#GreenDay #Dookie30 #WhenIComeAround
So that's basically "When I Come Around" if John Frusciante had written it
Semisonic "Closing Time".
Sorry if I ruined this demo for you. Lol
John Frusciante is my spirit shark btw.
thought the same thing. this sounds like a song from niandra LaDes
@@JG-ts2udDidn't closing time come out years later though? This demo would've been made in 93 or so and closing time I swear wasn't out til 99.
@@bluewhye8832it came out later, not as good of a song compared to when i come around tho
@@chuffy438 Nice profile pic. Smile from the streets you hold is some good stuff. Niandra is better tho for me.
The 4-track demos are like an alternate reality where Dookie came out on Lookout Records
right, love the "raw" sounds, reminds me of the first 2 albums 👌🏻
I'd like to think a Lookout records version of Dookie would be more punk. I was a little disappointed that a lot of the 4-tracks only has vocals and guitar
@@Actually_A_Biscuit
Maybe it would be a little more "punk", but the pop-oriented sensibilities of these thin demos and their DIY aesthetics definitely fall in line with what Lookout records were doing.
While the demos sound more raw, theyre honestly more pop than the real dookie
omg yes!
You can really hear how young Billie was during this recording,
Yes
~21 yrs old
E é incrível como hoje ele ainda parece jovem! O espírito não envelhece!
And he sounds really good 😊
Exactly!
This also has that "Closing Time" riff in it, mixed with some "Under the Bridge". Whatever. It is AMAZINGGGG
i heard the same exact thing lmao. pretty mind blowing!
so many songs came out in the 90s with that chord progression. its a good one
When the melodic rhytm guitar comes in the back it gives full "closing time" vibes
They wrote "Closing Time" 5 years before Semisonic! haha
I hear the theme song from Scrubs 😅
Are we sure Semisonic didn’t hear this intro before they wrote Closing Time?
😂
This version has so much 90's in it, it's so amazing. It wouldn't have stood out like the release version but goddamn, it's so 90's. :)
Reminds me of Closing Time from Semisonic at the start although of course this existed years prior
There's a John Frusciante strum in there that is completely 90's
Reboot Back to the Future, send them back to the 70s, and have them play this song.
THATS IT!!! I couldnt remember his name. I was like omg thats RHCP there. With a pinch of Bradley Noel.@@davidvriezedaniels3294
gen x lore
I‘ve got a lot of great memories with Green Day songs, one of them is this song for some reason it reminds me my high school era, Green Day is the reason I learn to play the guitar and learning English too, I hope to see them on live concert. Saludos desde Reynosa, Mexico, viva Mexico!
It sounds as though the Red Hot Chili Peppers jammed with Billie Joe Armstrong.
The guitar in the verses reminds me of John Frusciante's style and sound.
Semisonic "Closing Time".
Sorry if this ruined the demo for you. Lol
@@JG-ts2ud Since I love that song and if anything it's the other way around and since it's only the arpeggio together with the chords rather than the Frusciante-like way that the chords are played, which was what my post was about...I'm perfectly fine with that. : )
What a present for Green Day fans, Thank you!!!
You know that feeling when a good friend can somehow fix your problems without even saying a word - by just smiling your way or putting an arm around you?
That’s what this demo feels like.
i love the chord change compared to the released one during the chorus it makes it sound really awesome 🔥🔥
it's the same chord change. he's just playing at as a full chord instead of a power chord.
@@sebastienr7852 ahh right
@@sebastienr7852 still sounds like that power chord choke, just a cleaner tone
Its a little lower on the tone
@@Billie115pitch, not tone. He recorded this in F major, the recording is in Gb major.
Billie Joe Armstrong is a top 10 all time songwriter IMHO. These demos highlight how good these songs really are.
Too many memories this song reminds me of my childhood this song is too beautiful 🤟🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️❤️
Even though the studio recording is clearly pop punk goodness, this one has such a rhcp vibe and sound to it, it is bizarre.
Billie is really getting his Frusciante on in this demo
Semisonic "Closing Time".
I'm sorry I ruined this demo for you. Lol
Guitar sound like John Frusciante style
The picking over the main riff reminds me of Closing Time by Semisonic. Very 90's
Man you've just reminded me of that song I must listen to it again❤️
Closing Time is awesome. My 90s go to song is Stars by Hum
YES.
You're the one other person I've seen mention this. Lol
When I Come Around is the song that changed how I listen to music.
...in the sense that I was 12 and had the song on repeat til I grew so tired of it that I could never really enjoy it again. Now I'm 41, and no matter how much I love a song I have to take a break from it after a few days on rotation.
So a piece of my childhood right here :)
俺が中学の時聴いた青春時代真っ盛りな時には刺激が強すぎたかな、本当に最高のアルバムです。本当に大好き❤🇯🇵
Me too! I love green day.
How many memories.😌 Arguments with my father about listening to "such bad" music...😆😅
I'm sorry to say this but your dad has no taste in music especially if he's going to call of this song bad lol😐😆
@@michaelcabal7391
Obviously he didn't know. He was way too old🤣... and I was 16 in '94😁It was crazy back then😁😆
@@michaelcabal7391 One time I got to play Dookie on my dad's car's stereo and he called it 'hard rock'. I was getting into stuff like Sepultura at the time so I was like what is 'hard' about this
@@hrotha depends on what song your listen to on that album
@@michaelcabal7391I think he said that right at the beginning as Burnout came on. To be fair, that was also my reaction when I listened to it for the first time as a kid
Essa música é uma das minhas favoritas, mas após lança a demo assim ouço todos os dias antes de ir para o trabalho. Um baita vício atualmente ❤🎉
this version is awesome
I can’t believe this album is almost 30. I still remember listening to this song when American Idiot came out and think of the 70s being 30 years ago. I feel so old.
I am 14 years old. I've been trying to discover music genres. This song will always have a special place in my heart. It literally changed my perception of music. Long live Pop Punk, long live Green Day.
I'm 18 been at it for 5 years but I gotta say you're starting off right buddy : )
EU TO CHORANDO GREEN DAY PAGUE A MINHA TERAPIA
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
O pior que eu também estou
This song has always held a special place in my heart, reminds me of a guy I used to know. So cool
Before the Bri..ish accent. 😂
Banda preferida da vida. 🇧🇷💚
this is so cool to hear
Listening to this brings back such vivid memories of a simpler time, like flipping through the pages of a cherished photo album.
Imagine if they stuck with all these melodic guitar riffs and solos… They could have pioneered Midwest emo well before it’s time! I almost like it more then the official release! 🖤 🖤 🖤
Good song, has potential, hope it gets big one day
ghay comment
The most predictable comment in the world. 😂
@alanduncan1980 It's something predictable, but in the end, it's right, I hope you had the time of your life
@@chrisganowski7418 ha ha! Hey, you're alright 😂
In 2023... I'll be coming around again.
are you gonna come around this year? :)
Sounds very inspired by red hot chilli peppers! Amazing to hear the demos!
Damn dude that clean tone 🔥
[Verse 1]
Well, I heard you crying loud
All the way across town
You've been searching for that someone and it's me out on the prowl
As you sit around feeling sorry for yourself
Don't get discouraged now
And dry your crying eyes
I'm just roamin' for the moment, sleazin' my backyard, so don't get
So uptight, you've been thinking about leaving me
[Chorus]
No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
All seriousness, these videos are giving me inspiration in just putting out demos cause they often never sound anything like the final version
Semisonic "Closing Time".
I have no idea how that band got a hold of these demos in 1997...
How now brown cow. 🐮 PS. Real GD fans will know what I mean.
It feels like Semisonic ripped this start off for their song Closing Time
These demos give the impression that maybe they intend Dookie to be a much softer record, but at some point changed course.
Damn i was 16 when this came out. Time flies
It’s really cool to hear these demos from artists I love because i tells me im on the right track, doing the same thing and polishing stuff.
Oh. Are you producing?
it's remind me RHCP - Under the Bridge
in this demo it sounds alot like a red hot chili pepper inspired song, interesting
This version sounds like an old school emo song.
Red hot chili peppers soul to squeeze
My favorite Green Day song 🥹
SO DIFFERENT LOOOOOOL I LOVE IT
Huele a camarón 🎶🍤
Sounds more nostalgic than the official release
The guitar is so good here wth
This is the soundtrack of my life and death, love u billie.
Been listening to all the demo thanks for sharing these. One thing in particular becomes clear me after hearing this...one of my favorite parts of the album version is Mike's bassline.
Me corrijo , las demos de Green Day y Linkin Park son las mejores ❤
Terrible cover, he doesn't even know the lyrics.

GLYCERINE! GLYCERINE!
Tiene demasiados temazos Green Day pero este es uno de mis favoritos, junto a She
Sempre achei as demos mais foda que as versões finais
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL 😭😭❤❤❤
Thankful Gren Day......
*What a wholesome song from 3 good clean humble modest and class PUNKS.*
1994 was the best year of my life
Es tan relajante esta versión ☺💚
Definitely written around the Kerplunk era. If Green Day made Dookie as a 3rd album for Lookout!, this is what it would sound like. Honestly, I consider Dookie as Kerplunk part 2 with better audio and production.
What a fucking beautiful version
It sounds more like an updated remix, there's a lot more going on with the guitars.
With a severely degraded audio mix, sonically speaking.
The original video for this song is suddenly unavailable for some reason...????
Should’ve kept “leaving me” instead of ditching me
If there is heaven this will play there
It’s terrifying knowing people steal music and get signed with the stolen music.
Uncle billy joe is a vampire or what, cuz uncle billy forever young!
To all the people who say this sounds like closing time, you’re wrong, closing time sounds like this. This song came out like 4 years before closing time.
It's really weird that they went back in and auto-tuned his voice in a demo.... Kinda lame.
It's eerie how beautiful it was before it was finalized.
Beautiful
The "4-track demos" is what I didnt know I needed. It literally carries you 30 years back!
At the start I was thinking, Is this gonna be better than finalized one, When he 1st said When I come around, I threw that thought In the garbage. Still pretty good though
He kinda sounds like now billie when he says When I Come Around.
In my mind I hear.. Sullen don't get Lonely Now?!
this almost sounds like weezer😭
yeah this demo reminds me of the kitchen tape version of Undone or Lets Sew Our Pants Together
@@mauswaffles trueee i was just thinking about how weezer and green day did the exact opposite
Do Multiple riffs sounds like Semisonics closing time? Or is it just me..
This record changed my life
When red hot chilli Peppers play Green day with Billie Joe on vocals
Mi cottah zoin para ti mi amor❤️💋☘️⚡👑🇷🇺
The riff sounds like "Closing Time"
It also sounds like "Minutos" from Ricardo Arjona lol
This sounds more heartfelt than the dookie version, I love it
Bro, 30 years...where tf did that time go?
The days when they were anti-establishment. What they say is true: you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
All of my adult life i've followed this bad hearing these versions brings tears to my eyes. Forever Green Day!
I love this! So many memories! Billie sounds so young and it makes me happy!
The interlude on the intro reminds me blink-182 sounds
when i come around by john frusciante
Holy Lennon-McCartney Batman!
Dude! This might be the greatest song of all time!
When I come around sounds like Semisonic.
The intro reminds me of Closing Time by Semisonic
Getting a hint of smashing pumpkins in here
Wake up it’s October 1st
