I have never had hand dyed yarn but dk or weight worsted weight yarn the yard is beautiful

Oh also, I find that speckle yarns are very good in crochet. They look cooler crocheted than knit. I also tend to think that variegated looks much nicer as crochet than knit. Knitters do better with the self striping however. I only crochet so I appreciate you targeting crocheters for a change!!

My absolute favorite base has superwash merino and silk, preferably single ply roving. One of my first yarns that I fell in love with was malabrigo silky merino. Do you dye any single ply yarns?

I have dyed some single ply yarns. It was non super wash merino yarn. It took up color nicely. It was a gift for my daughter in law.
