Baryon mode makes sense cause its just mixing Naruto and Kurama chakra in specific proportions according to the rules of nuclear fusion to create a new and powerful type of energy. Kurama is an expert in nuclear physics so it made sense. There was no foreshadowing for this tho. I felt it was a good thing cause i always wondered what would happen if Naruto instead of just using Kurama's chakra like KCM2 would actually mix it with his own like in Sage mode. So Baryon mode was'nt some sort of plot armour for me. Its sad that some people consider it to be cause they never thought in the direction like I did.

I mean why do they keep on playing around family themes and time travel and parallels.
