The last reptile show I went to I ran into a vendor who has clearly given up on caring about the animals in any way besides they are just money. Many of us know the type "I got into breading for fun with my kid" Kid grew up but dad saw $$$. Either way he asked my rough plans for breeding and why I was only looking at his low dollar simple gene snakes. I tried to explain to him Balls are not my main focus for breeding, but I spotted a simple gap in the market so for me to still care about the snakes I'm only going to focus on pretty low dollar snakes. In a year or two when I get a table or two, I will have the most variety at the show's I vend. Carpets, Children's, Corn's, Balls and my friends Sand Boa's. All of the color and eye candy possible but reasonably affordable. So many kids are interested in snakes but so few vendors seem to focus on the new keepers.
My first ball python, as a keeper and hobby breeder, is a 1.0 Pastel OD. People pass on simple gene snakes, failing to see that they make up a great deal on multi gene combos that are currently trending. The OD really keeps Pastel clean and reduces the age darkening alot.
I agree. Pastel is an awesome gene. I plan on trying to make an Axanthic Clown Fire Pastel.
By the way I use sheds in my gardens to keep out rabbits etc.
I have a super pastel that was hatched in 2003. The previous owner said he paid something like 5k for her. She just gave a healthy 7 egg clutch btw.
my favorite two pastel dual gene combos are pastel ghi and pastel mahogany, lots of good stuff with these and they mature great and keep some color variation , gret vid as always
I think Pastel is a must for calico if you want high whites and also goes well with banana for the “better with age” look
I agree pastel makes many things look better! I know it gets lots of backlash. I’m the same as you, if I never make a 5k snake I’m totally fine about that. I want to make pretty snakes no matter the price
Seen Matt today at the okc show real good guy enjoyed talking with you brotha looking forward to joining the patreon
Can't wait to have you on patreon! Okc was a great time!
@@OlympusReptilesdefinitely gonna be looking forward to getting some axantic from you guys the darker the better
I will say pastel does no favors to my favorite gene, banana in my humble opinion is better solo than with pastel. But different folks different strokes. I am sure there are people who love that combination. Thank you so much for sharing and best wishes always.
I have 5 ball pythons and 3 of them have pastel in them I like pastel 🔥🔥🔥🔥 great video
Interesting video since my only ball python is a single gene pastel.
That pastel pinstripe spider is just, WOW!! I may have a new favorite over the (super)pastel axanthics!! Is it a hard combo to hit or could you make it in a repetition with ease?
Not to difficult
That ax spinner bee is wow😮
Dg also 😊
Pastel clowns brown quite a bit as the age.
I happen to like the way you look even as adults.
I totally agree with the champagne gene being connected to an a$$hole gene. Though love working with it anyway.
are u a wizard?
