance have two mills run a lot of desert material security square chain is killer but if you over feed will tear your chain. Eyes out again. And snuff the axle. To those behind me reading this there are several companies who make square security chain it's a bitch to cut the guy selling samples I doubling his money Makita mini or a torch cut that stuff best use the very thin cutter discs cause you'll be cutting cr3012 treated steel it's a theives worst enemy will take about 4 minutes a slice yup it's a biatch

    What would happen when you add water to the rock intake? Rust and less dust for sure, but i wonder if it would help the crushing or the reverse. The idea is that you could add a sluice directly under the crusher. You'd have to move the exit holes to the bottom, the water may plug the holes. Just an idea.

    I saw 1 smaller out of Canada, no motor they want $1,200. the screen was in the bottom and you could see it would get damaged since they sell replacement screen's.It looks like your eject is out the side and drill holes instead of screen? I am in a area where I don't think shipping is a option. so I will have to build. Took some to a assayer's office, he said I'm looking at 5-6 grams a ton. I own all rights to 4,800 acres that 100's of years ago was mined silver and gold. I plan on going through the tailings piles. Thanks for building your's.Great Job. Oh I'm stealing the idea...

      Not only are you welcome to use the ideas but because of this comment I made another video where I got a bit deeper into how I made the crusher. I hope it helps when building your own. :D

    can i ask you, where do you buy the shaft, and the barrings. i just don't know where to go to buy them. i have an electric motor, I'm going to use. i think you have some good ideas.

    If you bolt the chain to the shaft lugs no more problems 😅

    • @Puddin

      I could see it pulverizing corn pretty well but not sure about wheat and barely. For those I would think you meed moire of a grinding than a smashing.

    I've run tonnage through several different machines. And developed equipment. Your torn out holes to small holes not enough air and material flow those tears in the metal are from hitting bedded material that stalled out in the machine = not exhausted. The chains hit at high speed slippage is not good in this application do you run loose belts on you car ? It's no different if you. Make a tensioner to hold the belt so it doesn't. Slip the flopping is over load on a non tensioner belt tsc 3inch idler two 3/8 inch bolts sphere a nut welded on th rail say. 4 in piece of stock you want the most wrap on th drive pulley of the drum motor end

      Not sure why you are making several different comment chains rather than sticking to one but I'll try to address them here.
      "Your torn out holes to small holes not enough air and material flow those tears in the metal are from hitting bedded material that stalled out in the machine = not exhausted."
      --This is simply incorrect. I used to soft of a steel with too thin of walls for that application and centrifugal force just ripped them out. Whilst I agree the vent holes are too few, it takes several hours of running before I start to get material built up.
      "The chains hit at high speed slippage is not good in this application do you run loose belts on you car?"
      --Once again this is incorrect. You have to have slippage so that the shock of those chains hitting rocks does not get transferred to the motor. No I do not run loose belts in my car because that is a completely different application. If the motor in my car was running a rock crusher then yes, the belt leading to that would be slightly loose. Whilst I agree I could use a tensioner i would still require a small amount of slip. The only issues of the loose belt is more wear on the belt and lower efficiency. It did NOT cause any sort of mechanical failure.
      "Btw that slippage caused your failures. "
      --I thought you said above it was small vent holes that caused the failure?? Either way tis incorrect.
      "Go ahead just trying to help you I built and designed equipment. For years. Before you where born."
      --The only time someone says this is when there isn't enough merit in the info being provided and the spouter feels they need to add credibility to what is being said. The only thing this actually means is that you used outdated equipment at one point and says nothing at all of skill or knowledge.
      "Your machine you better bolt or clamp down those out of alignment loops you welded on are gonna shake like hell."
      --I too was worried at first about those loops being a bit off but found that they are close enough to the point of rotation that the centrifugal force being exerted on them is not enough to really be noticed.

    The major secret is - in using a Hard Drive magnet.

    • @Puddin
      @Puddin  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol Not sure if it is a major secret but they are awesome when it comes to holding metal whilst welding. I have tons of them to scrap out and it doesn't matter if they get ruined.

    Your chain failures are due to two factors feeding to fast and to much in the machine when the case gets hat you have to much in you need clear jhot tub tubing running around the edge tighten to snug. Belts not tight enough gearing is wrong

    • @Puddin
      @Puddin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There has been no chain failures after this video. Literally not a single one.
      How could you know what my feed rate is? The belt is supposed to be that loose to allow for slip.
