Go bless you, Dr. Oriyomi for this analysis. This kind of carelessness by hospitals happened to my family on 3 different occasions in the early eighties in Lagos. We couldn’t do anything because there was no medium to raise our complaints. In 1980, my mother was pregnant of my kid sister and she attended a hospital in Ilupeju, (one of the hospitals that NAA, Ikeja had retainership with) for antenatal. She got back with some drugs and after taking them, her whole tongue came out, filled her mouth and she couldn’t talk again. When she was rushed to the hospital, it was discovered that she was given drugs not meant for a pregnant person and they reacted on her. The second one was in 1983. when she gave birth to her last born, this time at Island Maternity Hospital, government hospital, she had a C-section, days or weeks after she wasn’t getting up but was in serious pain. After investigations, it was discovered that a small scissors was left in her womb. She suffered from the ulcer caused by the scissors for several years after that. It affected me as the first born so much when my mother would be writhing in pain.
Oriyomi Hamzat, God Almighty will continue to raise up mighty men of integrity like you to shine light into the darkness!!! Men who will refuse to be bought and sold in every sector of our culture. God bless you for your dedication to justice for all; regardless of a person's social economic status!!! Our people have to know that what goes around comes around . We have to understand that what ever they willingly sweep under the rug is what they have planted for a future harvest! If they don't reap it during their lifetime, their descendants will reap it bountifully. We all have to stand up and say NO to injustices anywhere we see it. Stay loyal to your calling and God will continue to bless and enlarge your coast.
In U S there are always specialized teams that inspect any organization or companies to make sure they are doing the right things Nigeria should emulate this
Why do you have to wait till she will give up the ghost? Once you notice the hospital given her an expired drugs immediately you supposed to move her out of that fake hospital, My brother , go and get a good lawyer this fight will be a long thing, you did some mistakes in this case !
My take on this: 1. Can an expired medication administered? Yes 2. For how long? 3/6monthx ( but I am not sure. 3. What is the effect of the expiration on the medication? It affects the potency of the medication. 4. Are the hospitals encouraged to administer expired medication? 4. Whether or not it is the expired medication (drugs) that killed her or not can only be determined by autopsy. In conclusion, allow Oriyomi to do his findings. In a normal society police should be doing this. If we truly desire a good country, then let us support him.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, expired antibiotics could be toxic and ineffective. Especially in an asthmatic patient with a chest infection. A chest infection that is not promptly and properly treated could kill. An asthmatic patient with a chest infection should be given strong IV antibiotics, a nebulizer, IV fluid, and medication to protect her stomach wall. So, giving her expired antibiotics could kill her because it will be ineffective. They still had the chance to save her when she became unconscious if they were competent. Of course, being a doctor is a title for them and not a profession. Molly is not a good hospital.
