@billyedwards6941 that's a major part of it when they started there was only 3 channels on TV and the 4th started a few years in so most of the time people just watched because there was nothing else to watch and even back then if there were more choices a lit of "popular" tv show would have gotten cancelled during series 1
Someone I know used to collect autographs and approached Little and Large after a gig. Eddie Large ignored him, and when politely asked again told the guy to ...k off. Syd was left standing alone by Eddie, apologising for what had happened. Took time to give his autograph, and was a seemingly lovely chap.
Note- they were BBC entertainers for 13 years, not ITV. No malice towards either performer, but their act was threadbare, the humour predictable and viewers became bored with Syd and Eddie. However, could they possibly have been restricted in what they could do by being on television on Saturday evenings as I wonder if a more mature, bluer version would have been interesting, same as Keith Harris did an adult version of his ventriloquist act on stage that was supposed to be very good.
They were about as funny as being belted in the face with a bucket of freezing cold sick. As said by others, there was only 3 channels for us to choose from back then, and 2 of then shut down in a morning till teatime.
@@TheDarkVampire666 Even more mysterious is the fact that some people actually think that Michael McIntyre is funny. They say it takes all sorts but good grief! 😕
I built Sid Little's fireplace, in Torquay. Lovely guy and as funny off screen as on it
Not funny at all then
Rest in Peace Eddie Large 🙏
It attracted millions of viewers because there was fuck all else on the telly

I remember voting for them on Opportunity Knocks when I was 8. That was about the level of their comedy.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

We thought they were far better than when on TV.
Best pantomime comedy act I have ever seen they were hilarious RIP Eddie Large
I agree with many here ,how they lasted so long gd knows .
Shame the clips were repeated so many times.
You ahowed a clip of annon & Ball by mistake @ 2:26
😅😅
They were shite too
😢 Sadly money 💵 always rules every thing !..
Where did they mention money??
Toss up between them and Mike and Bernie Winters as to who was the worst comedy act with two straight men.
Morecambe and wise, cannon and ball not funny at all.
Between 01:32 and 01:58 - Isn't that the late Rodney Bewes narrating ?
No one will ever take over from Eric and Erin
Scary how three tv channels had so much influence on the population.
No wonder they hate these modern times. 👍
Great comedy in great 80's days.

Sid nowadays runs a pub in Fleetwood.
Love fleetwood
Steamer
@@gordonshewan9892 yeah that's the one near the docks .
I didn’t mind them plus Eddie was a blue back in the day when Man City was that good 🔵🔵🔵
Try hale and pace
Thought they were awfull
Met them once in Newport. So unfunny.
Well they made it good for them
these two ffs funny as having the shits
Never found them remotely funny at all.
Thier act was the same old, same old routine every time.
Surprised they lasted so long.
Reminded me of a desperate attempt at laurel and Hardy
Funny seemingly until you got to the age of 8, then again after you reached 80. They ran out of material after Opportunity Knocks.
It was no tragedy. They were crap 😂
Its a tragedy, they lasted,so long,corny crap.
The real reason they broke up is because they were rotten !!!!
I never found them funny or entertaining if I'm honest. Not even sure why I watched this!
And you’re evil.
As others have said I honestly never found them funny at all God knows how they lasted as long as they did

😕
God they were terrible
Crap really
Bloody hell they weren’t that bad.
Let me tell you mate they were not popular in the 70s/80s they were always for old people.Anyone under 90 never thought they were funny.END.
They were about as funny as a dose of syphilis
No they sucked, a wanna be "Canon & Ball" act, never found them funny especially the skinny guy, Smith & Jones were way above these unfunny bores.
They were crap.
Of their time.
they sure were
Yes they broke up cos they were not funny
Unfunny duo!
They cant have been that bad if they lasted THAT long.
Mike and Bernie Winters and Cannon and Ball were both bloody awful.
