Pipe organ MISBEHAVES during final hymn 😂

Many years ago I was playing the midnight mass in a cathedral. The organ was away overdue for some serious repairs and upgrades. During the last hymn “hark the herald”, with over 900 in attendance, the pedal division started to cipher! Panic stricken I looked over to the choir director and he said “just don’t lift your hands!”. So I finished the hymn and immediately turned off the blower and the organ groaned and wheezed to a stop. Needless to say my carefully prepared postlude was out the window.

I had the opposite. Some bass pedal notes stopped sounding during a carol at Christmas Eve service🤣

A 4ft flute pipe ciphered: all I could do was close the stop. Later, I removed the offending pipe until the next tuning.
