Slitheryn was produced by Corey Taylor. I own the 4 song EP and a 2 song CD of theirs. Great band and they were lucky to work with Corey.
Two songs that Corey was on were "Get Up" and "Lost".
He was back vocal for a young band called Slythers of something. Bunch a kids draw the attention of corey and decide to be guest vocals.
Corey is an amazing guest singer, I really love his IOWA scream style, it's such a shame that was dangerous...
@@alanriot2099 i dont believe is that dangerous tho
@@kultovabomii7045 I mean his 2001-2002 vocal style, he literally was yelling and adding distortion from his throat... That damaged his vocal chords... Because it was a scream without a right and safe vocal technique
@@alanriot2099 there's a technic how to "fake" scream.
@@kultovabomii7045 well since he was using his throat and not his diaphragm he was destroying his vocal chords
I've never heard Corey hit a low like that.
same
When I heard him I was like "H0ly 5hiT!" That's amazing!
@Gerrit Todd cant stop age man. At least his feats were recorded and immortalized
Inhale does wonders
His lows are perfect for a deathcore, beatdown, or slam band!!
0:55 that was some brutal death shit
imagine if he brought that to Slipknot
Some bolt thrower type stuff
He did several times on iowa actually. Like on gently he actually does his low quite a bit especially on the transition to the breakdowns as well as during the breakdown. Also does it on new abortion, beginning of people = shit where he builds from the low into his mid. Also he does his low in disaster piece before the "I wanna slit your throat and fuck the wound" part of the verse. Those are just ones I can think of top of my head
@@ZR_-mj6yu I think on gently before the "This mode is incredible!" part as well.
00:21 "You try to scream, you try to shout. Forget about it, nothing's coming out."
Just your avarage constipation.
😂😂😂
I don't even know how he still screaming
It's not the same but he never stops. More than 20 years doing this recording for different bands and on live
He is a beast
No more Cigs, or Alcohol...Ya boy is a healthy Beast!
I think the first time they blow their vocal cords, they go through all the motions of seeing a doctor and end up seeing a vocal coach.
I wish he could’ve preserved those vocals
It would've fucked his voice till he couldn't speak. Let's just be happy he's still here yeah?
@@belcarra That’s what I meant, I wish he could’ve preserved his vocals without destroying his throat
@@belcarra I'm not a vocalist, but is his scream really undoable without hurting your throat?
@@CrawleonDunger I've been practicing techniques for my band. All I know is that the "Corey growl" isnt really sustainable for everyone esp if you go on tours playing night after night. Wether or not it affected Corey shows in how he sounds right now. different but still a fucking badass. I assume he's constantly experimenting. He's even had metal vocal coaching.
@@CrawleonDunger Basically all the grit in his voice here comes from his throat with not enough gut support. So if you've ever just yelled as loud as you could when you're angry and know how your throat feels after that, extend that by an hour or so several days a week for a year. Your voice basically disintegrates😅
Corey's had more hairstyles than the rest of the band members combined.
0:52 wtf Corey O_o never hear him like that. Too bad he never use this in Slipknot songs :(
Agree with u
he does in gently lol right after it gets into the fast part of the song, right before he goes "this mode is incredible" in his high
th-cam.com/video/3QIGeNqi6l0/w-d-xo.html
@ 4:16 he does a low just like that, and an even lower growl behind the "this mode is incredible"
@@QwertyBuoy i know the album and the songs and no its not the same
@@QwertyBuoy no its not that low
This is when his voice was prime in my opinion
His screams were in their prime here for sure.
Yeah his harsh vocals, but his singing improved a lot
this is when he destroyed his voice
Fully agree
0:17 That scream is fucking sick
yes that is a pure rage throat hurting Corey Taylor scream
Amazing.Lets hope that their next album will be as good as Clown claims to be
Tutututu by myseeelf
it wont be. It's going down from here.
@@commodore6430 I hope you are wrong
@@arcane3943 I hope so too but they're getting hella old. That style just isn't sustainable. Clown has talked about how hitting the kegs with baseball bats has messed him up. I'd want him to stop before he wrecks himself completely.
@@commodore6430 At least Corey Got his voice back, they got a young drummer, and mick and jim are still solid af on guitar they just can't bend their body in half to the beat of the song anymore lmao
Corey has amazing vocals! 🤘🤘🤘
Had :(
@@alanguzman7070 He still does! Especially in We Are Not Your Kind! 🤘
@@alanguzman7070 he still does dude. He had way worse days than he does now

Dude that scream at :57 is chaotic
Man I miss his SCREAMS n yells from Iowa. Shit always had me hard jamming. Forever the best vocalist.
This era scream was recorded on the actual album it sounds like to me...
If Corey isn't drinking 60 liters tea with honey everyday, something is very wrong.
They sound brutal but imagine how painful it must have felt afterwards
Actually if you scream correctly it doesn't cause damage to your vocal chords. He's been screaming for 20 years in slipknot if it caused damage he would have lost his voice by now. Another example is corpsegrinder who's been screaming longer than Corey.
@@robertcrevo9256 for self titled and Iowa he was doing it wrong. That's why he can't scream the way he use to anymore, especially when it came to vol 3 and ahig. He almost did permanent damage when it came to Iowa.
@@robertcrevo9256 he has screamed wrong. But the reason why he still has his voice is Because of that huge neck of his.
@@robertcrevo9256 what the others guys said was correct, during the first 2 album cycles he was just straight up yelling from his throat, which did damage his voice and had he not learned to properly scream slipknot wouldn’t be around
oh yeah man no doubt rhat left his vox chords quaking a bit
Gimme a scream Corey
1:05
if you can scream with your body as relaxed as he has it in this video (he was even sitting down in the beginning) it's generally an indicator of good technique
He didn't have good technique
@@ryanwhalen1533 why
@@nexttime4532 it was destroying his voice
@@ryanwhalen1533 alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, regular talking and screaming every night for tours upon tours did.
Not his technique per se.
His technique later had to be adjusted to what was left of his voice from his lifestyle.
@@nexttime4532 if his vocal technique was safe it wouldn't have completely destroyed his voice
El Corey: >:0
El morrito: :0!
El morrito se la rifa también 👌
His third scream (the mid) was perfect. No true vocal chords involvement, only false folds. That's his real growl.
Wowwww es muy raro encontrar un video asi :o gracias :D
V3rdad
Imagine Corey yelling at his kids when he gets mad
Man, I'm glad I found this video, it really shows how rockstars can be humble.
0:53 COREY DEATHCORE
I did not expect that when clicking on this video. That sounded awesome
Man!!! Some ppl are just not destined for the glory imagine having corey taylor himself to help you with your band/project and still not making it
CT is an a awesome screamer, great range and control of the tone
From a vocalist perspective Corey's Iowa scream is not recommended to use but for small bits yeah it's cool, doing proper techniques is better for saving your vocal abilities
so hes not even using any technique
That’s actually what made slipknot sound so unique.. dude seriously cut himself on the recording of Iowa (song not the album entirely)
If you hear at 0:13 and 0:55 you can hear his real growl, that was full false fold distortion vith no true vocal chords involved. If he screamed like that (as well as like he did in Iowa and Gently), he could've retained THAT level of distortion throughout his whole career.
@@B_COOPER Funny enough, Iowa is the "safest" song he ever recorded from a vocal perspective - along with Solway Firth, Gently and Gematria -Those were full on death growls, no yelling.
@@allcolorsareentombedinblack
How are you able to tell just be listening to him? I’m not a vocalist so idk
Man this guy's talent is unbelievable
0:52 that guttural was insane
OH MY GOD!!! Perfect...
The best scream
That’s slythern (I may be spelling it wrong) they were from marengo Illinois! Right by me. They were actually pretty good
years ago I thought it was impossible to growl now I can do like him
Wow......he's good......dang.

Another guy that has a similar scream to Corey's is Jorge from MERAUDER imo.
And more recently : dudes from LEFT BEHIND and KUBLAI KHAN.
The left behind feature on kublai khans song us & them literally sounded like Corey from Slipknot when I heard it lol still does to me as well

Best scream ever

Por los pacmas pensé que el vídeo era de hace 5 años.
Ufff chulada de voz
He has an awesome growl. I don't know why he has to make it sound like shit by cupping the mic.
0:52 AND THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT ONTO IOWA???
Iowa is _the_ best gateway album to death metal.
0:17 Corey Its A Monster
Extraño esa voz :(
Meu irmão que vozeirão do caralho 🤘👏👏👏
ele é o vocalista da banda ,Slipknot
That kid's name is Frankie Burke, he sadly died not that long ago.
Slitheryn was the band
Corey é um mosstro, noss... Puta voz.
Era
Ya quisiera gritar así :”
X2, hermano :'v
Hopefully the next album will be IOWA levels of heavy
Y’all need to let that shit go frfr. They’re not depressed and angry and on drugs/alcoholics anymore
Never happening lol
Why not just full of death metal instead of Iowa?
I mean 0:57
0:16 Am i the only one who loves the kid's scream too? Reminds me of Trevor Wentworth from the early days of Our Last Night
What’s up Broski 🦋
Rest in peace to the kid singer he died a long time ago I don’t remember when though
That kid will be a prodigy one day

Best fat Corey times
shit first time seeing this his lows blew me away
los buenos tiempos de slipknot que nostalgia
wooowwww i think he stil can do that shit but this was his own way, he later had a vocal coach that taught him to scream without hurting his throat

I thought his hair was black during the vol 3 days
Wait did Corey did a gurtal before gurtals where a thing ?
Gutturals were a thing way before Slipknot...
@@jeffreygaudet1261 I meant it before they got popular in deathcore and in metal in general cause I know there where a thing slam
@@kylegrams1252 They were already quite prevalent in the death metal scene of the late 80s and early 90s, in early black metal as well, Pantera in the late 90s, etc. It caused quite an uproar in the mainstream calling it violence inducing and Satanic. Quite a fun time haha 😅
@@jeffreygaudet1261 I'm pretty sure black metal didn't have gurrtals and early death metal it took awhile for gurrtals to become a thing in metal cause slam was the only one it have until deathcore and I listen to a enough pantera to know that they didn't have gurrtals I have listen to the last three albums I'm exclude live performance cause it comes how the vibe of the show
I know recommend the punk rock mba channel to get your fact straight
